For the Record, Archmagus...

Ah, the city of magi...how it has changed...

I must say, this place is my type of city. Magical discoveries, political deception, and a pleasant atmosphere sure can breed devious minds. Learning the game is everything, those that do can rise to the top..


Journal entry one.
Time: Darkwatch rising

Dalaran certainly is beautiful at night, buildings crafted by the hands of magic...I can almost lose myself just sitting in the park. The evening time brings no rest to the city, many magi work feverishly through the night trying to show up everyone else. In a way I am glad that I have superiors to report to, it's their job to deal with all the crap that goes on...enough about that though. I got a new pair of robes today, specially stitched with a symbol of the Violet Eye, Purple as well...a color fit for magi. Tonight is very special to me, yet another meeting with my master, I sent my familiar some time ago to let him know I was ready...hopefully we will both gain something tonight.

Just as I finished reading my issue of Kirin Tor Monthly my familiar appeared to me..time for work..

In the early evening the offices of the Violet Citadel are often quiet and formal. I approached an obscure door at the end of the hall and knocked twice. "Archmagus, you are in correct?"

"Yes, yes, come in my boy!"

I always hate it when he says that, but he is getting on in years...

"I've come to give my report, as you requested sir."

"Of course, have a seat." The Archmage motioned to a cushioned purple chair opposite him.

"First off, just let me say once again that I am truly in your debt for allowing me to pursue this as part of my training, I really have nothing to report except that the leader is alive again and I look forward to the day I can bring you his head as a trophy."

"Well I do make it somewhat of a personal matter to make sure that these types of people can be made an example of in the future, I must say I am impressed with the progress you have made not only in your mission, but in your magical studies as well. You still need to increase your stamina though.."

"I know master, I work on it every night..but other than that I may continue as my original outline suggested? Also, any news on the application I asked for?"

"You may continue so long as you can keep the promises you made..as for those applications, a spots are available but they have not been released for the general magi population yet." The Archmagus reached under the desk and pulled out a scollcase. "A copy missing here and there won't be noticed though...be sure you are one of the first to drop it off, the Board looks highly on those that are prompt."

"Of course master, I'm sure that I will be ready to display my skills.."

I left the office so fast that I may have peeled off the paint...the spells locked to me for so long may soon be mine...I'll need to remember to get him a keg of Dalaran Red to repay this favor..

((note that this will eventually be a story of trickery and political subterfuge, the application noted in this first post does not affect anything in game really, only in the context of this story.))

Business in Dalaran is passing by as usual, although I must say the amount of work my master has given me to repair him for the favor is staggering..I can't remember what coffee tastes like. I discovered something quite odd as well, it appears everyone else is playing the exactly same game the exact same way..a number of applications have gone missing, records have been changed and made to look official etc. For things that are supposed to be subtle it just seems like a giant waste of time.

Oh well..the "official" application opening date is tommorow, I'm praying to the Light for this actually..
