A Knight's Rebirth
#1
Ironforge, The 5th Depth, during the night, was a calm and still place. Dimly lit by various lampposts, and in the background, by the neverending melting iron that gave the city its name, only shadows were seen moving.
There was one house, encrusted within the wall of a cave. The lights within it went down, when a cold draft took hold of the avenue. A shadowy figure advanced up the stairs that led to the second story, minding its step, bending to hide itself with the side railings. A small, quiet snicker could be heard, as the thief arrived to the wrought door. There was an inscription on it. “Hebry Runetouch and Amy Bradford”.Sir Runetouch has since long gone, researching long lost spells; but the rogue had few care for him. She picked the door's lock and entered the tidy home. She did not bother lingering in the upper stories – richly decorated with shields, long lost trophies, mahogany tables, red carpets, and shiny weapons – and headed down, to the bedroom. She was rather proficient in the dark. She lit a candle in the bedroom, and faced the backwall. On the rather large bed, the woman was quietly sleeping. The rogue smirked, and picked a dagger, then a longsword. She approached the unwitting dreamer and closed her eyes. Arylon never felt anything during all of the process. The rogue whispered a few words, smiled, and impaled Arylon with both swords.
The hapless girl had the time to open her eyes, glance at her murdered, let a muffled cry – she would resist, she would heal herself...

The last thing Arylon breathed was but a name.

“Ashley..”

The guards found the body about a day later. In their confusion, they sent the dead girl to Stormwind, where she was laid to rest in the catacombs of the Cathedral of Light – oh sweet Paladin, who so hated the Argent Crusade. Yet nothing was genuinely over. Amy had a destiny to fulfill, and a strong willpower. And when so much others would have simply passed on to the Afterworld, she wandered around, wailing. And thinking. All was black and white. She was, for an undetermined period of time, wandering in a caved-in cathedral. It seemed like that very church she was resting into, only it did not have any exit. Nor anyone. She was all by herself, in a soundless world. Every now and then, she would see Hebry, or Lily, her beloved one, glimse behind a column; but as she rushed to them, they would have vanished.
Arylon was in much sorrow. She remembered the face of her assassin, yet not her name, or why even she killed her. No, she had lost all other memory of the event, of the person, of anything pertaining to her death. Her heart was lone and pounding – and yet, she knew she had not passed yet.

Roughly three weeks after her death. Iscaro Laveas, another high-ranking official in the AVA paramilitary, had wandered in the Church. Certainly for his prayers to the Light, and his faithful devotion to the Alliance. For some reason however, he was driven to the Catacombs. Certainly, he had seen someone being carried in, or out, and wanted to check. Upon entering the first stone room, cold like ice, supported by two marble pillars that ended on the oppressing ceiling, he stumbled upon the coffin. Despite the low light, provided by two candles on each side of the room, he reckonized Amy's name. He cried out. She had gone missing too long.
About an hour later, the priests had unearthed her body from the coffin. It was rather damaged, with the long wounds from the blades prominent on her bare chest. Iscaro backed off. This was when Sir Tenaris came in. He was an experienced Paladin, and bore an armor of Light that brought some warmth to the room. With him, Sannas Cediah, the mage leading the AVA, deeply frowning upon Amy. Iscaro left then. The sickness of the scene and Amy's horrible mutilations left him shaken. Tenaris and Sannas, however, were sure there was still hope, however dim. They grabbed Amy's body and laid it on a nearby altar. Sannas began casting concentration spells upon the holy healer, who closed his eyes. It lasted half an hour. All his energy and health, he focused onto a resurrection and healing spell. Amy, at first, seemed warmed. Her breath came back, her eyes opened. The wounds were slightly healed – at least, the worse ones. Tenaris collapsed.

When he woke up, Arylon was still staring at the ceiling. She seemed deeply shaken. While Sannas had gone gathering food for the girl, he approached her, and tried to discuss. Yet nothing came. No words could emanate from the woman's mouth. She did try to speak, but no words, no sounds were produced. When the mage came back, Arylon was dazedly standing, and soon enough fell out of exhaust in his arms. Both carried her to the military's headquarteers, about a street off the Cathedral; and she slept there, slowly recovering.
What the two men did not know, however, is that Arylon was still lost in her maze. She was so badly trying to place all the pieces back, and at the same time, she felt an intense guilt. That of having troubled people, of having triggered her murder, of having most of all, spitted on the Silver Hand who freed her off her maze. Oh, she would rebuild herself, find her husband back, and lead an overally quieter life – but something now drove her.

She would avenge against whoever destroyed her dreams and shattered her hopes.
