The Steamwheedle Resort
#1
"Steamwheedle Port". What does this name bring to mind?. A tired little town where ships don't even bother to anchor up? A dried up reminder of how unforgiving and harsh the desert can be? Perhaps that is the way of things now, but it doesn't have to be like that!

Steamwheedle Port is rich in four things. Turtles, Sun, Sand and beautiful blue ocean. In short, the perfect vacation paradise. With Winter Veil hastily approaching, many denizens of Azeroth dream themselves to warmer shores. But why let it remain a dream? Industrial goblins could quickly turn the sleepy little one-horse town into a wonderful vacation resort for those who like to spend their days lounging on the beach, sipping cool drinks from coconut shells, or even turtle-racing or surfing for those athletic types!

Let's take a walk and see what any newcomer might find within the first few steps at the resort.

Aaah yes, the Cabana Bar! The favorite hangout for horde and alliance alike. In a friendly atmosphere, drinks can be shared and tales can be exchanged. With several tables and chairs available, there's never a shortage of space. And if all else fails, the complimentary towels and parasols are only a few feet away.

From there, surfbords and turtles can be rented for those wanting to explore the scenery. The turtles, being excellent swimmers, is also a great way to share a romantic alternative to the tired old walk-and-talk. Not in the mood for talking or drinking? Soak up some sun or play some beach volley. There's lots to do, even deep sea diving. Just ask to rent a helmet at the sporting goods tent.

If you are in a shopping mood, the Steamwheedle Resort has many opportunities for tourists to spend their hard-earned money on worthless junk and poorly hand-crafted souvenirs. You are guaranteed not to go home empty-handed. With plenty of fresh ingredients arriving daily, tourists and the rest chefs alike shop under one roof, where bananas, papayas, coconuts and other delicacies are available for purchase and consumption. Mmhm, so much to explore, and so much to buy!

Finally, as the night falls, what better way to keep the party going than by going aboard the Golden Oyster, the finest boat-turned-casino on this side of the maelstrom. The deck if ready for dancing, and below are craps, blackjack, dice and more! All ready for you to try your luck. It doesn't get much better than that, eh?

And when the night if over, the last of your coins has vanished like dew on a desert cactus, it's time to turn in at the excellent and highly adequate "Rose of Tanaris". Where comfy beds with real hay in the pillows awaits you. Aah, rest well vacationer, you've earned it.

So don't dawdle and wait for the nether to freeze over, come on down!
We'll be waiting for you at the Steamwheedle Resort!

I apologize for the terrible MS paint drawings, but I just wanted to give people a feel of how something like this might be. This is an idea I've thought about for a -long- time, but only really managed to go over with mrbubbles a few times in private. The idea is that now that WoW is becoming more and more industrialized and focused on changes in society, obviously luxuries will also become equally affordable. If there is a market for something, it will eventually be taken advantage of.

So I present this idea to you all. A goblin-run neutral resort away from the snow and rain, by the azure-blue sea where the turtles play. A place that could be wonderful as a hangout spot, given a few modifications to create more "life" and such. Most of what would be included in such an idea is already written in the first post, but I'd be glad to hear ideas and feedback on this, especially regarding feasibility. Hope you all enjoyed reading about my little dream!

I donno, when I think of Steemwheedle Port, I think of consistant pirate raids, a water-trade cut off, unworking machines (the purpose is to turn salt-water into fresh water), fishing, and evidently some of the best seafood in the world. I think if you can ICly rid the town of the South Sea pirates, this idea would be excellent, since its trade would re-open, bringing in supplies and water (a barrel of water is worth more than gold in Tanaris ICly).

I reasoned that if the goblins had already decided to make something like the above out of the Steamwheedle Port, they'd either eradicate the pirates themselves, or hire enough adventurers and mercenaries to get the job done. The port also has the added attraction of sharing its name with the Cartel itself, It'd be a dayum shame if it never amounted to something more than tired out-of-the-way watering hole.

And don't forget the turtle races, now that could be an exciting event!
