Carnage in the Catacombs
#1
A Note From The Author:
Spoiler:
This is a GM-sanctioned event. Graciously, Nexi has agreed to allow for this event. Do not abuse this kindness.

The event is intended as a kick off for a much longer, over-arching storyline that will involve all occupants of the Catacombs. A storyline will be written afterwards for all those curious but unable to attend.

CARNAGE IN THE CATACOMBS

To fight aloud is very brave,
But really is quite foolish.
Who charges into the field of battle,
is a dolt, through and through.
Who win, I don't give a damn.
Who fall, I always laugh.
Whose dying eyes see sorrow
And dying breath a swear.
But roses are red,
Violets are blue.
Now put on your armor,
You're up next.

FIGHT-NIGHT

The Catacombs Coliseum is in dire need of a little blood and a few bodies. So that is why Kimee “Snack Attack” Frostshackle and Marianna “The Bull” Bisen have joined together to form an unstoppable, crushing tag-team. They organize paperwork! They collate! They cut through red tape like its butter!

And in the end, they have come up with the First Annual Catacomb Carnagium Grand Prix Delux. More ballsy then the Battle of Bunker Hill. More thrilling then Manilla. And definitely more electrifying then a kite, the First Annual CCGPD-X is here. It is here to chill. Here to terrify. Here to excite and here to explode. And now it's here for you to enjoy.

The event is designed for some evil combat-oriented shenanigans. Contestants enter in for the chance to win a fabulous prize. Untold, the reward has been promised to be an item that ‘all denizens of the Catacombs' shall covet.

Yet the fun doesn't have to end outside of the arena. Between the fights combatants are encouraged to demonstrate good ol' fashioned Catacombs pride by poisoning, tricking, beating and otherwise sabotaging the competition. Rules have been relaxed. Regulations untangled. This is a one day chance to enjoy a little bit of evil RP.

So even if you don't fight, come along. You can watch the fights, place bets, socialize, practice your craft…And perhaps play witness to the madness. After all, the event was not simply organized just to provide a little fun for the Catacomb goers. The organizers seem to have ulterior motives. Only time will show what they really have up their sleeve for this little get-together…

PROGRAM

The event will be held on Saturday, January the 22nd and will last from 11:00 P.M Forum Time to 18:00 P.M Forum Time.
(Use http://www.worldtimezone.com/ to match this with your own time-zone.)

The event is broken into three main phases. Between each phase will be minor distractions, frivolities and amusements for the crowd.
  • Phase One:The Free-For-All begins at 11:00 PM Forum Time.
The Free-For-All is a standard tournament, with all entrants competing in a standard bracket. Fights will be one versus one, with the winner declared after their opponent has been knocked out. The top three victors will move on to the finals.

  • Phase Two: The Guild Wars begins at 14:00 PM Forum Time.
Guild Wars is a little twist to the standard tournament. Each invited guild will assemble a team of three ‘guild champions'. These teams of three fighters will spar off against other guild teams in a bracket-style tournament. The top team will go on to the Finals.

  • Phase Three: The Finals begins at 16:00 PM Forum Time.
The Finals will be the culmination of the tournament. The three victors from Phase One will be assembled into a team to face the victorious team from Phase Two. The two teams will be forced to fight against each other against an unknown foe. Whomever survives the challenge will be declared the victorious party.

    RULES

People can enter the Catacombs via the main entrance (ICly south of Raven Hill in Duskwood) or via teleportation, which will bring you to a special portal errected in the Catacombs.

While the event has some…Normally relaxed rules, all participants…Both spectators and fighters…Must follow certain guidelines.

    • You will not harm spectators. The fights will be heavily guarded, and if it is seen that a spectator harms a spectator or a fighter harms a spectator, the person in question will be removed from the area and detained. Torture may follow.
    • Betting is allowed and encouraged.
    • Theft, extortion, threats of violence and other normal City Rules apply to spectators.
    • Fighters are allowed and encouraged to poison, beat, sabotage or otherwise gain an unfair advantage in the fight between matches. Yet they are not allowed to kill their enemies outside of the arena, and if their tricks are observed by guards they will be punished accordingly.
    • All characters who enter into the Catacombs during the event will submit themselves to an IC character check. Even if it is not actually done you will consider that your character has had their disguise removed and their bodies scanned to see if they are enemies of the Catacombs before ever entering the festival area.
    • Fighters will not be allowed to summon companions, pets or minions while in the arena.
    • Fighters cannot kill their opponent in the arena unless both fighters agree to make it a fight to the death beforehand OOC.
    • The fights are all roll, with 5 HP per combattant. EAch fight will have an OOC referee. The referee will provide roll modifiers and will be the final voice on matters of dispute.

Failure to follow these rules will result in you being captured by a Cabal Agent and thrown into a cage. You will subsequently be sold as a slave. If you are not purchased IC you will be considered a Catacombs Subject, which carries with it insta-death.

Crime doesn't pay during the event.

Spectators can pop up anytime. It's a day long event, with fights going on around the clock.

Also, a smaller arena will be built where spectators can go at it one-on-one if they get a lil' bit of the bloodlust.

Exactly. We want to make it as dangerous as possible...While not having any undue deaths and injuries,

You handed me an invite, but I believe that you misunderstood the concept of my mercenary group.
We -are- the good guys, but we tend to... but rather harsh towards our enemies :)
