The Duskhaven Cabal
#1
From the editor:
Spoiler:
Many thanks to Anski for all the photoshop work.

The guild is designed for the over-arching Ziggurat event. Members who join will be expected to involve themselves in the six month storyline.

Also, many thanks to Vrahn, Torches, Aphetoros and the like who provided the general idea, members and leadership (In that order) to make this guild possible.

This is a dangerous guild that engages in dangerous RP. This guild I hazardous to your character's health. Characters who are pregnant or have a history of lung cancer should not join this guild.

“Service to the Legion isn't treachery. Azeroth will live on through me long after the Legion has destroyed it.”

It is a dark will that wishes for the apocalypse. Yet still there are some who hunger for it and what the End of Reason can bring to them. After all, the march of the Legion brings death before it and gifts behind it.

The Duskhaven Cabal is an organization created around a single belief: The Burning Legion's advance upon Azeroth is inevitable and inexorable. You can either stand against the tide and be swept away completely or capitulate and endure. They work towards hastening the Legion's return to Azeroth, striving to show their loyalty and usefulness so as to survive through The Fall.

Members who work alongside the Cabal do so for a myriad of different reasons. Some have done it truly believing the inevitability of this war. Others obey because of the promises of power. And still others are unwilling participants, tortured or maddened into loyalty through the Cabal's various rituals. No matter the cause, however, each member willingly submits themselves to the power of the Legion, warping and changing under the evil powers it bestows.

OOC, this is a group for evil character development, intrigue and apocalypse play. It is stilled very much like the Twilight Hammer clan, with an overly secretive nature and a bent towards the end of Azeroth. Members begin as lowly acolytes and, through Role-Playing and strengthening themselves, they advance amongst the ranks. As they climb, they are changed to fit the needs of the Cabal.

Rising is difficult and tricky, both IC and OOC. Once you have attained a certain rank you will begin to change, both physically and mentally, to fit your new role in the group. Mutations are common, with self-mutilation and surgeries enacted. Characters who join the group will have to understand that they will leave a, literally, changed person.

Members may be asked to do a plethora of functions for the group. Cabal members may be put in other groups to function as sleeper agents. Small, specialized cells may be planted in regions with orders to cause mayhem or pillage resources. Arena fights may be staged to gather money and wealth. Assassinations, intrigue and the like are all fair game.

For the Cabal. For the Legion. For The Fall.

In walked a Cabal Overseer, her flesh pale, her eyes blank black orbs in almond frames. She was cloaked in the robes of her station, the flowing black and red dress covered in the green and purple runes. Her face was covered in a network of black scars, denoting her as a Cabal Duskmage.

In behind her came an acolyte, her head bowed. She shivered as she stepped through the door and into the ritual chamber. Today was the day for her to begin to Rite of Supplication.

The circular stone room was sparsely furnished. The only thing beneath the hammer-wood ceiling was a single, dark wood coffin. Around the walls other high-ranking members of the Cabal stood, half-steeped in shadow. Their dark eyes watched the two intently, quietly. Each wore the robes and marks of their rank. Cabal Assassins stood with Cabal Surgeons, while Cabal Scientists shuffled with Cabal Minions. All wore a knowing smile.

The two of them walked through the room to the open coffin. The Overseer turned. Her blank eyes swept across the other members but she gave no sign of having noticed them. She gestured to the coffin.

The acolyte stepped into it.

There was a ripple. Inside of the coffin was mostly full of some clear emerald green fluid; as the acolyte sat down the fluid closed around her.

The grease reeked of corruption.

The acolyte lay down and the ichor closed over her face. Her eyes were wide open.

The Cabal Overseer made a gesture, and the acolyte opened her mouth; bubbles rushed from it, and then she inhaled, a dimple appearing over her mouth where the clear gel poured into her lungs.

An exhale brought a few more bubbles, then she breathed in a little more grease.

And stopped. Her tongue probed up, between her lips, and withdrew.

She closed her eyes.

The Overseer lifted the coffin's lid from where it leaned against the box, and fitted it on top, sealing the woman inside.

Thus removed, the acolyte was free to glimpse the unthinkable.

She hung in the Void. Shapeless, formless, her mind stretched across the Twisting Nether. Like gravity, her consciousness was drawn to the little pinpricks of light. Her mote of essence touched a thousand worlds and she merged with a billion lives. For that one precious instant, she was one with the entirety of the Titan's creation.

And then she saw the Legion's march. Worlds turned black as the demons seized them one by one. And through her shared consciousness, she was able to take in the immensity of the Legion's actions.

She felt the rumble of the siege engines under foot. She smelled the bloodied steel and heard the terrified wails. She saw the fires bathe darkened worlds in emerald light. She tasted sweat and tears and in every instant of death learned that much more about the madness of the demons.

And finally, as her battered essence contracted into a single consciousness, the acolyte witnessed the unmaking of reason.

Hours later the coffin's lid was opened and she was lifted up from the grease. Gingerly, the woman was placed upon the stone floor.

Unblinking, she stared up at the ceiling and beyond. She had touched the Twisting Nether and had come back reborn.

The new member of the Cabal was anointed and given her new rank and title. Slowly, she stood up and stepped over to the far wall. When the next acolyte was brought in, she wore the same knowing smirk as the others. The fresh mark upon her face burned quietly. The Cabal Demonologist would serve the order well.

Ranks:

The Pawns are the lowliest of the low. Corrupted and twisted by Cabal members, these once heroes have been tarnished and rendered docile. Brokered like chips and thrown about without care, the slave seeks only to prove their worth and advance upwards in ranks and attain safety.

For all members normally entering the fold, you will be named an Acolyte. Fresh, these beginners are still untrained and untempered for the Cabal's true purpose. They slowly immerse themselves in the life, learning the ways of the group and their role in its grand machinations. In the dark, they know nothing of the Cabal's true purpose. They serve only the will of the higher members, who use them for their research and works.

For those acolytes who prove their worth, they will become Dark Supplicants. The Supplicant has, through his dedication, made clear that he is worthy for the Rite of Supplication and the dark secrets beyond. He is trained for his new position, all imperfections hammered away in combat and trial. He also begins to undergo his ritualistic mutations, his form altered to fit his new station. At the end he undergoes the Rite of Supplication. If he survives, he is ushered into one of the two member groups and is given a new title and profession. Cabal Demonologists, Cabal Chemists, Cabal Spellcasters, Cabal Agents and other such specialized ranks, in this way, are born.

The true membership with the Cabal begins for those who have undergone the Ritual of Supplication and survived.

The Duskmages are those members trained in the occult magic of the Cabal, seamlessly merging their chosen trade with the corruptive influences of the Legion and the Order. They are under the control of the Cabal Patriarch.

The Haven Guard are the foot-soldiers of the Cabal. With enchanted weaponry and armor they are specialized soldiers used for 'flexible response'. Warped with Fel and Shadow, these fiends delight in misery and death. They are trained under the fanatical hand of the Cabal Overlord.

The Cabal Overseers are said to be the twisted hand of the leaders' will. It is with their guiding voice and harsh lash that the lesser members are guided through research and esoteric missions. Privy to the secrets of the Cabal, the Overseers are the keepers of the guild's apocalyptic will. They rule the guild's command structure and its myriad of different functions and organs.

The Cabal is lead by the Cabal Patriarch, Cabal Overlord and the Cabal Matriarch. The leaders and founders of the guild, their purposes, goals and drives are unknown. They involve themselves in the group often, nursing and training the lesser members, grooming them for higher positions of power.

Joining:

The Duskhaven Cabal is based in and around Deadwind and the Catacombs. It was designed to be a hands on group, embracing both magical study (Duskmage) and military order (Haven Vanguard). We are not a pleasant, happy-go-lucky group. What we do is nasty and we do it quite frequently.

The Cabal has two major hubs for those with recruitment on their mind. The Catacombs Arena and fairground are maintained and populated with Cabal members; lurk around the ring long enough and get a few drops of blood your blade and you might just be approached for more permanent work.

The second area is the Tower Duskhaven. The Tower is located deep within Deadwind beneath the shadow of Karazhan itself, an extremely difficult hike for those who do not know of its existence. But for those invited, the tower is the premiere school and study location for those with the occult in mind.

If you have any other questions, feel free to post them here.

Somehow, I doubt Marianna and Caidrah are working together to fight -aganist- the Burning Legion.

However, beyond that trickery, I'm sure Sathus will follow Caidrah's judgment.

Following the Carnage in the Catacombs event, the Cabal has vowed to help in the construction of the Ziggurat.

Major Update:

The Cabal has dropped all pretenses. We are now a Legion-allied group which strives towards bringing about the Third Invasion and the fall of Azeroth.

We are also now looking for willing participants to play Sleeper Agents. Your character will be brainwashed into obediance before having their memories of the Cabal locked away. Unknown to the organization and to the agent, they will be dispatched to join other guilds. These sleeper agents will be activated when the time comes to undertake the Cabal's will. Please PM me if interested.

We will not be holding weekly events. Keep focus on the guild forum to see what we are planning.

Well, the Ziggurat of Dominion could be good as a distraction to a summoning.
