Vyndus' adventures
#16
The leather gloves squeaked slightly as Vyndus' fists tightened. Once again sitting on a chair in his house, the man's head housed a hurricane of thoughts. He grits his teeth, grinding them as his thoughts repeatedly played themselves out in his head.

"Pathetic, you allowed her to escape."
"They're mocking you, injuring you like that then calling the fight off."
"The hunter is nothing, without the prey."
"You were better off rotting in that jailcell."
"The punishment for lethal action is execution."
"Are you really going to let them laugh at you like this?"
"Worthless, no better than an earthworm that you would step on."
"Better the way you were, not like this."
"Weak."
"Lost."
"Misguided."

Vyndus' eyes twitch once as he finally gives in, screaming at the top of his lungs. No particular words or language, just a scream of pure and unbridled rage. His fists slowly loosen as he brings his hands up to stare at them, eyes narrowing as he looks at the black gloves. "The only way...to survive in a world like this, is to be cold, cruel even. No laws, no code of conduct, nothing." The man's features slowly relaxes as he flips opens his pocket watch, slowly moving his thumb to rub the engraving on the lid. He closes his eyes as he slides it into his pocket again. "I will protect you...all of you. Even if I have to burn down Silvermoon again, I swear that I will save you."

The man hums softly to himself as he purses his lips to keep the lit cigarette in his mouth. Vyndus frowns as he twirls the pen a few times as he rereads the list over and over again. He blinks as he quickly jots down another item. "Suns...scale...salmon. Fish, meat, veggies, fruits, bread and deserts...Yup, everything is good." Vyndus smiles as he walks into the shop, eyeing over the different types of fish for sale. He points to the fattest fish on sale. The goblin leers at him as he rubs his hands together, tossing the fish into a paper bag as he hands it to Vyndus. After a heated argument on how fish will never cost ten gold, Vyndus storms out of the shop with a bag of fish and fifty silvers poorer. He sighs as he ticks another item off his list before pocketing it again. "Flowers...best to go back to Silvermoon for that."

Vyndus groaned as he stepped out of the teleporter, his world spinning as he staggered around. He squeezed his eyes shut and moaned once before he dropped to his knees. After a brief bout with struggling to keep his dinner inside of his stomach the man slowly gets to his feet, beggining his journey back home. Once he got to his door he sighed as he reread his letter quickly.

Quote:To my dearest,

I am going away on a trip to Ashenvale for a few days. I'll leave some money in my desk for you to buy food if you want to. When I come back, I'll give you your surprise okay? But untill then, keep practicing and try not to make too big of a mess alright?

Best regards, and love, Vyndus.

Vyndus sighed as he dropped the bouquet of flowers onto the doorstep, tucking the letter into the bundle of flowers. "I'll miss you."

A few hours passed by before Vyndus finally found a willing Magister. Both of them walked out of the city as the mage busied himself with etching some symbols onto a small talisman. He hands Vyndus the necklace and holds out his hand expectantly. "Fifty silvers." Vyndus rolls his eyes before nodding, handing the man a single gold coin before walking off. "Keep the change, but I'm coming with a vengeance if it doesn't work." Vyndus slided a few silvers into the teleporter, gasping as he stepped out to smell the scent of the sea lingering in the air. The man's normally pale skintone paled even more as he rushed over to the dock, quickly emptying his stomach of any food in it. He growled as he looked up at the goblin by the dock. "Last call for any land lubbers! We pull up anchors in two, count down starting now!" Vyndus surges to his feet, running over to quickly hand the goblin a few coins, nodding his thanks as he boards the boat for Ratchet. He pulls out a small map from the pouch on his belt, quickly tracing the route from Ratchet to Ashenvale. He looks down at the talisman on his chest, looking at his reflection through his blade. His eyes, now a bright blue as he nods in approval. "Blue eyes...how I've missed you." He smirks as he joins in silently with the goblin when he begins to count down.

"Three! Two! One! Anchors up boys!"
"Three, two, one, ready or not Miruka, here I come."

Vyndus gazed into the barrel of water, slowly drawing circles into it and watching the ripples. He smiles softly before taking losing his smile, unholstering his gun. He squeezes his eyes shut as Marianna's words echo into his mind. Memories flash into his mind. The talk with Thragash, the first time he saw Mika again after months, the time when he had snuck into his own house after he was brought back and saw Py there. The nice thoughts were instantly shattered as Marianna's face appeared into his mind. "I am simply going to cut down the competition." Vyndus groaned as he holstered the revolver, slowly beggining his journey back towards Booty Bay. "Her life..." His thoughts flashed towards memories at the beach, comforting her at the camp in the forest, and his first time kissing her. Then another man's voice flashed into his head, breaking the silence. "The trick is to just not give a shit."

Vyndus slowly nods as a dark grin spread on his face. "Not give a shit...well said indeed master. The master, truly is, a master." Vyndus sighed as he slowly got onto his bike, kicking the stand down to park it. Then his father's voice echoed in his head, talking with a tone only fit for lecturing a child. "It is said that every strong man has a weak point, it seems she has found yours." The man's eyes twitch as he frowns, drawing a hand over the gun holstered on his waist. "I have experienced pain before, I know how it feels. I can get on with it. Her life for mines, it is a fair exchange and nothing less of what I would expect of her." He smirked as he begins to walk through the tunnel, going back into Booty Bay.

Vyndus sighed as his fingertips lightly drifted against the shattered mask on his desk. His memories flashed back to the fight in the arena, shattering his mask to allow himself a better field of vision. "Why is it...that everything I touch breaks?" He closed his eyes and shook his head as his mind answered for him. "Because you yourself, are broken. It makes sense for the broken, to break things in turn." The man smirked as he shrugs, kicking his feet onto the desk, slowly taking a sip from the glass of wine he held. "Doesn't matter...I believe in myself. You can't win the fight if you already think that you've lost right?" Vyndus sighs as he glances at the small box on his desk. "Besides...I have friends who believe in me. I'm double the man that I was before. I've learned lessons from my failings...hopefully." The man's memories flash back to the fights at the arena, the many times he had nearly died, the people he had seen and met, and the mistakes he had made. Vyndus chuckled as he shakes his head, taking another sip from the wine glass. "So many lessons learned, so many regrets...There is only more to come in the future though."

As he finishes the glass of wine, he sets it onto the table again and sighs as he picks up the small velvet covered box. "You will ruin it. Just like last time, you couldn't even protect yourself. How do you expect to protect her?" Vyndus smiled as he gives the box a squeeze before sighing again. "I'd perfer to let things flow from there, best not to trouble myself trying to foretell my own fate." Vyndus pauses for a moment before chuckling. "Then again, I might end up forever alone." Vyndus sighs softly before gingerly licking his split bottom lip, wincing as the cut protests in pain. The man slowly closes his eyes, hand still clutching the box as fatigue slowly overcomes him. "How long has it been since I've felt sleepy like this...?" Vyndus manages one last smile as he answers his own question before quickly falling asleep in the chair.

"Too long."

The man sighed as he got off his bike, tugging down on his goggles to let them hang down on his neck. He grunts as he took the large gift from the passenger seat, walking over to the small house. He walked over and knocked twice before covering the peephole. "Eheh...Vyndus, it's obvious it's you." The door clanks as it unlocks, slowly opening to reveal an elf with long flowing gray hair, tied back in a ponytail. Vyndus smiled back as he holds out the large box covered in pink wrapping paper. "Where's the kid?" The aged elf smiled as he nods at the stairs, a young man walked down the stairs, waving at Vyndus "You made it! Ann'da said you might be busy with work but you came!" The grizzled elf sighed in exasperation as he leading him to the dining room. "Come, the cake is here." The young adult rolled his eyes, his tone taking on a more whining quality. "But it's nearly been a week since mister Vyndus visited. He said he would bring me a gift with a large bang the next time he came!" Vyndus smiled and nodded once as he took a seat, slowly eating his slice of the cake. "Yes...a large...bang." Vyndus turned his attention back to the man and smiled politely. "House so close to the Dead Scar, must be dangerous huh?" The aged elf shrugs, letting out a sigh as he finished his cake. "That's where the old training comes in I guess. Any ghoul that comes within range of my son...well, they better be prepared for a fist or a cleaver to the face." The young man smiled brightly as he looked up, cream covering his lips. "Father...I'm not a kid anymore. If I was fourty, I would understand but this day I'm turning of age!" Vyndus slowly nodded then coughed lightly. "Sorry to hear about your old partner." The man took a deep breath before sighing loudly. "Anne...go to your room for a moment, me and Vyndus need to talk." The man pouted before pattering off to the stairs. "I'm not a kid any-...screw it. Fine, have it your way."

"Rumor is, some physco started a fire in the tavern and left him to burn with it." Vyndus pursed his lips, and shook his head with mock disgust. "...Did they find anything else?" The elder shook his head as he rubbed his temple. "No...the place was burnt down. Anything that could've been of use was either taken away, or left to burn with the body." Vyndus slowly nodded before reaching behind his back. "To be honest..." The man looked up with perked brows as he watches Vyndus. "Yeah?" Vyndus quickly kicks back the chair, standing up as he unholsters his revolver, pointing it at the other elf in front of him. "I did it." The man's eyes widen before his brows furrow. "W-...but why?!" Vyndus shrugs, keeping a steady aim at the man as he slowly paces around the room. "You two made my life a living hell. Why not?" The ex-guard quickly takes the knife he had used to cut the cake, whipping it at Vyndus before running at him in an attempt to bullrush him. Vyndus' eyes widened as the knife flew at him, firing the gun, only to deflect the knife away. Both of them sprawled onto the floor with the elder of the two, throwing punches at the one below him. Vyndus grunted as he droped the gun to block the punches, being careful not to let any blows actually hit his face. "Like hell you're killing me too!" The man snarled as he continously threw his fists at the younger man. Vyndus stopped, grabbing both fists with his hands before kneeing the man in the stomach, tossing the elf over himself as he stood back up, reaching to grab his gun. Then other elf's eyes widened as he saw the gun, quickly diving to tackle Vyndus' legs in an attempt to stop him. The maneuver worked as Vyndus was sent crashing to the ground, shattering the glass table. As the elf crawled ontop of Vyndus, resuming his barrage of attacks at him his son rushed downstairs, alarmed by the sudden noise. "Ann'da?! What are you doing?!" The man looked back, eyes filled with alarm at his child before he suddenly froze, stiffening. The room went silent as the sound of a knife sliding out was heard.

"W-w...w-what?" The old guard looked down disbeleivingly at the knife embedded in his chest. "I thought I told you, this knife is one of my most prized posessions. I always bring it out with me." Vyndus jerked the knife out of the man, rolling him onto his back as he proceeded to stab him repeatedly. Slowly standing up, Vyndus slide the knife back into it's sheath and pocketed it again, taking his time in fixing his fedora. He turned to look at the young man standing by the doorway, frozen in fear with his eyes wide. "Do you hate me?" The young man screamed as he charged forward, arms flailing at his father's killer. Vyndus stepped out of the way of the enraged elf, gripping his arm and shoulder before throwing him off his feet and onto the ground. Vyndus got to his feet, walking over to take the knife that had been used to cut the cake. With one swift motion, he embedded the knife into the other man's stomach before wrenching it out and setting it in the dead elf's hand. He then began to walk out of the house, stopping in his tracks as the young elf gripped his leg. "G-get...back here. L-look me...in the eye as I-I die. I-I...want...t-to watch you a-as you r-realize...what you've done." Vyndus frowned, as he kicked the man's hand away. Walking over, he tilts his head as he remains silent before suddenly stomping down on the man's kneecap. A loud crack is heard accompanied by a scream. Vyndus then proceeds to walk out of the house, quickly returning in a few minutes with a medium sized barrel of gasoline. Beggining his task, he ignored the man's moans of pain as he gripped his knee. The task was done within minutes as Vyndus emptied the last bit of oil on the dying elf. "It didn't have to turn out this way...you could've stayed upstairs." The young elf's only response was to spit and scream as he was quickly drenched in gasoline. "It's...been a pleasure knowing you. This will be our last meeting." Vyndus sighed as he walked into the kitchen, taking the lantern on the counter before walking out of the house. No words were spoken, no witty remarks or biting humor as he tossed the lantern through the window and into the house. Vyndus quickly walked back to his bike, putting the empty barrel of gasoline in the passenger seat, using a blanket to hide it. He offered one final glance at the burning house before driving away quickly. "Sorry, just...bad luck you had to be his son."

Spoiler:
The robed man looked at the map one more time to check if he had arrived in the right spot. Once certain he had not arrived at the wrong place, he knocked on the door of the crudely built hut. A muffled voice from behind the door broke the silence. "Slip your card under the door, and state your name." Vyndus looked down at the small card he had been given, and sighed as he slid it under the space under the door. "Erm...Crow? Or...yeah, Crow. This codename is so stupid." The door creaks as bolts and locks are opened and unlocked before it finally slides open. "Come in, were you followed?" Vyndus shook his head as he tugged his hood down a bit more. "No, is everyone here?" The man wearing a trenchcoat nodded once as he stepped onto the podium at the centre of the small hut. "My friends! A new age is coming...One, of freedom and truth! No more lies, and opression from the government! We will take back our city, and force them to give us what we want! And tell me..." The room became deathly silent, Vyndus rolled his eyes under the hood as he sighed softly to himself. The man circled around the podium before speaking softly. "Tell me, my comrades...What. Do. We. Want?!" The small group of people went wild, screaming at the top of their lungs. "Freedom!"

A single gunshot rang out, in the cramped conditions of the hut it was deafening for everyone present. The man standing on the podium widened his eyes as he slowly looked down, to see a hole in the centre of his coat. Blood slowly trickled down, before he collapsed onto his back, gasping for his breath. The crowd went silent, looking around in a frenzy for their attacker. Slowly, Vyndus drew his sword from his waist as he looked at the crowd for any that might prove to be a threat. Everything was still for a moment before Vyndus sprang forward, his sword flashing at the crowd. Their locks and security mechanisms worked against them this time, as it took too long to properly unlock the door to get away. Old voices and memories flashed in his head as he began his work.

"Cannabalism, even as babies they view each other as nothing more than prey."

Blood sprayed onto Vyndus' hood, covering his sword as well as his robes. The remaining ammount of people that hadn't been caught by surprise at his sudden attack cowered in the corner of the room as they looked around in desperation for anything that could be used to defend against the man.

"Shark pups incubate in the mother's womb, then as they hatch, their battle for survival begins. Whoever hatches last, dies."

A limb goes flying as Vyndus' pupils dialate at the sight of the blood. Two people remaining now, He takes a deep breath as he tries to calm himself, glaring at the survivors. "Do you know...why I do this?" Vyndus doesn't bother to let them answer, shrugging as he slowly walks towards them. "It's because people say that people who turn against their comrades are sure to die terrible and painful deaths. You know, I have someone I have to return to...I'd rather not die. So, to put it simply...it's either you, or me." Vyndus grinned, the type of grin a shark would give before eating it's meal before he lunged at the people.

"The way it feels to kill your own kind, it's impossible to describe how it feels isn't it? It's a feeling that you hate, but love at the same time."

Vyndus let his sword point at the ground, panting as he looked around the room to observe the mess he had made. Blood covered the walls in splatters, with limbs and organs strewn across the floor. Vyndus threw back his hood, sheathing his sword across his waist again as he looked down at his robes. "...Ruined, as expected. At least I can go home now." Vyndus sighed as he looked back at the corpse littered room, carefully unlocking and opening the door. He reached into his bag, carefully pulling out a sealed letter. The man then tossed it back into the room before closing the door again. "Incriminating evidence incase they ever find this place, dead bodies...and I'm good to go." The man tugged off his robes, tossing them into the hut before getting into his motorcycle, and riding off into the darkness of the night again.

The silver haired elf slammed his hands down onto the table in front of the other elf facing him, his face a mask of unrestrained hatred and rage. "And what about the incident with the two men killed? Their dwellings were both burned down and killed. Don't tell me you weren't related to those 'accidents'?!" Vyndus paused for a moment before tilting his head slightly, relaxing into his seat and offering the man a small smile. "You can scream all you want, but that won't force my mouth open." The man snarled at him, rushing forward only to be restrained by his partner. "Calm down, if you attack him it'll only give him something to yap about." Vyndus nods slowly and smirks. "Please officer, do hold your temper in. It's nearly been the maximum number of hours you can detain me. Have you found any evidence other than a robe I bought and wore?" The calmer of the two elves smiled back pleasantly and shook his head. "No, but we're working on it. Would you like to say anything to make this visit a more pleasant one?" Vyndus paused for a moment before shrugging. "You could always tell that berserker over there to calm down before he bursts a blood vessel." The elf with silver hair shrugs, taking in a deep breath before storming out of the room.

"Ah, I think I upset him." The remaining investigator smiled and simply shrugged once. "You have a tedency to do that it seems. Now, back to business please. What do you know about the two killings that had both houses burnt down, the massacre near the Golden Strand, and the one in the forest?" Vyndus shrugged back and pursed his lips. "Nothing, zero, nada. I actually wonder why you would think I'm tied to any of these murders. I'm just a lowly weapons dealer you know?" The elf sitting opposite to Vyndus smiled tightly. "Sir, please don't lie to us. Your company has barely sold enough to make a profit. You're getting your money some other way, that much is obvious." Vyndus shrugged once again and took a deep breath, leaning slightly. "Two minutes left sir, anything else you're dying to ask me?" The man shrugged, walking over to release the handcuffs binding Vyndus to his chair. "Have the two minutes, I can see this is going to go nowhere." The man snapped his fingers and walked out of the room, followed by two arcane guardians. "See yourself out, if we catch you snooping around you'll be dealt with lethal force." Vyndus smirked as he massaged his wrists for a moment before standing up. He takes a moment to dust off his suit jacket and straighten his tie before putting on his hat and walking out of the building.

Several days ago...

Vyndus was standing in a dimly lit hall, squinting to make out the shapes that was standing in front of him. "Who are you...what the f**k do you want?!" The group laughed quietly, in unison. The very sound of it unnerved Vyndus, causing the hairs on the back of his neck to stand up. "Answer me!" Two people walk out of the crowd, their eerie grins the only thing visible in the dim light. "We, are here to take what you took from us." Vyndus growled as he quickly reached behind his back only to find air instead of a revolver. "And what did I take from you? Your girlfriend?" The two figures stepped forward to reveal two charred bodies, blackened flesh with occasional bones showing. "You took away my life, but you haven't died as a penance. So!" The two corpses pointed to behind Vyndus, grinning wickedly. Vyndus whirled around, his eyes widening in horror as he saw Py, tied to a chair. Vyndus screamed in rage, swinging a fist at the burnt body only to watch it dissolve into a black mist and reform next to the bound woman, clutching a knife.

"Please...don't." The grin slowly spread, cracking the burnt flesh even further. "Too late...it's only fair." The man raised the knife, swinging it down towards the woman. Vyndus' eyes widen as he runs forward in a desperate attempt to block the knife. Just before the knife connects, Vyndus snaps awake. Screaming at the top of his lungs, the terrified elf crawled away from the cushion he had passed out on and slammed a fist into the wall. As his breathing slowly calmed, Vyndus surveyed the room. Papers were everywhere along with cushions on the floor. After a few minutes, the elf finally managed to regain his composure as he shuffled over to pick up a piece of paper. The elf's voice was hoarse from screaming. "Dalaran...and it just ends." Vyndus' eyes slowly close, as the paper slowly flutters out of his hand. He takes a shaky step before falling down, clutching a nearby cushion. The man's face contorts into a strained smile before it changes into a frown. Vyndus falls forward to bury his face into the cushion as he lets out sobs, his whole body trembling. It continues for several minutes before the man slowly drifts off into sleep, still clutching the tear stained pillow tightly.

This will be a break from playing Vyndus, as he will have gone missing ICly. As for this post's ending, he's not dead.

Spoiler:

Vyndus had lost track of time, for all he knew it could've been a whole week since he had started to run. He had let his feet take him wherever they wanted to go, paying no heed to the land around him or what had lay ahead of him. He just knew he had to get away from it all. The pain that he felt everytime he opened the door to the house only to see it empty. The guilt he would feel everytime he captured someone and saw their horrified faces. He had finally realized that he couldn't take it anymore. He needed a break, some time to allow himself to calm down. As he ran by a pair of trees by a hill, the memories came at him again. Tormenting him endlessly, as they reminded him of days long gone. Two elves sat by the tree, smiling as they joked and laughed at each other.

Vyndus ran by the waterfall, only barely aware of himself passing by it. A new set of memories flashed in his head. Two elves laying side by side as one of them prodded the other one, repeatedly asking questions. Tears slowly made it's way down his cheek as he shook his head, only speeding up the pace at which he ran. As the elf made his way up the cliff, he finally dropped to his knees. Vyndus panted as he struggled to catch his breath, exhaustion finally setting in. As he slowly looked up, the female elf caught his eye. A slender hand slowly beckoned him over, with Vyndus complying as he forced himself onto his feet. "...It's you." The elf nodded once slowly, a small smile playing on her lips as she spoke. "Come, join me on the other side of sanity. I will relieve you of the weight of your burdens." Vyndus nodded once, before throwing himself off the cliff and into the roaring waves below him.

Spoiler:

Brilliant white petals of snow flew chaotically, propelled by powerful gusts of wind. A blizzard, not unnatural for this area of Northrend. Stray wisps of platinum silver hair along with two elongated ears whipping around in the wind as they stuck out from the white balaclava the Elf was wearing. The man's twin-bladed sword lay on his lap as he sat cross-legged on the snow covered mountainside cliff. "You want to learn how to kill quietly, then slip into the shadow as if you were never there. This requires peace. Peace of mind, and peace in your heart. You must find your inner peace, and through that serenity, muster the strength to detach yourself completely. When your heart is free from your emotional attachments, find me once more and you will learn." Vyndus' eyes opened as he gazed up at the peak of the mountain, possibly no more than five hundred meter climb.

"If you have any extra space in your bag, you shall carry enough bricks to fill up the space. They will symbolize your extra baggage if you will. Your unwanted memories, regrets, doubts, anything that hinders you." Vyndus raised an eyebrow at the Elf facing him, a look of doubt appearing on his face. "And if I choose to only put one brick in? Or none at all?" The auburn haired Elf shrugged, turning away as she carefully walked from him. "That is your choice, and I will not attempt to dissuade you if you choose that path. I will only tell you this, at this stage you are like a child. When you are angry, you scream and yell at whatever raises your hackles. When you are hungry, you buy yourself a whole roast pig only to throw out the rest of the food when you are sated. These..." The woman turned back to smirk at Vyndus briefly before walking out the door. "Are not traits of a mature individual, and are definitely not traits of any trained assassin."

Vyndus gritted his teeth as he slammed the pickaxe into the sheet of ice, grunting as he pulled himself up the side of the mountain. The bag was weighing him down, that much was for sure. He had managed to fit seven bricks into it after he had packed all of the necessities for the trip. His sword, he had never noticed how heavy it was but now that his all of his energy was being used up he definitely felt the added weight of the weapon. Tears ran down his face, the cold Northern winds stinging his eyes as he climbed towards his destination. "Peace... how do I find the strength needed to finish this with inner peace?!" Vyndus hissed to himself as he burried the pickaxe into ice again. "Peace... Peace, is a lie made to motivate fools into giving away their lives like bread and spare change." The Elf continued to mutter spitefully to himself as he climbed. Barely a hundred meters remained, but that distance seemed further and further away as the Elf's body slowly lost it's vigorous energy.

"So it's not enough that I handicap myself with a shit ton of bricks. I need to bind my legs together before I climb so if I do fall, I won't be able to stop myself and fall to my inevitable death." The Elf shrugged with a slight frown. "Doubting your ability? You have already lost half the battle already then." Vyndus' eyes widened, stepping forward as he opened his mouth to retort. "There are two types of people in this world Vyndus, you would do well to remember this. There are the people who claim they could wrestle an ogre and come out unscathed but yet to show they can do so. And then, there are the people who's abilities talk for them, they have no need to boast or brag of what they can do. They are perfectly aware of their limitations, and their restrictions." Vyndus' eyes narrowed, arms slowly crossing across his chest. "What are you trying to say? That I'm the first type?" The brown haired elf shrugged once again, this time her face containing hints of teasing. "I never said that, you only thought that because in your heart, you already know which type of person you are."

Vyndus' hands shot up as he pulled himself up again. His muscles in his abdomen had been cramping since ten minutes ago, the pain was causing him to lose his focus. "Do not shy away from the pain, embrace it. Without pain and self sacrifice, there is nothing." Vyndus groaned as the muscles in his arm strained from the rigorous training. His entire body shook and shivered as he fought against his body's instinct to simply relax. Two seconds, was all it would take for him to open his hands and fall into oblivion. Sweet release from the pain he was experiencing currently, but that would be too easy. "If the world wants to play with you, then you have to fight back. Stand strong as the wicked try to inflict pain upon you, then turn that pain into strength and use it against them." Vyndus screamed as he let go of one of the pickaxes, using his other arm to lift himself up onto the peak of the mountain.

Seven bricks thudded into the snow covered ground as Vyndus emptied out his bag. Thick iron chains followed swiftly as Vyndus freed himself from his bonds, standing up to look around. The exhausted Elf tore off the balaclava, tossing it off the mountain. Vyndus heaved a sigh as he rummaged around his bag, frowning as he felt something inside he had not remembered packing. A note, stained with melted snow and crumpled from constantly throwing his bag around. Vyndus' eyes quickly scanned the yellow piece of paper before smirking and crumpling it. "No... you have lost, I've won. There is no inner peace, only pain and passion." Vyndus let out a soft sigh before flopping onto his back, the man drifting off into a deep sleep.

Ironic isn't it?

How the predator became the prey?

How you could be reduced to a quivering wreck just by seeing her?

Green eyes snapped open to stare at the cavern's ceiling. "... Just a dream." Vyndus breathed out raggedly, shivering. The man thought back to all the times he had complained about the Barren's heat. "I'd do anything to be there rather than in this hole." He sighs, leaning against the wall, slowly sliding down into a sitting position. Was it worth it? The time you spent searching, hunting, looking. All the sleepless nights you spent worrying, planning, and plotting? All that work, just to be locked up with near certain death. A pause as the man mulled over his thoughts, glancing around the dreary looking cave. "... Of course it was." He mumbled softly. They were word meant for him to hear, he had to hear them, had to listen to himself say it in order to confirm it. Doubt clouded his mind, along with blinding anger. He wanted to convince himself he wasn't sure what he was angry at, but deep down he knew. Anger at her for disappearing like that. Anger for the time he had spent searching. But deep down, he knew it was a cover, an excuse to shift the blame somewhere else. Deep down, the one who was truly angry at, was nobody other then himself.

"I've been trapped in here for several days already, by unknown captors. They want us alive, otherwise they wouldn't have sent the elemental to protect the prisoners from the guard's misplaced wrath." He pauses, letting out a smooth stream of curses slip from his mouth. "Idiots, the bunch of them." He sighs, shifting positions so he supported his body with his arms and legs. Slowly, he began to drop his body down, then push it back up. Are you truly happy for seeing her again? Perhaps it was better the way it was. The goal you held onto so dearly finally realized, but now what? Both of you are trapped, unable to escape. It seems that after all this time, it did not bring you happiness, but only more misery and despair. Vyndus grunted as he continued to exercise his muscles, the burning sensation in his arms and chest serving to focus his mind from the distractions. Needless distractions they were, thoughts that served only to feed his own ego and paranoia. Vyndus slowly exhales as he stops, getting to his feet. "... Can't get distracted." He mutters, eyes scanning the cave for any more purple runic markings on the floor. Content that there were none he could see, the Elf moved back to his usual rock that he had kept clean. "I'm getting out of here." He mumbles once before repeating the sentence more firmly. "I'm getting out of here... and when we go home..." He pauses as his voice cracked, his throat tightening up. "... And when we go home, we'll buy the biggest cake and celebrate." He chokes out, forcing a brief smile onto his face.
