Bleu`s Introduction
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player.:
Well, to start things off, this isn't my first time here on CotH. I signed up a long time ago under the username "Salsa", and while that account has been promoted to Grunt status already, I figured it would be better if I just rolled a new account, since I can't remember anyone I interacted with when I used to play on here, and I'm sure several rules have changed (which I'll have to refresh myself on, despite my hunch that most of the things I need to know are common sense for most mature peeps). Beyond that, I've been playing WoW long enough to know my way around the game, and to know my fair share of lore as well. I've been role playing since I was just a wee lass, and I've had my fair share of clichéd characters and Mary Sues. I like to believe that I've greatly improved throughout the years, but I still find myself frowning at my own writing, since I *know* I can do better with it. Some people call that a bad habit, but I like to believe that the moment you become content with your writing abilities, you'll simply stop moving forward. I'm my own worst critic, and I strive to have fun and make my writing enjoyable for everyone who reads it.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?
I come from the United States of America, and English is my primary language, with a smidge of German on the side as a secondary language (I took German 1 in High School, and that's as far as I ever got).

How did you get into Warcraft?:
I used to watch my uncle play video games on his computer, ranging from Halo (the original) to City of Heroes. Eventually, he got sucked into World of Warcraft, and I followed suit, playing off of his account until I finally bought the game for myself. I was terrible at it at first, but eventually, I figured out how to play the game, and developed some internet-people-skills.

What made you seek our server over others? (or How did you find us?):
Honestly, I don't remember how I originally found this server. I assume that I was looking for a private role play server, but I'm sure a simple Google search wasn't enough. As I stated above, I originally signed up on this site awhile back under the username "Salsa", but since I've been gone for such a long time, and I don't remember anyone here, I figured I would make a new account and start fresh. Also, I tried hosting my own private server, but it quickly grew dull with just a single friend to role play with, so I tried to remember this server's name, and voilà, here I am.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
Honestly, having played retail WoW for so long, there are certain situations that have gotten really old for me. Tavern role play, for one. Sure, there's a time and place for sitting down with your buddies after a difficult trek through Stranglethorn or a successful battle against the Scourge, but there's no point in wasting my time day in and day out in a tavern, when there's plenty of adventure to be had in the outside world (of warcraft). Fighting has it's own special flair, but I find that so many people strive to win that they simply cannot accept defeat, assuming that a graze of the blade against one's cheek is going to kill their character. I, for one, try to fight as realistically as possible (be it with the /roll system or just plain old emote trusting). If my character stumbles with a lunge (which typically happens, those poor souls), I'm not going to pull magical demon wings out of my arse and correct my balance. Nor am I going to parry an attack that came from behind. If a sword or axe comes at my gut, and my sword arm is too slow, or my shield has been knocked aside, my stomach gets to taste some cold steel. But I digress. I truly enjoy all sorts of role play, ranging from small encounters to guild-sized ones. I typically avoid the spot-light, simply because I tend to space out at times (real life is important, yo) or because I worry about making some terrible mistake simply because of my worries and not my character's, but that doesn't mean I can't handle a little pressure or responsibility (my characters just tend to avoid it, see).

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
That's honestly a tough one to answer. I love the Draenei, and more importantly their *legs*. Unf. Joking aside, I have a deep love for the Darkspear Trolls, Forsaken, and Dwarves. That doesn't mean I don't love the Sin'dorei or the Gnomes, though! I play all sorts of characters, and pride myself on being able to manage all sorts of different roles and persona's. My favorite class has got to be a fire mage, though. Oh man, arcane mage may be able to absolutely destroy a single target like no man's business, but a fire mage is a blast to role play and to dish out some mean AoE DPS with. Second favorite has to be a hunter or rogue, with some more weight behind rogue. Hunters are tons of fun, but I've never gotten far with them. I started the game playing a rogue, and they've stuck ever since (i lyk 2 play dps). I've only tanked about five times in my life, and that was because the group's former tank was being an idiot and got kicked, so I had to fill in for him as a fury warrior. I found a shield, and kinda got used to it. Healing terrifies me, and is impossible for me to play properly. I have to keep moving (fire mage <3) or be doing some form of massive van damage. I've healed twice in my life, and both times felt like forever (no one went below 70%, though).

What are your expectations of this server?:
I expect everyone to kneel and bow at my impressive role play skills, and to become a GM so I can play the half-dragon I've always wanted to play. Honestly though, I expect this server to be full of competent and mature role players, who know their lore and their role play, who are tons of fun to chat with OOC and IC. I expect quality role play, and I firmly believe CotH will deliver.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
It's a tie between "Respect" and "Maturity". Both go hand-in-hand, but if I had to lean on one more than the other, I would go the maturity route. I've been role playing for a long time, and I've seen my fair share of intelligent people who are just absolutely immature and hold no respect for others. Intelligence ≠ Maturity. I don't mind playing games with younger people (hell, I play Call of Duty: Black Ops every now and again on Xbox Live [which is just full of immature and dare-I-say ignorant people]), since I've bumped into several youngsters who are incredibly bright and mature for their age (even brighter or more mature than I am!). I find that I can really respect someone when they have the patience to hear me out in an argument, or can carry an intellectual conversation without snickering to themselves when I say the word "duty".

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
(This was written to be an introduction post for an instant messenger role play session I was having over AIM. Enjoy!)

The docks creaked with the rhythmic slosh of calm ocean waters breaking against wooden support beams and rounded, moss covered stones. Silver and white light bled down into the city of Theramore from a dark, angry sky that spat streaks of blue and gold and white hot lightning at the trees on the mainland, bellowing and roaring its irritance at the city on the water as if its static charged frustration could tear the great tower in the city's center down into a heap of brick, mortar, iron, and wood by simply stabbing the ground across the water. The water carried a cold, grey mist on it, and though the rain skirted around Theramore itself, kept at bay by a stiff, northeast wind, the wooden docks and cobblestone streets were stained dark and slick with moisture where the fog crept off of the water and reached into the city like a shadow, oft breaking against the brick and stone buildings and retreating back to the gently sloshing ocean just beyond the rocks.

The torches in the streets had been doused, the night watch having lost interest in relighting them every time the wind picked up and the mage-students mostly having outgrown interest in lighting them for practice from their windows within the tower and barracks some months ago. Moonlight, however, washed the city in ample light despite the storm and fog, but it was the inn, perched on the grassy hill at the base of the northern wall, which burned away the shadows--warm, golden light blazing from its windows and the wide open entryway beside which two helmeted guards stood, their stomachs rumbling in cold, famished unison.

Inside a fire crackled in its berth, and the sitting room, bright and warm, was thick with the smell of spice breads and fresh cheeses, young women in blue and white gowns and aprons wielding the tasty snacks on wide wooden trays, dancing amidst the tables, chairs, and chattering patrons that all seemed to edge closer to the fire as the night grew older. Glasses, plates, and silverware tinkled and chimed, punctuating casual remembrances of days both long past and only recently committed to history, but it was the bar that entertained the interesting conversation. Clad in black and grey leather with a neatly groomed and striking goatee stood a man wearing one glove and wielding a clear glass that the innkeeper, Janene, was filling with brandy for the third time in as many minutes. While he gulped it down she frowned and set the bottle on the bar, careful to keep it out of his reach.

"Slow down," she said, her voice pleasant despite her face twisting with frustration or concern or both. "Who's making camp in the Dustwallow?"

"High Gen'ral Swiftwind, Seventh Legion out o'Orgr'mar," the man said, gasping into his empty glass and looking down at it as if he expected to fill it with his glare.

"And you know this how?" she asked, her fingers twisting around the bottle and sliding it away from him further.

"'cause I'm Andello Port'r," he said, narrowing his eyes at the innkeeper. "SI:7." His brown eyes met hers and danced with them back to the empty glass in his hand.

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
Nothing really comes to mind! I'm sure any questions I may have will be clarified as I take a second peek at the FAQ and Wiki.

One thing that I'm not sure about, though, is the fact that I have two accounts. The username "Salsa" is used by me, but I haven't actually been on the server or made a post in, gosh, maybe a year? I'd have to check. Anyhoo, that account has already been promoted to Gruntship, and I do remember sending a message to a GM (or was it an email? I forget) about being promoted to a Grunt. Would this apply at all to me now? Or should I just be patient and start fresh as the new girl on the block? Thanks for any clarification! I look forward to role playing with you all very soon!

Hello Bleu! I'm Loxmardin and it's my pleasure to welcome (back) you to Conquest of the Horde!

... Or Salsa! Welcome back! I for one remember you. :3 Though, you will need to start over from square one on this new account of yours, I'm afraid. Go through all the steps once more before you're able to reach Gruntship.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest that you double-check the rules and policies of the server on our very own CotH Wiki. If you have any questions, you should consult the Wiki and the available subforums which contain a fair bit of information ("Forum: Search" is your friend!) first but you are of course always welcome to contact a GM if you can't find what you're looking for, or ask on the forums!

Have fun, enjoy your stay and see you in-game!

Happy RPing!
