First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
When the internet and I were both young, I would frequent my favorite roleplaying chatroom every day. This was before even Ultima Online existed, and the idea of using video games as a means to roleplay was an attractive idea to most, but no developers had yet attempted it with much success. We had only text to work with, and everyone usually just worked off of the text in one another's messages. There were no prerendered environments to interact with, no sprites, only written descriptions. It was a very cooperative, imaginative, and communal experience, and I guess you could say that's where I cut my teeth. I played on this chatroom for a year or two before the site that hosted it went down, and to be honest, I haven't had the opportunity to do much roleplaying since.
This unfortunate fact is actually what brought me here. I miss working on stories with other creative people and forming relationships through a common work. I've played MMORPGs for years, but I've recently become frustrated because gamers now have an outright contempt for roleplaying in general or a complete lack of quality control for roleplaying. I enjoy playing games for their own merits, but I also want to enjoy them in the company of other people who can help me make an entertaining story with what we're given, and when I do encounter those people, I'd really rather they weren't doing it as characters from Naruto or Bleach.
All that said, looking back on my fondest roleplaying experiences, the best times I've had were the times that I simply learned the behaviors, likes, and dislikes of other characters and played in a way that would elicit a reaction that amused me as well as other players who were familiar with those characters. It wasn't a constant attempt to pick a fight or lord my knowledge of lore over others, it was an attempt to have fun, chat, and get to know other people through the characters they played. I enjoy the social aspect of roleplaying most of all, and probably due to the abject lack of roleplaying in MMOs, I've found that it's the social aspect of online gaming that I've come to enjoy least. I've come here hoping that I can recapture that feeling and in so doing, further my enjoyment of a decent video game.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I'm from the United States. English is my primary language.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
Several years ago I tried the two-week free trial of World of Warcraft. My impression of the game was that it was fun, but it was in no way fun enough to warrant $15 a month. Recently I've been playing WoW on another private server. With all of the content unlocked, I've been getting a bit more enjoyment out of it.

What made you seek our server over others? (Or how did you find us?):
Conquest of the Horde was the first result on a Google search for "World of Warcraft roleplay private server." I recently got tired of getting relentlessly ganked by level 80s on my private server while I was trying to do my level 25 quests, so I knew I wanted a roleplay server to get the fun of roleplaying that I'd been missing, and I also wanted a game experience that implemented as little custom garbage as possible. I've played Prologue WoW and was unhappy with how it dumped an entirely new system of play in your lap without adequate explanation. I checked out Millennium WoW and found that their servers were underpopulated and that they allowed for too much custom horseplay. I'm here because I wanted a simple way to enjoy the game and roleplay with others while I played, and I wanted some level of quality control in terms of the people I'd have to interact with.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
I enjoy goofing off with other players more than I enjoy fighting. I particularly dislike fighting other players unless I have an extremely compelling reason to. I've defused far more altercations than I've taken part in. Dungeon crawling is another matter, and I'm usually happy to go off on an adventure with other players if they can prove that they're friendly and will keep the group entertained while we do it. I tend to dislike studying lore, though I understand that when you're playing in a particular universe you need to have some familiarity with it. As such, I've read your rules and have familiarized myself with the Warcraft timeline, as that much only seems fair.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
I don't have a favorite class, but I LOVE the Undead. The game lets you play as a zombie. Seriously, how cool is that? Moreover, you're not a lumbering, mindless zombie, you're a completely sentient zombie who's fully aware of his plight, but still has a strange sense of pride in belonging to an entire race of people in his same unfortunate situation. That gives players a lot of possibilities for character development. Most Undead are angry and pissed off about it. But I also think there's a lot of humor to be gleaned from the concept of being dead and yet trying to function as a intelligent being.

What are your expectations of this server?:
I expect to enjoy an opportunity to make a good game even better by adding roleplay components which are sorely lacking in any other WoW environment. I expect my interactions to be welcomed with responses and consequences and I expect to be interacted with in return.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
I don't believe it's mentioned in your rules, but it's made clear in the forum. I like how this is an open PvP environment, but I can apparently also expect not to be suddenly and horrendously ganked and my corpse sodomized by swords and fireballs. I can't tell you how nice it will be to play on a server where I won't be raped mercilessly by people who've chosen to start out at level 80 and purchase all the best gear with vote points.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
If it's alright, I'd rather wait until I decide to move on to Grunstship to complete this. I hope that what I've written here convinces you that I'm literate and have some experience and know what to expect from a group of good roleplayers.

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
Nope. You've made everything pretty clear.

Welcome to CotH!

If you haven’t already, (which I know you have, because you’re just THAT awesome) I suggest you double and triple check the server’s rules and policies, over on the CotH Wiki. The whole thing is chock full of useful information such as the average heights, weights, and ages for characters, as well as other general server information. If you have any additional questions you can’t find over there, feel free to PM myself or another Forum Helper for further assistance. I hope you enjoy your stay here at CotH! (Don’t worry, I know you will.)

Do keep in mind however, we're not exactly 'open PvP'. It is an accepted method of getting a fight over with, but most people on the server roll or trust fight in place of the current battle mechanics. Actually, I've never seen anyone PvP in order to do an RP-oriented battle here on CotH.
