Red. It was all the man could see, at this point. He wasn't sure himself, if it was his extreme rage and hate that was clouding his eyes, or the blood splattering out from the wound he'd just forced against the Orc's shoulder. Regardless, having dealt the Orc another blow from his sword, Taan wasted little time stepping back again. His lungs burned to keep up with the strain of squaring off against three attackers at a time, but he hadn't a choice but to stand his ground. Behind him, clothes torn and face wet with fearful tears, was a smaller Draenei. A woman, scared out of her mind, was an intended victim of the three Orcs. Holding himself between the Orcs and the woman, the Draenei warrior had placed himself into harm's way to protect the woman, a Draenei he'd never even met. A thought crossed his mind, about the horrors these Orcs would force upon this poor woman, had he not crossed their paths when he did. He shook the thought off, an Orc roaring and charging forward, as he raised his sword to parry away the large axe swung his way. A jerk of his arm, and a shifted hoof against the ground, sent the Draenei's armoured elbow to smash against the Orc's jaw.

Pain. It was all the Orc felt, from the blow, as the bones of his cheek and jaw shattered from the impact of the Draenei's assault.

Wanting to waste no time with dispatching them all, Taan swung himself to the side, and violently tore the edge of his sword against the disabled Orc's throat. Blood sprayed out across his armour and the ground below, as the first of his targets fell to the dirt and gasped for air. He shifted himself back once more, using his body to shield the crying woman from the Orcs, as his sword was lifted to be ready for the next of them. He was left with no respite, another Orc rushing into the melee, as a pair of spiked hammers were swung for his head. The warrior dropped to a crouch, hammers smashing together just above his head, as he thrust himself upwards suddenly and rammed the plated crest of his head against the Orc's chin. The Orc suddenly shot his leg forward, smashing his armoured knee against the Draenei's stomach, before bringing his hammer against his shoulder. Taan gritted his teeth, refusing to allow himself to be moved and expose the woman, and merely held his ground.

Untill he had spotted an opening.

The Orc never even realized what had happened, the blade running through his chest, before it was quickly, and violently jerked up against his ribs and tore the Orc in half. The woman screamed, as the blood sprayed out against the remaining three of the group, and soaked the Draenei's armour a dark red. One left to deal with, he turned himself around and faced his final target down with a hateful glare. He was never prepared for the next attack, the Orc slamming his entire body against his, as he was knocked over and against the ground. Pinning him down, the Orc lifted a jagged blade from his belt, and swung it for Taan's throat. Fearing more for the poor woman's suffering, should he falter and be slain in this fight, he quickly released his sword from hand and grabbed the Orc by his own. The two struggled for control over the weapon, both deadset on killing the other, before the Orc was suddenly kicked in the chest and thrown back. Taan wasted no time getting to his hooves, knowing full well how quick this could change, if he doesn't.

The Orc was ready for him, having taken the blade with him when he was kicked, and rushed in at the Draenei. His armour failed him this time, and the blade slipped under a plate and into his chest, landing just shy of his lung. Pain shot through his body, blood rushing down his chest and along his armour, as he struggled to push through the attack. The woman went silent, stunned in shock and awe, as the Draenei suddenly bellowed out a roar and rammed himself against the Orc. Caught utterly offguard, the Orc was quickly slammed against the ground, an armoured hand forcing its way into his mouth. His struggling stopped, just as quickly as it began, as the Draenei suddenly tore the entire lower half of the Orc's jaw from him. The woman's eyes lit up in disblief, the Orc overwhelmed by pain, as Taan began violently bashing his armoured fists against the Orc's already bloodied face. His arms flailed, weak and in panic to end the agony he was in, as it was finally done so. The Draenei's fist punched straight into the Orc's skull, slamming it against the ground, before he resumed pounding the now dead body.

He wasn't even sure for how long he had been beating the Orc into paste, before he finally stopped to look back to the woman. He tried his best to see how she was, but the blood rolling down his forehead and into his eyes did little more than hinder him. A struggle to stand, but stand he did, as he weakly strode himself closer to the scared woman. Finally, the race of the fight died down, and the man began to feel every ounce of strain from the skirmish. The last thing he had seen, before toppling over and passing out, was a pair of Draenei men, running down the road to them both.

Nearly two days had passed, before he would wake, the same woman standing over him. A sharp pain in his chest, as he tried to sit upright, before a large hand held him back."Rest, brother. You are still wounded, and should not be moving." His eyes turned to his right, forced to lay back down, as he set his sights on a smiling woman beside him. Her smile brightened further, as she nodded her head. "Thank you... For saving me." Another man suddenly laughed, raising a hand up. "That is right! You have saved our sister from a horrible fate, at those Orcs' hands. I can not thank you enough." With a heavy frown, the bed-ridden man shrugged his shoulders. "No thanks. She is alright, all is well." And, with that, the man began to drift off into sleep.

A thought, crossing his mind in his sleep, dug at him. Only a minor source of relief. 'Atleast I could save her...'

Days. Nearly a week, thus far, the Draenei had been kept in bed, to recover from his wounds. Sleep never came easily, there always seemed time to 'explore' the room Taan had been placed in. He'd looked around from the bedside, hundreds of times, and could never seem to find anything of serious interest. Besides the simple bed he had been placed in, the only other object in the room itself was a small chest, resting against a nearby wall. Always out of reach, though he never actually made any attempt to search the chest, had kept the Draenei wondering what the chest contained. Carefully, he had set his arms to rest against his lap, little else to do really. For hours he stared at the opposing wall, thinking and thinking.

A voice came through from the doorway, a pair of figures stepped through and closed in around the man.

One of the men offered a faint smile, clapping his hands once together. "So! How are you feeling today, better I hope?" The man was always so 'happy', always showing atleast a weak attempt to smile, with each visit. Taan gave a slow nod of his head, a hand scratching his jaw as he did. "I will be fine." A frown, rather deep, began to show across the Draenei's lips, his words being outright ignored as the two men leaned in to check his bandages. Far from content to accept his own judgement on the matter, the two had taken turns eyeing his wounds, or atleast what had remained. "You are healing well, that is good. You should be ready to release, in due time." The smaller of the two men had always seemed to speak with such respect, always keeping himself firmly upright and always calm. "Excellent! Oh, I bet our sister will be very pleased to hear this..." The largest of the men in the room seemed to oppose the other, always seeming too quick to throw a joke around. A brow perked, as the more 'serious' of the two brothers turned to face the other. "Why do you always make such efforts to embarrass her?" The other was quick to snap back, a smile brightening. "Because it's funny!" Both of the other Draenei gave a heavy breath, Taan clearing his throat with a loud cough as he did.

"When am I able to leave?" The Draenei had begun to sound tired, somewhat annoyed even, as his eyes darted between the two others. "One day, maybe even two." The answer was of little comfort, but what the wounded man would have to cope with, regardless. A voice called from outside the room, though he was unable to make sense of it, Taan had little reason to doubt it was to call one out, as the larger Draenei soon left without a word. The remaining brother suddenly leaned over the bed, firmly pushing a hand against Taan's shoulder. The two excharged uncomfortable glares, before one spoke. "Pay attention, I shall not repeat myself. The Draenei had certainly earned the other's fullest attention, given his state, he wasn't in much a place to refuse. "Our young sister, the girl you were so 'kind' enough to rescue, appears to be rather infatuated with you, given your little 'heroics'..." Taan frowned more heavily, rather easily understanding what he had meant, since he been so straight with the matter. "Now, and I won't waste time explaining it all, but she has had her heart broken once already. I'll not stand for it to happen twice, in my lifetime. Am I clear?" "Understood. Now, hand off." Giving a firm squeeze first, the Draenei removed his hand from the man's shoulder, and stepped back.

The two turned to the doorway, a small figure trailing through and into the room with a bright smile across her lips. "How are you today?" It was already clear, to both of the men, this would be a long day...

"More on the left!" The armoured vindictator roared at the top of his lungs, a hand directed towards a pair of Fel-empowered Orcs as they came charging madly at the line of Draenei. Taan and a pair of others quickly rushed in the face them in battle. The smallest of the group never stood a chance, the pair of Orcs hacking him apart in a mere moment, before the others could get to him. "No mercy!" Taan bellowed out, raking his sword against the chest of one of the Orcs. The fight lasted only a few seconds longer, both of the Orcs being torn to shreds, as the now battered Draenei warriors fell back into line. It was absolute carnage, as far as the man could see, just senseless slaughter of his own people. "Fall back!" The order nearly stopped Taan's heart, the Orcs still swarming into the city, as there were still people yet to be escorted from the city.

Everything seemed to gray out, as Taan watched as a pair of Orcs charged after a woman, the man rushing to try and reach her in time. His body suddenly froze in place, unable to even breath, as he watched helplessly as the Orcs butchered the woman. The image of her face burned into his eyes, as he recognized his mate. It all went black, his head pounding violently, before he suddenly snapped upright in his bed. His lungs burned like they were set to flame, sweat covering most of his body, as he darted his eyes around the room. Struggling not to cry, Taan forced himself from the bed, and slowly walked over to the door. He was soon stopped, a large Draenei grabbing him by the shoulder. "Woah, there. You shouldn't be up and about, just yet." The two locked eyes, staring in what seemed like an awkward silence. "...You look like shit. Didn't sleep we-" The man stopped, finding himself with an angered looking man in front of him. "...Ooookay, hint taken." Hesitantly, the larger man helped Taan back into his bed.

Taan gave no effort to hide that he was not in a good mood, but refused to budge on any attempt to get him to open up. Both of the men looked to the door, watching a small woman stroll into the room. Her smile brightened, to the point they thought her cheeks may split, as she quickly moved beside the bed. "How are you, today?" Her brother gently nudged her shoulder, grinning from ear to ear. "Someone sure is interested in our 'guest'. A deep blush had shown on the woman's cheeks, a hand fidgeted with the other, as she shrugged his hand back. "Aha! I knew it!" The woman frowned deeply, throwing a pathetic excuse for a punch at her brother's chest. "Jerk!" Her brother merely laughed, rather clearly amused by all of this, as he suddenly grabbed her up in a hug. Taan simply observed the 'family matter', wiping some of the sweat off with a rag, before the woman took notice to him again. "You're all sweaty, did something happen?" It was an awkward few silent seconds, before the brother answered. "Oh, it's nothing! I just made him do some working out, is all."

Realizing what he'd just done, Taan merely nodded his head. The woman smiled, believing him to be recovering, and soon left the room for some chores. "My thanks, for that." Shaking his head, the man laughed in return. "Not at all! Besides, I'd rather not pry into whatever is going on inside your head." With a heaved breath, the still tired man fell back into his bed. "Very well..."

"...You haven't told me your name yet." The two men, alone in the room once more, stared at each other across the cloth padded bed. "I am Taan." The day had come and gone, only night left for anyone still awake and about. "Taan? Eh, simple enough... Err, don't get me wrong, not a ba-" The Draenei was merely digging his hole deeper, one his 'conversation partner' had seen fit to stop. "It is alright. I do not mind." The now nervous man nodded his head, quite releaved that he'd not dug his hole too deep. "Look... My brother likely talked with you already, but... Let our sister down easy, alright?" This subject seemed to come up alot, atleast once or twice a day, and always with the same 'idea' in mind. Regardless, the man got a nod for his question. "I shall do my best, atleast."

The door had suddenly swung opened, a smaller Draenei swiftly stepping inside. "I have good news. You are ready to be released, your wounds have healed. Now, I ask you leave, at once." The younger brother perked a brow, looking clearly upset. "Hey, now. No need to be ki-" With a snap of his fingers, the eldest sternly cut his words off. "Don't question me, I know what's best. Now, 'sir', you need to leave." Taan was rather caught between the two 'arguements', merely observing the two as they darted back and forth at one another. "You think this'll do her any good? When she comes back to see him, and finds him come and gone!? What then?" The two must have gone at it for nearly an hour, snapping back at the other, before taking a 'blow' of their own. The, seemingly now healed, Draenei began to ponder if it would be best that he left now, before the door swung ajar again. "Hey... I heard yelling. Is everything alright?" Oh, did it ever become awkward, everyone turning to stare in silence at the woman. After a short explaination, and a clearly upset little girl, the eldest had dictated that the man she seemed so interested in was leaving, for good. She broke down, first into a quick bout of anger, before losing that to a fit of tears. The eldest snapped at her, demanding she be stronger, before the younger brother called out at him. "Hey! I think you should let her be in charge of her own feelings, so butt out!" Stuck in the middle of it all, Taan began to ponder his own options, looking both to the crying girl and the doorway, before making a choice.

"The door is thi-" It was all the man had managed, before Taan smashed a fist against the side of his jaw, and slammed him to the ground. "You ungra-" Another cut off sentence, as he was suddenly picked up at the shoulders. "That is your little sister! It is your job to protect her, and see her happy. Now. You yell at her again like that, you make her feel like shit because she possibly mistakes her own feelings, and I'll break that jaw next time." And, with that, Taan threw the man back against the wall, helped the youngest sister upright again, and walked her out of the room.

The remaining two, in silence, remained inside the room. "...Kicked your-" "Shut up."

"This is good bye, then...?" Taan gave her little more than a slow nod of his head, as the two of them distanced themselves from the home with slow strides. "Am I ever going to see you again?" The two stared at each other, despite the angle from the height of the man, before she got her answer. "I will come back, to visit, later. Perhaps you will have bettered your own feelings, by then, and can think clearly." The two exchanged a few more words, before the young woman suddenly grabbed Taan's waist in a firm hug, the man simply allowing her before she pulled away again. The two parted ways, the woman returning to her home and brothers, as the man strode off from the area and on with is on affairs. After nearly three hours of walking, he came to a settlement built atop a large mushroom. Having taken the elevator to the upper level, Taan began his search for his friends, though with little in the way of success. Tired from the long walk, as well as recent matters, he didn't give a second thought to renting a room at the local inn, and took to a bed for the night.

His mind, for the night of rest, was bombarded with nightmarish terrors and hellish torture from his past, relentlessly keeping his sleep troubled. Regardless, Taan slept through most of the night, only waking in the early morning heavily breathing and covered in sweat. Having taken a few minutes to get his head straight, and to get some balance to his shaky legs, the man strode back downstairs to the inn lobby, and resumed his search again, again to no success. Realizing that he wasn't likely to find them so easily, he took to checking around for anyone in need of some muscle or just general assistance. Not very many needed him, today, and he did little more than entertain a few children while their parents conducted their own affairs.
