Sorry to gripe, but...

I have to point something out that I've noticed, and I know its going to get blasted. My intentions are not to say someone is in the wrong, or right, however. My intentions are to point out this occurrance, and perhaps everyone can make an effort to prevent it happening, or at least, in the way it does.

The problem is, quite simply, nitpicking.

Examples.

Group of people head to particular area.
Person elsewhere, uninvolved in the current rp: Dont go there!
Group leader: We're not going there.
Person elsewhere: Yeah but you cant go there!
Group leader: ..We're not going there.
Person elsewhere, getting irritated: Yeah but, dont go there!
Group leader: ..We are not going there, but now we're not even going to bother RPing cause of the trouble not going there is causing.

Person1: Dont do that, its not allowed.
Person2: This is Actually what I'm doing, this is why, this is how I'm doing it.
Person1: Oh, okay well thats cool but, dont do This cause it wouldnt be allowed.
Person2: I'm not doing that.
Person1: Okay, well dont do it.
Person2: ..I'm not doing it....
Person1: Kay, well just telling you, dont do it.
Person2: I'm....not doing it...

Group1 RPing: Grah, we are teh RPing!
Person watching: Dont do that, people might see.
Group1: Uh, we are RPing, the idea is for people to see...
Person watching: Okay well dont do it..
Group1: There's nothing saying we cant RP like this, its not offensive at all, so, we are RPing like this.
Person watching: Okay well, dont.
Group1: ...We are RPing, thats what the server is for.
Person watching: Dont.
Group1: wtf?
Person watching: Just dont.
Group 1 leaves, after being told on an RP server, not to RP.

Now, in each example, I realise that usually good intentions are being meant. You know, people are just Trying to say Hey, we dont want you in trouble. However the way its coming across, the way several of us have noticed, is honestly that everyone is getting in on each others business in an OOC manner, rather rudely at times, and preventing people from Roleplaying.

I've honestly had quite enough of people telling me that Stealth isnt invisibility, and that my character can be seen, therefore shouldnt be stealthing.

I'll say this, on a personal note. I know how to Roleplay, if you actually spend some time roleplaying with my characters (I do have more then one), you'll find that I actually am not too bad at it. Also, my introduction and the profile for my character is up on the forums. You can actually go to the characters profile and see why she 'sneaks' and 'slinks' etc. I am very aware that stealth doesnt make my character invisible, this is why when I emote, which I do ALOT to show people she Is there.. the emotes go something like..

Dina slinks close to the ground, keeping to the shadows against the walls as she works her way silently around the room.

Now, I have tried to crouch while unstealthed, I couldnt figure it out. Not to mention, stealthing makes the character a little more 'in tune' with the emote I'm pasting. When she 'settles down on the floor/chair' I unstealth her, making her obviously visible.

Where is the problem here? I've had alot of people say they love the character, that she's fun/interesting to RP with, and actually involve themselves with 'Little mouse'.

I'm rambling, however my entire point is.. The nitpicking, its really off-putting. Maybe if your going to point something out such as my character stealthing Not being like Invis.. whisper privately "Hey, just checking but you know that your char can be seen stealthing, right?" You'll get a very quick "Yeah thanks, the reason I do it is because.............." Instead of the latest /chat Dude your stealthing thats not allowed unless your in a tree. /9 .....................logging.

I also want to briefly point out, this isnt something that is only happening to me. I'm not (only) irritated because people pick at Dina stealthing. I've watched over the last week many people get picked at so much they give up on an RP completely, for no reason Other then to shut those up who are having a go about something or other that really isnt necessary to pick about.

Make sense?

Simple task uphold.

I'll have to agree with Centi on the nit-picking. I'm all for following the rules, but being reminded so many times by people who have little to no authority, and sometimes even commit the same infractions, gets really annoying. I can understand reminding people... But... it's sort of ridiculous. Most of the chat stuff is fine, I don't mind having my channels Barrens-free. But intelligent off-topic discussion should not be confined to BARRENS. Then I feel like an idiot, and belittled.

Really... I suppose I'm just a bit peeved at how up-tight people are acting. I realize that some of it is needed. But at least treat everybody with respect and as if they have coherent thought and knowledge of the rules first before you inform them.

On both sides of the argument, please, please, PLEASE take screen shots if things get out of hand, the GMs really can't do much otherwise.

That said, I can't help much with the generalized examples other than to say if you are going to remind someone of the rules, it's only necessary once. RP styles are not policed here, with the exception of ERP in public channels and ignoring guards. If you warn someone about either of these (once!) and they ignore the warning, screen shot it and leave it alone. It is not your job to enforce the rules. Watching out for other players by giving them a heads-up on policies is one thing, harassing them is another, and will get YOU in trouble.

Sorry to sound so growly, I'm not fond of any situation that involves disrespect or killing the RP "mood".

I'll add on to say that if someone acts in a manner you believe is inappropriate, player or GM, to actually report it. There's been quite a few instances where people will simply let it eat at them, and/or start telling others about how someone acted wrongly, despite not even bothering to try and correct it by way of a GM. If it was a GM themself that someone believed to have acted inappropriately, I've noticed that typically people will simply talk about their discontentment/resentment with their friends without trying to bring it to the attention of Grakor or myself.

There's no way that we can deal with people (or GMs) unless such actions are brought to our attention. This isn't directed to the OPer, I'm just stating it in a general sense.
