FF26 - Introduction
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
I like to think I am a considerate person. I rarely, if ever, get drawn into troll or flame wars and I refuse to start them. If I have something useful to add to a conversation I will state my point as best as I can; but I am also mature enough to know when someone else is correct and can back their point of view up with legitimate facts.

I RP for the feeling of being immersed in my surroundings and making decisions that my character would need. I keep IC and OOC separated 99% of the time and have actually put my previous characters at risk of being perma killed ICly even though I know better OOCly.

I have a one character only policy; meaning I pick a class/race combination (sometimes completely at random) and research it, learn the race and class's lore and dedicate all my time to that character until they retire or find themselves on the wrong end of a sword. I've killed my characters off before, much to everyone's surprise, as long as it makes sense ICly.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
Canada! Born and raised on the West Coast on Vancouver Island. English, with all the "ours" that us Canadians favOUR.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
I was playing through Baldur's Gate 2 for the third or fourth time when WoW first came out. Got hooked in vanilla and was one of those hard core raiders on a non-RP server. Always felt like I missing so much of the game's depth in my day to day grind for gear and stats. Then I found role playing and I've never looked back!

What made you seek our server over others? (Or how did you find us?):
I have always believed that Blizzard needs to consolidate RPers onto a fewer number of servers, not because RP is dying, but because the dedicated RP servers are so diluted. My laptop was stolen from my car one weekend and my desktop at the time (pre-intel Mac G5) was no longer supported by Cata. I went in search of another form of RP.

Through google, I stumbled into another Private RP server just as they were launching. The prospect of a server made up of 100% RPers was very appealing to me. It seemed like it was everything I wanted and I enjoyed my time there. Sadly, it has been in a steady decline and while I feel guilty for jumping ship, I can't see myself "waiting around" until the next phase is released. So, I went searching and here I am!

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
Player interaction of any kind! ERP isn't my thing though I understand it and even respect it as a form of legitimate RP if done properly (Such as IC relationships, etc).

I am not one for OOC drama, in fact, I usually disable all OOC channels and treat them like /trade on retail. I prefer to keep everything IC and win/loose based on my actions and the actions of others.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
I wouldn't say so much that I have a favourite race or class, but the CHARACTER that was my all time favourite to play was Vasilia (Cenarion Circle - US) - who was a Draenei Disc Priest; I actually picked her race and class completely by random and invented a lot of her lasting character traits completely on the fly.

Every expansion pack in retail I have killed or retired my RP main and rolled another; so I have RPed everything from a Gnome Warrior who hated being forced to live in Ironforge to a dishonored Orc Rogue who was attempting to un-tarnish his name.

Oh, and I refuse to roll a DK... it's a long story!

What are your expectations of this server?:
I don't have any expectations. I do HOPE, however, to find a welcoming community that puts RP before OOC drama. I can RP pretty much anywhere with anyone, but I always appreciate a challenge in my RP, be it a new character, class, race or raising my personal RP standards to meet the community.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
Requirements for respect, and the fact that there isn't an open door policy that hopefully limits Griefers and Gankers; though I honestly expect to find some no matter where I go.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
Vasilia sat at her desk looking over the parcel delivery form she had finished filling out. She looked over at the old grandfather style clock in the corner of the AAMS office as it started to chime. She smiled to herself, knowing it was finally the end of the day.

As she put the last form in her outbox the door opened and in walked Rillik with a grim look on his face. She knew something was amiss and as she quickly glanced around the office seeing she was the only one still there, she realized that whatever problem Rillik had would soon be hers.

"Ms. Starfallen, do you have a moment?" asked Rillik.

"Of course Rillik," replied Vasilia, "Just finishing up the outbound orders for the day."

Rillik nodded, "We have a problem Ms. Starfallen. The shipment we sent out last, the one-hundred exploding sheep," he said, nodding, "has run into some problems clearing customs in Booty Bay."

Vasilia sighed as she sat down. She knew that shipment was going to be an issue. The AAMS, or Anytime Anywhere Messenger Service, had been shipping packages back and forth between the Alliance and Horde for a decade, but nothing as large as one hundred exploding sheep.

"What rules are the Goblin's claiming we violated this time, and how much is it going to cost to have them look the other way?" said Vasilia, rubbing the temples of her forehead.

"You know those Goblins to well Ma'am," commented Rillik, "they claim we have violated... oh geeze, let me check," added Rillik as he pulled a notebook and flipped through it. "We have violated article 17, subsection 9 regarding the transportation of explosive livestock between factions." he said, nodding.

"I see." replied Vasilia, thinking a moment. "I am going assume that they don't actually have a rule regarding, what did they call it? Exploding Livestock?"

"No Ma'am," replied Rillik, "not that we could find anywhere when we dropped off the order Ma'am."

Vasilia pulled out a clean sheet of paper from her desk and wrote a few lines down before handing it to Rillik. "Take this to the harbour master in Booty Bay, along with a case of Brandy from the storeroom. No, make that three cases, it was a rather unique order. That should be enough for him to look the other way."

"Yes Ma'am, right away." said Rillik, turning on his heels and quick stepping out of the office and down the street towards the storeroom.

Vasilia shook her head, alone again in the AAMS office. "I still don't know why she needed to ship one hundred exploding sheep from Stormwind to Orgrimmar. Nothing good will come out of this, I can guarantee it." comment Vasilia to herself, almost half expecting someone to answer her.

She flipped the OPEN sign to CLOSE, locked the door and started down the familiar path towards home.

------------------------

Vasilia was my retail main in Cata, who was a supervisor in the AAMS on Cenarion Circle - US. The AAMS is a neutral guild that delivers ingame letters and items through the neutral AH between the horde and alliance. It is actually two guilds that operation together: AAMS (Horde side) and the AAMS Alliance Branch (alliance side). We were actually contracted, ICly, to deliver 100 exploding sheep to a horde guild from an alliance guild as a prank.

Here's the link to the thread about it on the Blizzard forums.

Is there anything else
Not that I can think of. Maybe a clarification on the death rules? What I have been able to find wasn't really as clear as I would have liked.

Welcome to Conquest of the Horde!

If you haven't already, please make sure to check out our Rules, Policies, FAQs, and Wiki. We also have an area dedicated to guides to help with things from races to classes and everything in between!

To answer your questions...

OOC deaths do not equal IC deaths here. So, if you wanted to go run off and level or doing raids in your free time, it won't kill you off. (I assume you were from Prologue where if you died, you died.) Now, if your character dies in character, you have to wait a week before they can be resurrected. When you do that, you most post a resurrection threadin this forum. It must contain drawbacks your character will face after coming back from the dead. Those can be physical, mental, emotional...Whatever.

Be sure to /join chat when you get in game!

Indeed I am a prologue transfer-ee. I suspect there have probably been a few of us flood over since Nov. 15. Anyway, my time to enjoy ingame is limited this month and most of december due to a difficult work schedule, but I will try to get on and give things a try.

Just to clarify, we start at level 1 and work our way up to level 50. Once we get to 50 we can't progress any further until we have posted and received an approval on a character profile. Once that is approved, you can now level to 80 and/or upgrade your character from peon to grunt by gaining gruntship, which also insta level's that character to 80, etc.

I guess my question is: Is getting to level 50 is a requirement or could one roll a level 1 character, post and get a profile approved and then become a grunt and get the insta 80, going from 1-80 without the grind? Hypothetically of course! The issue I have always had with instant leveling is that unless it is a class I have played before it is a bit overwhelming to be smacked with all of a characters level 80 abilities at once. I find it more effective to learn the class mechanics, both for PvE, PvP and of course RP, by spending some time learning as as the character levels.

For example, I can spend a week reading about how to RP a Shaman, but until I can actually get into the game and get a feel for the character I am uncomfortable RPing one; and getting slammed by having to learn all their abilities at once doesn't help me get a feel for what a Shaman is and how my character reacts to being one, etc.

So, I prefer to RP and level at the same time. That being said, there are some classes that I consider myself very experienced in, both RP and mechanic wise; and while I would enjoy re-leveling one if I needed to, and decided to roll one, I was just wondering if there where alternatives.

You don't need to level, at all. You can just RP at level 1. Class OOC mechanics is purely optional; there isn't a necessity for PvP or PvE. Battles proceed through mutual understanding and agreement as to whether it be a duel, text fight, roll fight or DMed by a third party.

Yes, once the profile is approved, it will be leveled from whatever it was to 80 directly.

You can also type .GM ingame to procure a list of online GMs and just whisper any of the online GMs with your queries. Unlike in Prologue, they are accessible here.

There are also tokens that you can purchase for a few hundred gold that levels you to 50.
