The Varlet Sapphire is now recruiting! We are a newly formed Thieves Guild on the server and are anxious to get the ball rolling for the criminal element here is severely lacking, distasteful really. Below is a list of our services and how we operate.

Before reading, I wanted to make it abundantly clear that all actions regarding other players (robbery, assassinations, etc.) requires the consent of BOTH parties, which we are aware of and will ALWAYS heed when role-playing. This being said, let us continue:

Services Provided- Information, Goods, Loans, Assassinations, Special Requests.
Information
-Eavesdropping: loitering in popular areas where people/organizations of interest are known to be.
-Intimidation: threaten/beat information out of an informant.
-Infiltration: gain access into a guild/organization, earn their trust, provide information and or sabotage.
Goods
-Pickpocketing: relieve a fellow of his personal belongings that are on him/her.
-Burglary: break into restricted areas and retrieve specific items.
-Sweep: similar to Burglary, with the exception of more than one item.
-Heist: a pre-meditated, organized, plan to retrieve rare/valuable item(s) or person(s).
-Robbery: hold-up, public and confrontational method of retrieving goods. (Usually to send a message.)
Loans
-Loan X amount of Coin for X amount to be paid in X amount of time, X amount of interest depending on Coin/Client/Time.
Ex: Loan Mary 20g for 1 week interest rate 10%. (based off of client, time, and amount borrowed)
By end of week Mary owes The Varlet’s 22g.
Failure to pay loan will result in very intensive procurement methods, The Varlet Sapphire is not to be taken lightly.
Assassinations
-Assassination contracts are rather tricky due to the nature of them, however, The Varlet does accept these contracts. Note: it is rare and usually requires special circumstances with consent from both parties.
-Can only be assigned by an Upright Man.
Special Requests
-These are specific and detailed requests made by the client, they generally tend to be very unique and have a high payout. Almost all requests will be considered.
-Can only be assigned by an Upright Man.
Ranks - The roles and duties of the members of the Varlet.
Footpad - Newbie
-The Footpad’s responsibilities are simple: Do as your told without hesitation.
Gilt - Novice
-Do as your told.
-Don’t give the Varlets a bad name.
-Complete Jobs: Eavesdropping, Pickpocketing.
-Make money.
Cannon - Intermediate
-Complete Jobs: Eavesdropping, Pickpocketing, Burglary.
-Make money.
-Begin making a name for yourself.
Gentleman - Successful
-Complete Jobs: Eavesdropping, Intimidation, Pickpocketing, Burglary, Sweep,
-Make money.
-Help out newer members.
-Begin taking on tougher contracts.
-Increase reputation of the Varlets.
Rounder - Professional
-Complete Jobs: Eavesdropping, Intimidation, Infiltration, Pickpocketing, Burglary, Sweep, Heist, Robbery.
-Make money.
-Collect loans.
-Take on the hardest contracts.
-Begin finding more talent to add to the Varlets.
Old Hand - Inner Circle
-Assign Jobs.
-Train Footpads/Gilts.
-Recruit.
-Accompany/Assist Varlets on Jobs.
-Issue/Manage Loans.
-Assign Jobs. (minus Infiltration)
Upright Man - Leader
-Handle all information brought in through Eavesdropping, Intimidation, and Infiltration.
-Oversee Old Hands.
-Take and distribute Jobs to Old Hands.
-Issue Special Requests.
-Order Assassinations.
-Issue Infiltration Jobs.
-Form Alliances/Create Enemies.
-Handle Discipline.
-Manage The Varlet Sapphire. (This includes basically everything.)
The Honor Among Thieves - Is the Code of Conduct that we miscreants live by.
-It is an unspoken code that is understood by all Varlets.
-Basic understanding of this code is a determining factor during missions involving other members of the Varlet or associates.
-Violation of this Honor will result in severe penalty.
The Thieves Cant- Slang used to communicate in public.
-This will be revealed if we believe you are legit.
Recruitment - Riddles, Scenarios, Cant, and Aptitude Test.
The Varlet Sapphire is a organization of professionals, we’re the big leagues, not some rag-tag group of ruffians ran out of a shack on some farmland. Because of this, we have high standards which means we have very thorough methods when choosing our members. All potential recruits will be interviewed IC.
Riddles
-Used to evaluate the Thief’s deductive reasoning skills and intelligence.
Scenarios
-We will provide a number of Rp scenarios that will test the Thief’s ability to adapt and overcome a difficult situation.
-This is the most important part of the testing, for it shows us how one reacts in an extreme environment, giving us an idea of what to expect when the real thing goes down.
-Also shows the uniqueness and ingenuity within each Thief, the more diverse the solution, the more impressed we are.
Cant
-The Thieves Cant is a slang used to communicate, general knowledge on this will be tested while being interviewed.
-Note: This is not a determining factor in a negative way. Consider it like extra credit to boost your overall score.
Ex: If you aren’t so good at riddles, but believe this is the place for you; take some initiative and learn some Cant to use in your IC interview, this will show dedication and true interest to The Varlet Sapphire.
Aptitude Test
-A combination of Riddles, Scenarios, and The Thieves Cant, along with several questions about overall thievery and The Honor Among Thieves. Each test is unique to the Thief.
As previously stated, this is a group of professionals. We expect quality and intelligent role-players within our ranks, some may believe this is too organized for a ‘Thieves Guild’, but it is those same players who create dead-end Defias Brotherhood Guilds.
