A Dance of Death
#1
Spoiler:

A Memoir of Carigus Tenner

Upon the streets a man in black took flight,
The sun had died, the moon was high
His steps were soft and quiet as night
Only seen by starry skies.

A masquerade ball was soon to begin,
He was to enter at another's behest.
With a persuasive tongue she let him in,
Her heart fluttering beneath her breast.

A smile crept across his hardened face,
Her magnificence evident in every breath.
He stood by for moments, savouring her grace
Knowing she'd dance the dance of death.

At her word the doors swung wide,
The beauty taken under his wing,
Unaware whom she let inside
She took him to where the violins sing.

They indulged in song and wine,
Laughed 'til they could no more.
When she smiled her eyes would shine,
Envied by treasures of yore.

Abruptly he stood, offering his hand.
Succumbed his charm, she gave consent.
He gave her a kiss, the lover's brand
The moment that marked her dark descent.

With a slender finger she beckoned,
Removing his jacket as he entered the room.
Not knowing the event was reckoned,
Her final cry announced her doom.

He laid her corpse across the bed,
Closed her eyes and cleaned his blade.
A final kiss was planted on her head,
Mocking the trust he had betrayed.

The song remains with Kargus Withers
Who sings from time to time with endless breath.
Be cautious if he requests you come hither,
Lest you dance the dance of death.

Spoiler:
This is the first time I've ever written a poem. Ever. Feedback would be appreciated. :>
"I am more afraid of one hundred sheep led by a lion than one hundred lions led by a sheep."

. . . Hot damn, Hawk. Your first poem and it's about a Harvest character? How could I not love it? :D
