The Frostbrand Expedition

THE FROSTBRAND EXPEDITION

Background

The world after the death of the Lich King is a place tearing at the seams. Resources dwindle. Tension between factions rise. Yet even with Azeroth balancing upon a tight-rope, some people do not let such trivialities stop them from shooting for the sky with their hopes and aspirations. Perhaps they want to commit to heroic deeds and snatch glory and honor from the jaws of defeat. They wish to pull their weight and see peace brought to a dangerous land. Some may even be soldiers of fortune who do not pretty their intentions with purple prose, finding themselves in need of a war to fight where there is none. People like crew of the Frostbrand Expedition.

The Frostbrand Expedition is a shotgun union of two groups created for the express purpose of operating the Frostbrand. The Ninth Legion, under the leadership of Clovis Briarthorn, has been formed with the funding of a 'sympathetic' Alliance Loyalist from Dalaran. The Mak’gora Vanguard, a Horde group formed under similiar circumstances with the funding of a recently successful Blood Elf magi, is under the leadership of Moriok Forepicker.

Though both organizations have loyalties to their respective factions, they have set aside their differences (mostly) for their role in insuring the success of the Frostbrand, a Post-Northrend era Airship that has seen intense combat under different names and different crews before, and is now set to reap what these two groups can sow.

With the Frostbrand refurbished, armed, and ready, the sky is the literal limit for this crew. There is no edge of Azeroth they cannot visit. No distance they cannot travel. The Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Northrend, maybe even Outland. Where the Frostbrand flies, it's crew of either faction will bring justice and reap glory.

Take to the skies, Airmen.

The Frostbrand

Though separated by race and allegiances, both groups are united by a common weapon: An airship.

The airship is a large de-commissioned Third War battleship refurbished and re-equipped to serve the expeditionary forces. The Dalaran officials that fund the two organizations arranged for the ship to be recovered from its crash site and brought back to operating capacity. It is currently outfitted with a reinforced hull and multiple deck and side cannons.

After its recovery and restoration the ship was christened Frostbrand in honor of its services against the Lich King and Scourge forces. Deciding that it would serve a better purpose as a military vessel, the Dalaran officials passed it and the resources to maintain it over to two military officials: Paladin Clovis Briarthorn and Warbringer Moriok Forepicker.

A kitchen, a full armory and dormitory have all been provided for the sizeable crew to man the multi-leveled ship. To allow for easy transition into and out of the ship Dalaran mages have erected a portal for teleportation off the ship when needed by crew and captains.

The in-character Frostbrand uses The Skybreaker model. It should not be considered, however, as a refurbished Skybreaker.

To reach the ship Out-Of-Character use the OOC Portal in the Out-Of-Character Cavern. The ship is located on Airship(Casino) underneath the RP Location tab.

Rules

Violation of Out of Character rules is taken very seriously. Each violation is dealt with on a case-by-case basis, with punishments ranging from a verbal warning to ejection from the guild and information turned over to the GM team.

Out-Of-Character Rules
Spoiler:
  • Respect all of CotH’s Server Rules.
  • Do not verbally assault, threaten or attempt to intimidate a player, regardless of whether they are in the guild or not, while out of character.
  • Always give clear Character Warnings that detail your intentions. Character Warnings should be given in the event of killing, maiming, injuring, kidnapping, torture or for any other action that can be deemed either unsavory or limiting to another player’s character.
  • If you are going to be absent for over a month send notice to a guild master.
  • Keep Guild Chat for discussions about the guild or role-play on the Frostbrand.

Below are the in-character rules. Because of the duel nature of this guild, the rules are broken into three sections: Rules for the Alliance, Rules for the Horde and Rules for the Ship.

Ship Rules
Spoiler:
  • All crew members must respect the commands of the highest ranking crew-man in an emergency situation regardless of faction.
  • All members must respect the command of either captain, regardless of their race or affiliation.
  • Do not harm, kill or steal from fellow crewmembers.
  • Civilians cannot take part in combat missions.
  • Damaging the ship carries penalties. Punishment will be determined based on the severity by the captains.
  • Traitorous activities such as sabotage, leaking information or mutiny are severely punished.
  • Neutral crew members are not to interefere with or compromise the security of faction specific meetings and missions unless given the ok by the group leader.
  • Desertion during non-combat is punishable by one month in the brig. Desertion during combat will result in the offender being expelled from the ship with no supplies, regardless of present location.

Punishments for disobeying Ship rules range from minor (Pay Docking), moderate (Imprisonment) and extreme (Removal or Death).

Alliance Rules
Spoiler:
  • Handle all disagreements with patience and respect. Request mediation from Medic, Officer, or Captain if needed.
  • The Captain is the final say in all matters within the Ninth Legion
  • Spoils of War may be granted to soldiers who go above and beyond the call of duty if the Captain allows it
  • Attempting to 'hide' a valuable collected from a mission for personal use is on par with stealing from the ship as a whole.
  • Hostile forces that do not surrender are to be neutralized with cold efficiency and lack of emotion. Foes who surrender are apprehended. Treatment is harsh, but merciful.
  • Remain professional and civil with our Horde aligned ship-mates, but do not grow fond.
  • Fight to the death to protect an innocent, friend, or fellow Legionnaire.
  • There is no dishonor in retreat from a pointless battle.

Punishments for disobeying Alliance rules range from minor (Latrine Duty), moderate (Confinement in Brig) and extreme (Expulsion/Arrest/Execution).

Horde Rules
Spoiler:
  • All members of the Mak’gora Vanguard must obey the commands of Warbringer Forepicker.
  • Do not fight, steal from or kill a fellow Mak’gora member.
  • Disagreements that cannot be resolved between members of the Mak’gora Vanguard will be resolved via a duel. The duel is between the two parties. The loser is the one who can no longer fight. No death involved.
  • If an enemy surrenders, subdue them and detain them.
  • The spoils go to the one who claims them.
  • Do not run from a fight unless it is to regroup for an immediate counter-attack.
  • Remain professional and civil with our Alliance aligned ship-mates, but do not grow fond.
  • Do not surrender.

Punishments for disobeying Horde rules range from minor (Pay Docking), moderate (Public beating) and extreme (Removal or Death).

Enlistment

Still interested, after reading everything above? Good!

For prospective members, there are some restrictions to the type of characters we allow on the ship. Some of these restrictions are In-Character, others Out-Of-Character. Below are the current restrictions, divided between Alliance and Horde.

Alliance Race & Class Restrictions:

Spoiler:
Warlocks: Warlocks with approval and under supervision of either the Alliance, Horde, Dalaran, or Argent Crusade are eligible for membership. Unaffiliated or under supervision of any non-listed faction are not eligible for membership. Warlocks may not summon demons on ship. Warlocks may not conduct any experiments or rituals without approval from Captain Briarthorn.

Death Knights: Death Knights with the approval and supervision of Alliance, Horde, or Ebon Blade are eligible for membership. Rogue Death Knights are Kill on Sight.

Shadow Priests: Priests of the Forgotten Shadow are banned from from the Alliance side of The Frostbrand.

Criminal History: Any aspirant with a criminal record is dealt with on a case by case basis by Captain Briarthorn.

Freelancers: Freelancers may be accepted into Alliance side ranks if approved by Captain Briarthorn. They are still subject to the same class restrictions as above. A Freelancers race does not affect their eligibility to work as an Alliance aligned Frostbrand soldier - even some Horde races qualify.

Horde Race & Class Restrictions:

Spoiler:
Forsaken & Blood Elves: While not outright prohibited from joining, non-Old Horde races will be under intense scrutiny from Officers and Captain Forepicker. Without the past history of service and loyalty that marked other Horde races, Forsaken and Blood Elves are expected to prove their worth and capability to advance within the organization.

Warlocks: Warlocks are allowed so long as they submit to close observation and periodic searches. Any warlock who practices unlawful activities or, through his or her work, harms the crewmembers will be punished severely.

Death Knights: Death Knights with the approval and supervision of Alliance, Horde, or Ebon Blade are eligible for membership. Rogue Death Knights are Kill on Sight.

Shadow Priests: Priests of the Forgotten Shadow are allowed.

Criminal History: Any aspirant with a criminal record are expected to admit their past deeds. They will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by Moriok.

Freelancers: Freelancers may be accepted into Horde side ranks if approved by Captain Forepicker. They are still subject to the same class restrictions as above. A Freelancers race does not affect their eligibility to work as an Horde aligned Frostbrand soldier - even some Alliance races qualify.

Joining the guild Out-Of-Character is as simple as whispering either Clovis or Moriok when you see them in-game. Alternatively, you can message a member of the guild for the name of players who have recruitment power and are online.

Joining the guild In-Character will require your character to hear about the guild and then travel to the ship for recruitment.

There are numerous ways for your character to have learned about the ship. Guild posts have been placed in faction cities for the Mok’gar Vanguard and the 9th Legion. Beyond posters, a character could have heard about its exploits through gossip, have a friend who is a current member tell them about it or simply have seen a poster calling for able-bodied soldiers.

Once informed about the guild your character will be directed to a recruiting station. At the recruiting station the character will be teleported to the ship where they will then be directed to speak with a captain.

The Captain will conduct an interview with the prospective member and give them a copy of the rules. The new member will be given a tour and helped to adjust to ship life.

Just A Quick Update! The Horde event, 'Blackout,' has been moved from Friday at 5:30 pm server time to Saturday at 5:00 pm Server Time. Sorry for the switch up, but work ran in.

The event, while not spoiling anything, has a plot drawn heavily from a popular movie with some good ol' fashioned Alcohol Induced Stupidity. Hope to see you guys there!

Thank you again for everyone who attended my event this evening! Despite the lateness, I'm glad so many people enjoyed it.

Announcement: On Monday, May 28 at 2:30 pm Server Time we will officially be opening up the Frostbrand Ship.

The event is open for all, Guild and Non-Guild members alike. A portal will be opened in Dalaran to allow access to the ship. A speech and recruitment drive will be held on the vessel by the Captains, as well as a tour of the facilities. Food and games will be provided as well.

EDIT: Corrected the date.
