Onyxia was actually made just for ambiance, though the flappiness worked out to hopefully encourage people to go and RP. As far as people not responding to RP requests in channels, that seems to have been like that for a while. I don't know why it happens; I actually inquired with a few folks before as to why they don't respond, and several of them mentioned they simply weren't paying attention, or that they were more focused on trying to focus on the RP they were in.
Someone else made a comment in the past about how you ask for RP can affect your success as well. For example, if you simply ask "Any RP?", you may be met with less success than if you were more specific, such as "Any RP for an orc shaman? Prefer Kalimdor areas but can go to Northrend/Outland" or something similar. In other words, I believe it was put that you have to interest people in RPing with your character(s). Hopefully someone will find and link that post/thread!

I don't always ask "Any RP?", but when I do I always add "If not <character list> can be <places> doing <list>". I think most of the RP, as far as I've seen (events anyway) are during america's time. However sometimes if I don't have RP ideas I play some games, watch movies and borrow their stuff if it's possible to do it in the WoW universe. Drakus I'd say is the best of my characters because he can be a story teller, a tavern-games guy, adventure or just fish with someone (even if he isn't good at it). Chad can annoy the characters but apparantly it brings most people OOCly joy to see the ol' guy.

I've been doodling on my blackboard some RP ideas/chain of RP to do where anyone can join in. Though it's a widdle hard thinking of something most people would be able to join without making it 'big'.

I've had success lately with Kretol's method he mentioned. When I go in and say "Would anyone like to RP?" I get met with nothing, when I say "would anyone like to RP with a grave digging night elf? Any location is fine, and I have other characters too" I often get whispers, actually.

I -think- that rolling a couple elves has also improved my chances, but I know that's not for everyone either.

From what I have discovered this evening is that it's apparantly easier to get RP if you're in a guild and/or known/liked. I just got RP within 3 minutes after a guildie logged on and when friends are on 9/10 times we RP (the other 1/10 is because one of us can't be on for long).

I am the kind of person who will RP with just about anyone and everyone; it doesn't matter if I know you or not or if you're new or not, if you wanna RP, we'll RP. If I'm logged in for any other reason besides RP, it's either to decorate or research an area for an event, to draw a character based on its model, or just see what everyone is up to in the server (in that case, I'm there for only 10 minutes). But if I'm there for a long time, it's usually to RP--I have Skype if I just want to chat.

But for me, the difficulty in finding RP is simply scheduling--I live in the Server's actual Server Time (GMT -7, I think), but uninterrupted freetime is usually not available until 10 PM... meaning a majority of the Server is either just waking up (but not staying) or going to bed. I have to pull teeth in order to find daytime RP, usually by sacrificing something just to get a computer.
