This bothers me
(09-23-2013, 03:55 PM)Kage Wrote: At this point I don't think its "Stop playing x race! We need race rp too!" but more of "Stop rping in places no one else can join all the time! You're the only rp on!" Which happens a lot. A lot a lot. Part of the reasons some people have poofed from the server. As one of those people that find it hard to rp these days it kinda sucks to see four or five people in a closed rp and you're the only one not in it.

Everyone is entitled to rp as they want, with who they want, and how they want. But it doesn't change how much it just stinks to be alone now and then.

Can't really expect people to just... open up every time though. I mean, I get it... it stinks, but it doesn't mean we always have to open up just because other people demand it. Sad that the server population is low... but, that doesn't mean we should drop everything because someone wants us to RP something else, or open up despite it not being something we want to open up to everyone.

I'm not asking people to open up every time. Just be.. Open. In general. Instead of always closed. Be more open then closed I suppose is what I'm trying to say. Private rp is good and all (I don't agree with some of the reasons behind it, but there are cases where it makes sense) but it can't be all the time. It'll kill the server.

But... if people want it closed... they want it closed. I mean, forcing people to always have open RP, or complaining about it is kinda crappy in itself. Often it's because we are in a private location, or in a place where it doesn't make sense for people to suddenly "be", or if we have an event going on that we don't want a billion people in on.

I had someone try to chew me out for doing something private BRIEFLY in Booty Bay. They argued Booty Bay was an open place, and doing something private didn't make sense. We were the only people there, noone asked us to join in, and suddenly the person emoted seeing us without getting a sense of what was going on. Yes, we were in public---however, we were there only briefly to set up our own little event.

Other times, we are doing something that involves us on our boat, or in our estate... and other times we are in Goldshire, trying to open up to the community. Saying we are "Killing the server" is pretty silly, because honestly there's way more to it than that. We might not be welcoming to everyone, but killing the server is quite the drastic leap to go with.

Its not that I'm saying keep it always open. But more often then not its always closed. More and more I find myself coming on to find closed rp being the only thing going on. I'm not trying to say its a bad thing. But too much of it is.

I can understand the whole 'closed RP' thing from both perspectives because I do both.. I sometimes just get into closed RP(sometimes unintentionally!) and it just wouldn't make sense for anyone else to join in. And sometimes I do feel bad for saying "sorry, this is private" but the situation just calls for it. But I'll never agree with someone getting berated and yelled at for having private RP nor do I think people should try and harass others into being more 'open'.

Another thing is that sometimes 'private' RP will be limited to just a few people for a few reasons, like Rensin's(I'm not using your new name, eff you) for events or a reason for myself is that I get really messed up when there's -tons- of people around. Too many makes me leave RP because I can't keep up, get overwhelmed and then end up getting depressed at my own 'inability' to focus and just lose interest in RP. /is a moody bish, apparently

I just wanna give my opinions and stuff, man. ;-;

The mere fact that "Closed" roleplay exists is a paradox to me~!
Wow. Sometimes I forget the past.

We've never done so in a place that has a bunch of people in it. We've also gone from private RP to opening it up to people in the areas near where we left when done, when it makes sense.

Just, sometimes it's mandatory.

I think even an orc would have trouble punting the gnome, He might be able to knock it over with his foot, but punting it? That would be painful for the gnome and the orc.

I wonder how many people would let me watch their closed RP. I'd love to see what's up in those closed group RPs and see how fun they are...

I've seen Kretol punt a Tauren from the Shatterspear area, to the Night Elf starter zone.

That's just a story single mothers use to put their children to sleep. Everyone knows Kretol isn't real, he's imaginary like Santa Claus or Leprechauns or Mecha Streisand.
