A new introduction
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
I am a casual player, taking my time with exploring the game. While I have seen the end game content in the retail version, it is never my goal to actually reach it. I play the game for its lore and its visuals. As a freelance artist, I always found the style of WoW rather inspiring, paying more attention to the graphic detail rather than how high my DPS is supposed to be.
PvP was never my thing. My priority line up was mostly RP > PvE > PvP with PvP far down below in that list. It is one of the reasons I am also not very big on solely combat RP (every day spar and training for hours in a row, for an example), preferring story and character development more.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I was born and raised in Holland, my primary language being of the dutch kind. I have lived in Sweden for a few years, learned its language there and now reside in the UK since several months.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
My Swedish ex got me into the game. He was a raider at the time and I was curious about what exactly had him hooked nearly each evening and especially the weekends. I bought the game a few months before the Burning Crusade came out, played it together with him and I was sold. It has been my prime game since then.

How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?:
Role Play specific private server; that is what got me here. While looking for such a private server on Google, I eventually found this site. After two days of trying to register, the register page finally worked and here I am.
I have had my fair share of role play on the retail servers, but as my subscription ran out I looked back at the last year I spent on the retail servers. It wasn't a great year, the role play had been poor. While I am not the greatest role player out there, I did notice a drop in quality. Too much OOC drama which began to seep into the role play, no actual storylines being put up unless you were in an active guild, no random encounters (outside guilds) which also left a good impression. I paid a monthly subscription for... well... disappointment.
So I decided to give a private server a try and that is how I ended up here.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
I enjoy story development. While World of Warcraft's main element is war between the Horde and the Alliance (and other forces), I am not the biggest fan of combat role play. I know it is a must from time to time; one has to be able to defend themselves in such a world, but I don't wish my every day of role play to be swinging an axe, a frostbolt or a fist every minute just to have my character prove themselves for their high ranking officer. There is so much more than that.
I want interaction, I want to get to know other people's character to a more deeper level than just their outside appearance, I want to explore the lore and the scenery. I like both dark and light themed settings, be it Human priests serving the Cathedral or Forsaken warlocks plotting to destroy the living. Anything with intrigue gets my attention.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
I enjoy pet classes, which would make hunters and warlocks my favorite. I am the long ranged kind of player, preferring to keep a distance between me and my opponent. Aside from pet classes, I am also a sucker for healing classes; priests and druids get my favor in this. I am a motherly person. I wish to help where I can and healing in-game is a nice way to express it and also feed that 'motherly' urge.
If I had to pick one solid class though, I would say druid.
As far race... there is no favorite. I like them all, I play them all. What I have the most of are Humans and Blood Elves.

What are your expectations of this server?:
I hope to find role play which will leave me craving for more. I have seriously been dying to find something worthwhile role play-wise, that I have nearly given up on finding it. I hope I'll find it here.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
Maturity.
It has been rather hard to find players with a mature view on things. I do not care for a player's actual age, as long as they can behave and think accordingly. I have seen so very often role play sessions getting destroyed by one mere person not being able to just let something go, having to try and push it in everybody's face, having to ruin everyone's fun because something didn't go their way. I truly support this rule (and the others as well).

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
I will post a snippet of a story I wrote a while ago about one of my WoW characters.

"It was all such a secret... so well hidden. Either I was naive or simply didn't wish to see it back then. Perhaps I was so intrigued by it that I decided to remain in ignorant bliss and wanted to become a part of it. When I found out about it, about that secret... I can still recall how fast my heart was beating within my chest. The excitement, the admiration. It felt like it was my destiny to follow his footsteps deeper into that secret he kept.

We were the kind of family who were more than they appeared to be, though I wasn't aware of such until later in my youth. My childhood was peaceful, even with the constant threat of the Scourge lingering. Every day news of another settlement which had fallen to their hunger, their plague yet life simply went on and as a child, I remained unknowing of all the dangers and what impact they had. Within my own house it was all too present, but I didn't see. I didn't know. I remained innocent in mind and heart, living with both my parents as their only child.

My mother took care of the crops and the herb garden while my father would go hunting with his friends. It had never dawned to me that he hardly ever returned home with a kill, be it a rabbit or a deer, until this one night where I could not sleep and he returned home late. Anxious to greet him and welcome him back home, I climbed out of my bed and rushed to the stairway, only to halt and keep myself quiet when I could pick up on the tension downstairs which began to seep up those steps before me to fill the whole house. I could hear them, though I could not form the words in the sentences spoken. What I could hear was that mother's hushed voice was filled with fright. It made the hair on the back of my neck rise, the curiosity to know burning within me.

It was then I found out who my father truly was. All I knew about him what shattered like a mirror, the shards of my past spread all over the floor and cutting deep into my skin as I found him standing there covered in grime, the red embroiled flame on the tabard he wore matching the red of the blood splatters which stained his appearance.

I had heard of them... The Knights of the Silver Hand. The Scarlet Crusade. The zealots who were so set to purge the lands of the unliving by all means necessary. They had infiltrated my home long before I found out about my father's true identity and that thought was frightening.

I remember my mother crying when they saw me standing in the doorway and found me gazing upon the red and white attire my father wore, no matter dirty by what he had been hunting earlier that day. I can still hear her wailing, her begging towards my father to send me upstairs and not speak of it again but he never did. Instead, he had grasped my arm after stepping over towards me with long strides and dragged me along into the darkness of the night, leaving a sobbing mother behind in a house which no longer seemed like the one I grew up in."

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
I still feel very new to role play, no matter having over ten years of experience through out chat rooms, forums, games and even LARP. I am shy at heart and never wish to intrude, a bad habit as it makes me hesitant to take part in already on going role plays. I do hope to find people here I can have good times with. Thank you for having me.

Quite the traveller, huh? Holland to Sweden to England? That's pretty neat! Wish I knew three languages. Tongue Very interesting story you had, there, by the way. I take it you're interested in Forsaken? Well, so am I! And I think you'll find a community with very positive attitudes towards the race as a whole. There's recently been quite a lot of Undead activity.

Once again, you are welcome to Conquest of the Horde, and I hope you enjoy your stay!

Long live open borders; it gets you to places. That you have to learn the language is just a bonus (or a horror, depending on the language).
As for the story... I fear it holds no love or passion towards the Forsaken and any other Undead, but I do enjoy the race. I am glad to hear they are thriving on this server. Would be interesting to have a peek *nods*.

Thank you for the welcome.
