Evix Vortana's Introduction
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
In a sentence, I'm a student working full-time as a dishwasher and like to spend my spare time playing computer games. I'm a little different than a lot of gamers I come across, in that I value story and immersion over mechanics and technical aspects. I haven't played a lot of games in my time, due to budgetary reasons, but I've dedicated myself to communities of the games I have played.

Most memorable include multiple clans I was a member of and led during my years playing Warcraft III dedicated to Lord of the Rings custom maps, as well as clans dedicated to zombie survival maps. I was also a member of a group known as the Imperial Ground Forces, dedicated to Star Wars: Battlefront II and Jedi Academy. I believe IGF still is the greatest community experience I've ever had the pleasure of participating in. I rose through the ranks to become a prominent and appreciated leader of a company of members and strove to inspire my fellow players and encourage activity and community growth during my couple of years there, recruiting over 100 people during my period of membership.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I reside in Vancouver, Canada. My sole language is English.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
My first computer game was Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness. I bought Warcraft III the year it came out and played it (and its subsequent expansion) for several years straight. I've always been opposed to the direction World of Warcraft took with the lore for many reasons, but it hasn't stopped me from enjoying the company of private communities and their activities on their servers.

How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?:
I was Googling for a private roleplaying server and yours came up within the first couple of results. After reading further into how your server functions, I felt that this could be the place for me and that I should give it a try and see how it goes.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
To be honest, I'm not that well-versed/experienced/educated as a roleplayer, but would like to expand my abilities and learn to tell a good story. To directly answer the question, I'm not sure what "kinds" of roleplay there are to answer the question with. I've never played tabletop or pencil/paper, unfortunately, but I have played on some forums and in video games themselves (Warcraft III, Battlefront II, and Jedi Academy, as examples). I don't need a lot to get myself going, but I find I'm restricted by a limited imagination to come up with a story and background on the spot. I like to take my time to flesh out a character and setting that I can at least remember long enough to reiterate if need be.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
I am aware of the stigma of this combination, but I won't start my time off here on a note of deception. Human/Paladin. I'm not sure why, but it's probably due to the stereotypical anthropocentric mindset many gamers have. I enjoy playing a human, since it allows me to explore a rather alternate (or adjusted) view of myself, and the paladin not for any gameplay reasons, but because it is a combination of aspects of fantasy that I love; A faith one can actually believe in due to worldly evidence, and a devout dedication to that faith, combined with the strength, will, and fortitude of a soldier who will stop at nothing to defend his principles, people, and way of life.

What are your expectations of this server?:
I have none, honestly. I don't like going into anything with expectations, unless I set them low, so that I'm never disappointed. I'm more interested in exploring what your server has to offer and decide later on if this is the place for me.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
As gruelling as it may be, I like that a player and their character profiles are vetted on the forum before their pixellated boots hit the ground on the server.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
I hope it's all right if I use a sample story I wrote recently in roleplaying n an alternate Warcraft universe server the setting being 30 years after the founding of Durotar as a reference point, year 0 being the founding.

Xavian Angannis [DoB Year 9] was born to Fultan Angannis [DoB Year -24] and Paldera Ruinnen [DoB Year -18].

Fultan and Paldera met at a fairground in Elwynn forest one summer evening and found an immediate attraction to one another. Though from opposite ends of the kingdom, with Fultan being a solitary farmhand living in Westfall and Paldera's fishing family living in Lakeshire, Fultan was determined to reach out to the woman he found love for.

During this time, the uprising of Duke Lescovar took place, at which time Fultan aided the People's Militia in the siege of Sentinel Hill and the overthrow of Lescovar. After a year of courtship, Fultan asked Paldera's hand in marriage. Against her family's wishes, she accepted, leaving her family to begin life in Westfall with her husband. Xavian was born the next year.

Two years after Xavian's birth, Paldera was visiting her family in Lakeshire, as she often did, when the starved Blackrock orcs assaulted the town from Stonewatch Keep and the Burning Steppes. Paldera and her family were slain in the snow before the raid was defeated.

Xavian was raised alone by his father on stories of the heroes of Azeroth, one being his grandfather, Haltan Angannis, who served in both the First and Second wars. Fultan instilled a deep sense of honour and humility in his son, hoping that he would one day strive to become a servant of the Light and not of the cults that professed to adhere to the tenets. He also planted subtle seeds of dissent within his son to prevent him from becoming a blind follower of Emperor Benedictus, at least enough to allow his faith to take precedent before his loyalty to the Empire.

Over the period of his life as farmhand on Jansen's Stead with his father, Xavian became restless and upon the growing bandit raids, he realized the need for martial proficiency. He eventually found interest in enlisting with the Imperial Legions. His father was hesitant towards his son's inspiration, growing increasingly doubtful of the Empire's integrity, believing the direction of the Church of Light had become impaired by the worshiping of the canonized saints.

During a small bandit raid one evening on the stead, Fultan was brutally struck down in front of his son. The next week, Xavian ventured south to enlist at Sentinel Hill.

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
Just that I appreciate your attention to this introduction and I invite any further questions or comments on what you've read here.

Hello there, EvixVortana! Welcome to Conquest of the Horde!

You have a pleasant sound to your writing. I approve. Hopefully we won't disappoint you with what RP we have. Entering the server and its community with low expectations is probably a good thing to do, however. Disappointment is never good. ... Besides, it gives more room for positive surprises as well!

Also, remember to register your in-game account in the Account Management page with the exact information you registered your forum name under.

As per standard approval procedure, I'm going to link you to a few nice places that it certainly doesn't hurt if you double-check and make yourself extra familiar with. These are the Rules and Policies, as well as the FAQs. They've got a bunch of vital information in them.

Without further ado, welcome to the server and I hope we'll see you around!

Happy RPing!

Love,
GM Loxmardin
