I Come In Peace
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:

I joined WoW in mid-Vanilla, and I've always enjoyed it. My interest began to wane in Cataclysm, and though I really do enjoy Mists of Pandaria, my subscription recently ran out and I have no real desire to renew it, so I went looking for other options.

I used to really enjoy PvE, but I've since moved on to almost exclusively PvPing; I've been RPing in some form or another since I was 13, and fairly recently decided to try merging it with my other big pasttime, that being WoW. It was enjoyable.

I'm also pretty anal about spelling and grammar. While I won't jump down the throat of all who encounter me, expect me to correct you every now and again, at least, and if someone displays a total ineptitude with the English language (whether it be incompetence or they're just not a native speaker) I may not want to rp with them because it really irks me and breaks immersion.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:

I'm from 'merica, and I speak the President's English, born and raised.

How did you get into Warcraft?:

I'd never heard of the franchise before WoW. My friends in elementary school played it (sadly enough). I got tired of always hearing them talk about something I wasn't familiar with, so the same person who told me about this server lent me his copy and I made a slew of level 8 Night Elf Hunters and immediately bought the game myself.

How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?:

I have a friend that's been frequenting CotH for a while and talks about it fairly regularly, so when I decided not to renew my retail subscription, I asked him how to get in on this, and he told me. I like what I see so far.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:

I like combat primarily because it's exciting, and I'm good at it, and it feels gratifying because it's ultimately a test of skill. Two people write, and only one of their characters walks away, and you know if it's you, then it's because you were better.

I really do like any form of interesting rp where I can play my characters properly or get in some nice character development - for me or others. My focus has recently been shifting away from the "I never want to do anything but fight" mentality to "cerebral discussions can be fun, too."

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:

I don't have a favorite race; they all interest me in some way shape or form, except Draenei and Tauren. Don't ask me why, I just can't imagine rping a spacegoat or a minotaur. I tend to make Human characters because they're the most relatable, to me, and I'm used to making Humans OOC, so I'm most used to their models and animations.

I also like Blood Elves because of their history, which gives them so many fun opportunities for RP. (I must say I preferred the pre-2.4.3 versions, though, when they still had their magical addictions and were siphoning power from an unwilling Naaru. So much more interesting.)

But in all honesty, I can and have rp'd every race but Tauren and Draenei.

My favorite class is by far the Warrior, who confronts enemies with nothing more than a sword of steel and a will of iron - and triumphs anyway. My second would be a Warlock, for the dark, brooding magics and slow descent, or desperate attempts not to fall, into madness and corruption.

What are your expectations of this server?:

I expect little more than consistent, reliable, and reasonably high-quality rp. I joined this server to roleplay, and hopefully on a level higher than what is found in the Lion's Pride Inn on Moon Guard.

I'd also really hope the moderators and GMs don't abuse their power or use it for (for total lack of any semblance of a better word) "activisting." I've had that issue on a few private servers before.

That's pretty much it. PvP and high population would be bonuses, but I really can live without them.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:

I can't say any PARTICULAR one jumps out at me as making we want to become a part of this server posthaste, but I like that the rules and standards are codified in nonvague, specific language and that a system of appeals that is designed to minimize drama and maximize efficiency seems to be in place.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:

The armies of death were amassed before him, their gleaming skeletons and rotting flesh glowing with a lurid, pale blue light. They looked up with a strange mix of unthinking dispassion and eager hunger at the man standing upon the glacier. Their weight cracked the ice on which they stood and their mere presence defiled it. Broken, rusted weapons rasped in unfeeling hands, once used for heroic deeds but now condemned to be soaked in the blood of innocents as their reborn owners commited atrocities that defied the mortal imagination. Thousands upon thousands, millions upon millions; the dread multitudes waited.
Death stared him in the face, and Jorion Strongshield stared back. The frigid wind blew his fur cloak to one side, revealing a full suit of armor, embossed with intricate designs, once bright, shiny and polished but now stained with snow and dirt and blood. On his back was a rounded triangular shield marked with the faded emblem of the Stormwind infantry, recently painted over with a black sunburst insignia, a circle with four points. At his side was a well-tested but still pristine blade, forged from cursed moonsteel by the greatest dwarven smiths of Stormwind specifically for him, by the King's decree, long ago. His brown hair, touched now with gray and grown out to be shaggy from months of campaigning, blew along with his cloak.
"The pass is safe," he mumbled to himself, "but the way down is blocked by half the Scourge. Damn, this isn't going to work. The Crusade will have to find another way in. Unless..."
An idead struck the warrior, and he as he contemplated it, he gazed down at his adversary.
The eyes of each risen abomination burned with the dark magic of necromancy; from his high perch, it looked to Jorion like a sea of twinkling pale blue stars ebbed and flowed as the innumerable hosts of the damned shifted restlessly. The ironic beauty was not lost on him.
Jorion turned, the ice crunching under his feet. Behind him, a small company, a motley, ragtag group of heroes, merceneraries, adventurers, and survivors waited. Jorion's mouth twitched at the corners. No one among them could really smile anymore; they had seen too much, and moreover, it was far too cold. But they were close to their goal now, very close, and though they numbered fewer even than a dozen, there was no one with whom he would rather be facing the danger below.
"Come on," Sergeant Jorion Strongshield said to his team. "I've found a way down."
"Pack your things. We're going to Icecrown."

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:

Not really.
