Wrath of the Lich King Blood Elf Estates [Custom Patch]
#1
Blood Elf Estates

Hello everyone! I'm here to announce the opening of an area that I've been working on for a nice bit of time.

It is a Blood Even estate made to represent where the noble families of Silvermoon might be living. It was made so that characters would no longer have to pretend that an area they were RPing at did not have outside NPCs in it and so that other players wouldn't get confused if people were telling them that Fairbreeze wasn't really Fairbreeze. The only NPCs present here are Royal Guards and a few Silvermoon Citizens that represent the IC guards and servants most nobles have (and that are frequently puppeted).

How did I decide what to put into the estates? Back in the first Conclave of Silvermoon, I had each noble House do an introduction which consisted of their name and what their house did. Using the answers from the second questions, I tried to add in a little something for every house so that it would be easier for them to call the area 'home'. If there isn't something there representing a house, then either the House joined the Conclave too late, there was no way to represent what the House did or an answer was never really given.

Features:
  • Large garden with a stage
  • Military area with a forge
  • Two two-story homes, one with a tailoring room
  • Three one-story homes [One with a kitchen and one with a bathtub]
  • Library/sanctum
  • Graveyard with a small shrine [Shrine provided by Sol]
  • A stable [Decorations by Caravan]
  • One adobe with an alchemy station on the balcony
  • Custom seating! There are stools hidden in objects around the estates that allow you to sit elsewhere beyond chairs. (For example: The boulders, statues and platforms in the garden.) Special thanks to Caravan for this!

Using the area:
  • 'Claiming' the area.
As with most RP locations, the estates is a first-come, first-served area. If someone is there RPing in the location before you, then respect that they were there first and use the location at a different time. The location for the area shows up as 'Arathi Highlands', so if you see a mass of people there, there is a good chance the area is in use. If you are still not sure, whisper someone who is in the location and ask what area they are at. If, for some reason, there is ever a dispute over a location, do not hesitate to call in a GM.
  • The NPCs
There are servants and guard NPCs around the estates. These guards 'belong' to whoever has 'claimed' the estate at the time. The NPCs cannot be used to kill another player UNLESS it is part of a storyline and both parties have agreed upon it. The most they can be used for otherwise is preventing your character from being killed in their own homes and escorting unwelcome/unruly guests off the property. They are really just there to make sure players cannot be assassinated with the excuse of the guards not being present. The NPCs -never- leave the property. They cannot be used as a personal army.

If you feel the NPCs are being abused by the current inhabitants, please contact a GM with screenshots and logs. Abuse of the NPCs will not be tolerated.
  • It's...neutral?
You might have noticed that both the Alliance and Horde can enter the area! Why is this?

Many blood elven Houses seem to enjoy making alliances with members of the other faction. I decided that with this location, these allies will be able to visit to either get assignments or hang out with their allies. However, the area CAN NOT be 'claimed' by members of the Alliance. They can be in the location and RPing provided that someone from the House they are allied with is there as well. Otherwise, we'd like the area to be open for use by another noble House. Members of the Alliance also have NO control over the NPCs. They will only listen to the House and cannot be ordered to 'obey allies' as well.

All the NPCs are set to be friendly to all factions. If one starts attacking you, let a GM know so it can be dealt with. If the neutrality of this place starts to get abused at all, I will switch it to Horde only. If a problem happens, please contact a GM with screenshots/logs.

Getting to the area:

This area requires the custom patch for you to be able to visit it. To get to the location, find an OOC portal and click the 'RP Locations [PATCH NEEDED]' option then the 'RP Location Selector' option.. This will take you to a platform floating about Tanaris. If you fall through the platform, this means either you do not have the patch, or you loaded in too quickly. If you can see the platform above you, find the OOC portal on the island and try again. Once on the platform, look for the area marked with a plain white flag, near that will be a purple orb that will take you to the location.

Special thanks to Sol and Caravan for helping me with the post!

Because a lot of the custom seats are "if you know where they are they're easy to target" I've taken some screenies of a few of the seats:

"Oh, Statue, you're hilarious."

There is also a seat in the stable, some seats in the fountain, the wagons.... and Reigen put some seats in the bleachers. :)

Although it is true that many elf families like to communicate with members of the Alliance, aren't noble estates typically in blood elf controlled areas? And if not, wouldn't they be in danger from beasts/Alliance/whatever? Unless it was roleplayed that the estate was in a rather obscure location I find it difficult to imagine any humans or whatever traveling to eversong to visit an estate, whether the noble approves or not.

But that's just me being a party pooper on an idea that's meant to promote roleplay. :P

Believe me when I tell you we've bounced this whole idea amongst ourselves for a good long while. We eventually decided that, just as people could easily bring humans in depending on if they wanted to, the person currently 'claiming' the location can say that the estate is situated wherever they please.

It could be in the heart of Eversong or it could be in the surrounding mountains or it could be in an 'terraformed' (elfaformed? Whatever the elves did to make a geographic location that should rightfully be arctic so summery, anyway) plot of land in Arathi. The estates are walled, and the gardens have been so well done by Reigen that it could pass for being in any of the above places and probably a lot more.

Not sure which I like more, the physical nature and attributes of this custom area or the thought and player-base input going into it.

Wait, no. It's the thought that counts. Thank you GM staff!
The true test of his choice lies forward.
