Operation: Gnomeregan [Event tracker]
#1
[Image: gnomereganr.gif]

Operation: Gnomeregan has officially begun! On Event 1, Day 1, we began with an introduction by High Tinker Gelbin Mekkatorque, who had the recruits directed to Steelgrill Depot to train and test some machines. After that, we headed to a front line camp after a near-miss encounter with leper gnomes. Due to their overwhelming numbers, it is not recommended to try to fight the leper gnomes just yet. First, more troops must fall in, and the testing of Gnomeregan's radiation levels must be done.

All in all, a fun event so far, and I'm glad people have enjoyed it as of yet. Tonight is the next event at 8:30 PM Server.

The event schedule is as follows:

Quote:EVENT 1: (Dec. 27: 11 AM ST)

Players are to gather up morale and support as the troops form. They are to ready themselves in preparation for the task ahead through basic training and weapons testing.

EVENT 2: (Dec. 27: 8:30 PM ST)

With the temperatures down, players will open up the vents by throwing Radiageigatrons at them. Science-minded players can read up on the radiation levels from the opened vents.

EVENT 3: (Dec 28: 11 AM ST) Mekkatorque begins the assault. PHASE 1 Begins.

Secure the air field. Players take down rocket launchers, but they also have to defend against irradiated leper gnomes. Players can either disable the launchers altogether or destroy them outright.

EVENT 4: (Dec 28: 8:30 AM ST) PHASE 2

Secure the Surface Command Post. Players will have to fight Tank-Buster Cannons and face irradiated gnomes crawling all over the place.

EVENT 5/6/7: (Dec 29: 10 AM/4:00 PM/ 9:00 PM ST) PHASE 3

Repeat events. IC, this is all in one go, but OOC, there is a justification that players are of different divisions and, thus, cannot interact with the opposite day/morning players. The squads dive into the tunnels, only to find it empty. What they don't know is what awaits ahead...

If you attend one event on this day, you cannot attend the other on the same character.

All events are walk-ins. If you have an suggestions, feedback, criticisms, or the like for this event, go post them here! I will try to make this event chain as enjoyable as possible for everyone involved, especially everyone's gnome characters!

Event 2 has been completed last night (despite my patience nearly at its breaking point due to very unstable internet connection and latency). Our heroes of Gnomeregan flew up to the radiation vents lining the mountain that housed Gnomeregan with the goal to throw Radiageigatrons so that radiation reading can be made from various points of the irradiated city. However, the mission was a near bust--sleet, ice, and visible radiation gases affected our flying copters, causing two individuals--Mathias and Mabraz--to lose altitude and crash. Tragically, Mabraz even lost his life as his copter crashed into a vent.

The struggles were not a complete loss--the readings showed a drop in radiation levels, though the actual entry into Gnomeregan must be done while wearing defense suits. With the ventilation reading mission a success, Mekkatorque will begin the offensive assault of the surface at 11 AM Server today and 8:30 PM Server tonight. The morning will be Phase 1 and the evening Phase 2, so all players can partake in either/or event.

Gnomeregan is within our grasp!

PHASE 1 is complete. It was a fairly chaotic event, mostly due to hindsight; there were more players than I anticipated, and the DCing was almost literally every two minutes. Also, just the very nature of how the event was run by me was a bit poorly done in comparison to the previous events. For this reason, I'll be revising the combat rules.

Quote:1.) Do not whisper to the DM so you can ask permission to be a big damn hero. You are not a big damn hero, you are one of many. If you want do make this event special and enjoyable, follow orders for the love of God.

2.) Do not attack the NPCs. They're set on "neutral" so that you can toggle your combat animation. To do that without killing the mook in front of you, target an NPC far away.

3.) Please approach the NPC you are attacking so I can remove it once you kill it. The death of the NPCs established are not only so we have visuals on the assault, but also to track our event progress. The more NPCs "killed", the closer we are to the conclusion of the event. However, I cannot track the progress of the event unless you approach the NPC.

4.) Give the DM and Assistant DMs time to morph, toggle, and establish other GM commands.

5.) No tanks, bombers, and battle suits allowed. If you don't want to go on foot, go on a mount.

6.) Please be patient with Immy because her internet is an ASS. In times when the DM is not able to issue the next round, RP it out. Downtimes usually do not last longer than 2 minutes, including router resetting and troubleshooter running.

Combat rules are as follows:

Quote:1.) Attack and dodges are determined by mass rolls. Sometimes the threshold ("Roll higher than ## to dodge!") can be changed up depending on the situation. You do not, however, attack before the RW is sounded off. If you do, it will not count.

2.) You are not a big damn hero.

3.) Once more, please approach your target, and attack only one at a time. No AoEs permitted, and if you attempt on, you will only be able to take down one target.

4.) Do not attack friendlies, PLEASE.

5.) You are not a big damn hero.

6.) Focus on the mission at hand. Do not try to hijack the mission to be a big damn hero.

7.) By the way, you are not a big damn hero.

I will be working on lowering down the number of NPCs. In addition, due to the massive and chaotic size of this morning's event, I will be having THREE repeat events tomorrow. No more than 12 players (except GMs) are allowed to join in one event. If you miss out in one, you have to attend the next.

The schedule has been updated above. Please plan out when is the best time for you to arrive, and if you cannot come in one event, try to come in the other.

PHASE 2 is a wonderful success! The Surface Command Post was secured, and Mekkatorque and a mad Tankbuster Cannon pilot even exchanged heated dialogue! Thankfully, we got air support that took down the remaining enemies while our heroes stayed strong at the front lines! Now our troops have marched forward with more area to camp out.

I thank you all for tonight's event, as it went by absolutely beautifully. Special thanks to Caravan (Rewella) and Glasscake (Mabarz OOC) for assisting in DMing the event.

A reminder that tomorrow will have THREE repeat events, not two! The times are as follows:

A.) 10:00 AM

B.) 4:00 PM

C.) 9:00 PM

All server times, of course!

Also, no more than 12 players can join in one event, so come early! If you can't make it to the first or second events, you at least have the third. GMs are exempt from this rule (as you would be assisting in the event).

Once again, thank you everyone for your participation! GNOMEREGAN IS ALMOST OURS!

The first replay event has been concluded! The next one starts at 4:00 PM Server, and the final one at 9:00 PM! No update on the story yet, let's wait until all three events are complete!

Remember that the first 12 to whisper to Pulline (GMs and Assistant-DMs excluded) get a spot! Come early if you wish to join!

Event 2 is over! The story changed a little due to the interactions with the players, but that doesn't mean it's incompatible with that of Event 1!

Attendees of Event 3, prepare yourselves for the 9:00 PM event!

Event 3 is complete! An update on the story (combining incidents from all three events):

The High Tinker Mekkatorque greeted our heroes and provided a mission briefing on what is to come. By arriving at the gates, however, the fight with irradiated leper gnomes was brought to them. The gnomes were defeated, but just as they were about to make their way into the gates, they were stopped by Thermaplugg's Brag-bot, which acted as a remote-controlled representation of the traitor himself. Upon the robot bursting into great flame, a horde of troggs inundated the gates, and soon, they were followed by a giant trogg named Gasherikk. Gasherikk senselessly crushed Phil (Nikodemos) to death, and though Mekkatorque swung at his arm to break him, he was knocked out viciously. Our heroes endured and defeated Gasherikk, and after a brief moment was spent on recovering and mourning for the departed, they raced down and dove into the Gnomeregan depths.

Down below was eerily quiet--no sign of Thermaplugg's defenses was anywhere. All that was visible was a second Brag-bot and what seemed to be an enormous radiation bomb. Mekkatorque and his forces were soon swarmed by more irradiated gnomes, and eventually, they are caught up by Thermaplugg's lieutenant, Commander Boltcog. Sonn (Noble) was tragically crushed to death by the crazed commander, but Boltcog was eventually defeated by the combined attacks of Mekkatorque and our heroes.

Thermaplugg was not finished with them yet. After a short exchange with the High Tinker, he attempted to disentigrate them all with the bomb. Mekkatorque was about to disarm the bomb himself, but it was no use--the bomb was only seconds away before the High Tinker could attempt anything. Thankfully, his assistant Lapforge teleported everyone back to Tinker Town, saving everyone remaining from an explosion that arguably all of Dun Murough can feel.

Though the attempt at taking back Gnomeregan was thwarted, Mekkatorque is not discouraged. With the air field and surface command post fully secured, the surface region of Gnomeregan is completely under full gnomish control. Mekkatorque thanked and saluted our heroic troops, and they were each rewarded for their contribution to the operation.

Mabarz (Glasscake), Sonn, and Phil were all buried in memory of the lives lost to Gnomeregan's cause. Troops have settled into both areas of Gnomeregan's surface. Mekkatorque himself has retreated into Ironforge as New Tinkertown is being rebuilt.

Though the city is not completely retaken, hope is alive and shining bright for home city of Gnomeregan.

Phil crumpled beneath the weight of the massive trogg; amidst the corpses of his fallen enemies, battered and broken, for a cause he did not believe in... like a big damn hero!

Thanks for the event chain Immy, you did an excellent job! Happy Birthday too!
