Sabbatical

You will notice my name is Grunt teal now. Yes, I have stepped down from GMship, but only for a short while. Here are my reasons:


1.) Work. I am being more aggressive in my job-hunting in hopes to get a full-time job as opposed to the ungodly measly hours I have as a teacher at the academy.

2.) General CotH burnout. This isn't the usual burnout I had previously, but moreso realizing I have placed way too much on my plate. The sudden burst of profiles you see in the Workshop isn't so much excitement for WoW RP (though it is) as it is realizing that my creative output is out of control and I needed some way to let it out. Upon looking at Kitson and Gunther, I realize that I am misplacing that output. It needs to go where it belongs.


Now, this is a GM sabbatical. I'm still here, still leading TLE, still RPing goofiness with my characters here. However, my activity will drop once more as I'm job-hunting. At the same time, I'll be taking a backseat in pushing forward events. While I love leading RP, my creativity output was going someplace that wasn't paying bills. On the other hand, my original works will be something I can sell. "Baga" will be a novel, and "Tales of Okasan" will be a youtube video narrative I'm hoping would get sponsors.


Now, if Blizzard takes notice of me and take me in as a writer/artist, that'd be awesome. But alas, I am not that unrealistic in realizing my dreams as an artist and writer. I am a teacher and desk worker first, creative person second. My life needs straightening out before I can take the helm of GM once more.


So why not just leave CotH entirely? One reason: I love you all too much to let you go. You are a community that has provided me emotional stability, a place where I can come to after work and expect warm welcomes instead of being reprimanded for not doing house chores spotlessly. When the recent ban occurred, there were more people unwilling to believe the smear campaign against my name than those who were willing to believe yet another corruption accusation; for that, not only am I eternally grateful, but cheered in the fact that this community has more heart than we give credit for. If I let go of CotH entirely, I will be cutting off emotional bonds I've created with the community. I don't want to do that, or else my job hunt will be more unbearable.

So, CotH, I hope you don't mind one less GM to fulfill your building and event-leading needs. It won't be forever. Perhaps in the summer/fall of this year, I will return, with a steadier paycheck and stabler life. But until then, no green in my name.

No see man, you're a GOOD writer. Blizzard doesn't want good writers. That's why they still have Metzen. If they hired you, they would probably force you to be like Metzen. Don't be like Metzen man.
