I'd think either Celonia or Anithrandil would have had the most unexpected character development.
Celonia was originally a char created for one or two RP sessions for the sake of getting RP but she turned into a loving and caring young mother with a giant cat following her around.
Anithrandil, who strangely enough despite being an undead jerk (and that's nicely said), got a living worgen girlfriend. Don't ask me how he did it, guess girls just love jerks, even if they're undead.
Or maybe even Elles. Never intended her to fall in love, especially not with a big arse worgen dude and ending up carrying his son/daughter.
I will not be forgotten. This is my time to shine. I've got the scars to prove it. Only the strong survive. I'm not afraid of dying. Everyone has their time. Life never favored weakness.

Welcome to the pride!

I can totally relate to this.

Alariel was more or less the same type of character. I was trying to create a chracter that would be all flirty and sweet, but who is actually cruel and twisted inside which she hides from others.
Quote:She will not hesitate to flirt her way into gaining something to her advantage and is at her most dangerous when doing so.

It wasn't long before Alariel turned into a bitchy character who simply loves to fight others in Gurubashi. Her 'shell' of sweet and flirty nature quickly fell off, and I think a few characters would be happy to dispose her.

My other characters ddn't change much, really. I'd sure love to get them into events to give them the opportunity to grow. Maybe include Elandriel in some Kaldorei RP to see how she would react to certain situations, or test Thalarion's patience in some other event.

Lets see...Avira. I originally made her to be a cold hearted person, but dat one night in Dalaran... That flex-off changed everything about that, she instantly turned into someone that had a painfully hard time dealing with any kind of muscular male. Good times.

Now with Wick, I had, believe it or not, planned for him to be dark, and a bit harsh in everything he did. This changed when I first threw him into RP at random during what seemed to be an important situation going on. So what did I do? Made up a brain-rot side out of nowhere. I then added a cockroach and trusty ghoul to the mix. He's now probably one of my second most known characters because of it.

And last would be none other than Faelara. My first profiled character. She first started out as someone that was shy to a lot of things. It was actually Bah'to that made me change how she was, she was less shy and kid-like after she got him. Another huge change definitely happened with the pregnancy, a whoooole lot of development came from that. Much more development than I thought I'd ever get for her in fact. That drastically changed how she acted as it went on, and I loved the changes. Heck, it even changed how Bah'to was done as well.

Jaedyn
Spoiler:
I can confidently say, without a doubt, that Jaedyn is the character that I've had the longest, and that has managed to change the absolute most in my time with him. Some of it was my doing, some of it wasn't.

Originally, Jaedyn was my first character that I rolled when I came to CotH (my first RP character, mind you). I had gotten into an RP with a friend after creating him, and it was a battle in Gurubashi. I hadn't had an idea for Jaedyn at the time, but after this fight in Gurubashi, I simply fell in love with the combat system of this server, and I decided that I needed a character. I needed a character who would simply, and only serve the purpose of getting a good fight. That was his entire purpose, was just to fight.

When I was designing Jaedyn, I wasn't designing him to be particularly rude. When I RPed him, though, he almost naturally became arrogant, prideful, and disrespectful. I just kind of went with it and played him out, even though I tried not making him too over-the-top. Eventually, people really started to dislike him ICly because of his nature, but the fact was I couldn't change it. He had already began to act this way, so it was against the code of RP to simply make him act an entirely different way for no apparent reason.

I continued to play him, then something rather odd happened. He ICly fell in love. Again, this wasn't planned; It managed to happen on its' own. Through the whole tale of falling in love and not being able to express himself, Jaedyn managed to go from several phases. He got a lot angrier at one point, then a lot less motivated, then a lot less loud. After recovering from the fall-out between him and the female, he never came back around to as powerful a jerk as he was before.

Fast forward to today. The present. Jaedyn has been in countless situations, and events, that have shaped him beyond my recognition. Take the Kidnapped event. Yes, I was voluntarily throwing Jaedyn into a cave. Did I know how he would react? Kind of. Did he react like I expected? Nope. Not only did he calm down (I expected him to be ornery and frustrated the whole time), he also began to socialize and make friends and try to work together with people! This was an entire 180 change from what I knew Jaedyn to be, and I loved it. Not only did he make such a sudden change, he made a change that I liked, because the people liked it. He still changes every day.

Kuzz
Spoiler:
Kuzz, the only other character that I can think of that enough people know for me to make a post based around him.

Originally, Kuzz was a very simple character design. Me and a friend were going to pair up, and make brother goblins. One would craft armor and weapons (him), and one would sell them (me). Kuzz was intended to be the stereotypical goblin that runs around with a large bag full of goodies, trying to get everybody to buy from him. In the beginning, yes. He was cheap, he was a little ridiculous, and all he really wanted was money.

Then, suddenly, the character got no RP. He went a lot time without it, and I deleted him. Go ahead about a month or so, and I remade him, a totally different character with a totally different look. Anybody that knows Kuzz knows of his 'magic' bag, and his original idea (of carrying around a Santa-like sack) influenced me to give him that.

When I re-designed Kuzz, I had again intended for him to be a merchant just making a living. Then the day came when I asked Rensin about the Grey Militia on GMI. He described the guild, and it sounded like a blast, so I threw Kuzz into the fray. I took him to the Undermine and made him a part of the Militia.

Once Kuzz joined the Militia, his self-development skyrocketed. Everything that Kuzz became was unintended. He became a womanizer, he fell in love with a goblin named Immy, he even became a drug-lord. I didn't intend for ANY of this to happen, but I sure am glad it did. Kuzz, because of his unstable range of emotions, was some of the deepest RP I've ever had. He really suffered from complexities like trying to please everyone, although he was suffering inside. I've never ever had a character that faced those types of problems, because I never designed it. If Kuzz had fit my design, his fun level would've been reduced by about 500% (@Randomzac and @MstrCorvus can attest to Kuzz's fun level).

All in all, Kuzz was some of the best RP I've had on a character, and he continues to basically shape himself. While I make plans for where to take him and how to involve him, he manages to do the rest and change himself, or change the others around him.

Ariamis
Spoiler:
@Kage @MstrCorvus (and all the other Fairstars I can't remember)

Ariamis Fairstar was the first bloodelf that I really ever rolled with intent to get profiled and to get RP. I was odd at going about it, and wasn't quite sure how to make it happen, but I got a good idea. He is a swordsman, the firstborn of Krest, and was prideful because of this. Very good by the blade, etc.

I had intended for him to be a son that wanted to seek approval from his father. I wanted every motive of his to be placed behind his father, as often some firstborns do. Instead, he developed his own personality. He became his own character, who had a hint of sarcasm, cynicism, and arrogance.

Especially now, after learning of his father's death, Ariamis is changing much to a more cold, angrier person. Instead of looking to please his father, his motives are now melding to the path of revenge. This change happened, of course, from something totally out of my control. I can't necessarily say that I enjoy this change of his, but I can't interrupt if I don't. Even though I haven't publicly RPed him much, I plan to more, and see much more changing in his future.

*I may do some later. Short on time where I am now.

Can confirm, Kuzz's fun level is too high to be measured.

As for my own unexpected development, Reline turned out differently from my original design of stone-cold assassin. She ended up as a person who kept others at an emotional distance because she didn't like bringing other people into harm's way as well as a silent guardian for a certain person.

Personally, all of my characters shape themselves, so to speak. I make a character with a class and an idea. I kit them out, get them into RP and start RPing the way I intended. Over the course of a single RP session, their personality fluctuates radically and it often takes 2-3 RP sessions for them to settle into their true personality. I don't fight this process because it really is an awesome thing to watch your idea bloom and become their own person and knowing that they developed that way all on their own.

I think my character who changed the most over time was Calista. I originally intended on making her a warlock initiate that slowly grew more and more evil and an expert in demonology. Lelnope. I had something like three RPs with her before she wandered off into Westfall, and there her new fate was decided.
She met Aileen, became her friend, and soon she was adopted by the Appleflow. Retconned her warlockery, remade her as a simple civillian (used the rogue class). She had a great time with the Appleflow. I absolutely loved it. Her personality changed to that of a childish girl who spends all her time gossiping with her adoptive sisters.
Then, Markuss died. Calista turned more religious, and started her path as a priest. Woah, from warlock to priest?! What a change. Anyway, she was left behind as the Appleflow went inactive. I missed playing her a lot. I have hopes of getting her back now that some Appleflows came back.

Second, I have Garuda. Once a grumpy ex-warlock, she started a quest for peace with the spirits, travelling back to her homeland. Suddenly, I had this traditionalist, calm orc shaman.
