My Introduction
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
I'm extremely new to WoW (I've been playing less than a week). I'm still learning things, in all honesty, but this feels like a really friendly and helpful community where I would easily be able to become more familiar with the game. I have a little roleplaying experience, though mainly it was doing "one on one" roleplay over chat. I think the whole graphical interface (to say the least) that WoW offers will make for a much more satisfying experience!

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I'm from the United States. My primary language is English. I can also speak Hebrew!

How did you get into Warcraft?:
I was sleeping over at a friend's house in elementary school and he showed me Warcraft III. I was instantly fascinated by the mechanics and appearance of the game as well as its story (this was of course long before I knew the term "lore"). I have since replayed the single-player campaigns many times over the years, and I still have the game on my computer.

How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?:
Well, I'm only interested in playing on private servers -- ah, the life of a poor college student -- but all of the previous ones I encountered were PvP, which really doesn't appeal to me. It seems like those type of players are just interested in leveling and have no concern for lore at all! :(

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
Story? Hopefully that makes sense. I'm not sure I'm massively interested in fighting roleplays because I find them a bit dull. I'd like to be able to contribute to a large plot, though, and I don't mind playing along a predetermined course (like the WC3 campaigns). I hope this answered the question well... I was a bit unsure what to write here honestly!

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
Hmmm. I think I'll say the Draenei are my favorite race. I think that their history as a people is really intriguing, and I like their design. I remember the Draenei that appeared in WC3 that were for lack of a better word, ugly. I found it sort of humorous how Blizzard then declared that these Draenei were actually "broken" and not normal Draenei so that they could offer a prettier class to play... But all that aside, I still like them. I don't think I've played WoW long enough to have a favorite class, so hopefully my answer was sufficient!

What are your expectations of this server?:
Well, I'd like to make some friends! I haven't had much luck in it on the server which I previously played on but I think it will work out much better on a roleplaying server. Also, I'm hoping to test and improve my writing skills, which I think roleplay will help me accomplish.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
I am not sure if this applies, but I was really pleased by the FAQ answer to "Is this server right for me?" I can see that it's going to be much different than my previous server, where there was no apparent interest in lore. I almost laughed out loud at "you want to be level 80 as fast as possible" because I've seen so many private servers that boast about having all characters start out at level 80, which seems totally undesirable (and kind of inane) to me.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
Here's a story I've been working on for a bit; I was experimenting with multiple perspectives. It isn't done yet, but hopefully it gives you a feel for my style of writing.

Summer came and went like a dream, and Lily watched as the weather forecasts descended and her parents breathed a sigh of relief as school returned again. She prepared herself by trying to find some positives of the event; she was pleased at the prospect of spending time with her best friend, Justine, who had spent the months off working at a faraway camp.
On the Monday that marked the first day of junior year in high school, Justine pulled up to the Atwood home in the cheap, unattractive automobile her parents had been able to afford. Lily jogged out and slid into the passenger’s seat, and the two shared a sort of hug.
-
“It’s not a very nice car, but it’s probably safe enough,” Ellen said, just to herself. Her husband had gone to work about an hour previously, and Mack was still asleep, so there was no one to talk to, anyway. If Ellen had really wanted to worry about the car, it would have made more sense to do it last year, when Justine had first started driving her daughter.
As the car pulled out of the driveway, Ellen watched Lily, but she didn’t look back. Her daughter’s eyes were brown, like her own, but darker – a deep muddy color, a shiny almost-blackness.
-
The world was foggy, with the earth barren and the sky inviting. “Are you sure you’re ready for this mission, Pilot Atwood?” the commander asked, and Mack looked up and nodded. He entered the spacecraft, holding onto his teddy bear but knowing fully what the task ahead entailed.
As the rocket soared into the air, Mack looked down at the world below and watched as the commander and his associates’ waving hands became tiny wiggling dots. He returned his gaze to the sky, but found it was dissolving into another scene entirely; the dark sky was fading to mint green… the color of his bedroom ceiling.
-
John loved his Bentley; he’d had it since before he and Ellen had had children, when the cash flow had been tremendous. Those were the days when they both worked: he at the accounting firm as always, and Ellen seeing five or six patients a day, diagnosing them with mental disorders he’d never heard of. They made love almost every night, and life was good, and John was happy.
Now John didn’t like to think about sex anymore. When his mind went there, he thought of his wife and her frigidity and he was sad, or he thought of Lily and some idiot teenager and he was angry.

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
As I said in my first answer, I'm very much a novice player, so there are things I won't know how to do and things I might not understand about the game's workings. I may need a little help with that at times! Hopefully I won't seem like an annoying noob :)

The only question I have is: is it alright that I'm male and plan to play a female character? I tend to write them better for some reason. I'm guessing it isn't a problem, but I just want to be sure.

Hello there, Aluxen! Welcome to Conquest of the Horde!

Don't worry about being new to WoW! There are plenty of guides on the forum that you can use to give basic ideas of races, character types and the like and there's always a whole forum and playerbase to ask if you're unsure of anything at all. The GM team is always happy to help, as well. :D

And that's no problem at all, playing the opposite gender. We have plenty who do and mainly play only the opposite gender. No one will look at you funny for doing that, at all. :)

Remember to register your in-game account in the Account Management page with the exact information you registered your forum name under.

As per standard approval procedure, I'm going to link you to a few nice places that it certainly doesn't hurt if you double-check and make yourself extra familiar with. These are the Rules and Policies, as well as the FAQs. They've got a bunch of vital information in them.

Without further ado, welcome to the server and I hope we'll see you around!

Happy RPing!

Love,
GM Loxmardin
