Rahk'Gul [Ogre Mage - Persistent]
#1
Race of character/NPC: Ogre
Class of character/NPC: Orc Mage
Name of character/NPC: Rahkgul, Rahk'Gul the Ogre Mage
Exact modelID requested: 21404, the displayID of Chu'a'lor, scaled to 0.7!
Duration that character will be used: Persistent
Location the character/NPC will reside: Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdoms, primarily! Northrend and Outland are not directly planned for, but who knows?
Level requested: 85
Any special equipment needed: None

Purpose for the character/NPC: Events of varying shapes and sizes to encourage and stimulate Horde RP, and an attempt from my side to give insight into the Lore surrounding the ogres and their struggles. I hope to give players a deeper understanding of the ogres, as well as giving them memorable experiences surrounding the events they partake in. I've also talked with other CMC owners, and he may become an opponent or rival of Dilly's Banil'qaar due to their conflicting motives, and a friend of Thoradin's ogre! I personally believe that everyone can benefit equally from a group effort! :D

Spoiler:

The fate of the ogres is undeniably tied to the Horde. For as long as anyone can remember, the orcs and the ogres have been in conflict, both between themselves and each other. Scholars theorize that in the past the ogres, excluding their gronn masters, were the largest creatures to roam Draenor. They were the apex predators, and they ruled the world, yet somehow that changed. The orc clans had always lived separately, but suddenly they began to gather under one great banner, one great chieftain. A new power laid claim to Draenor, and subjected the ogres to its rule. Those who didn't willingly join them were either enslaved or killed. Thus began the rise of the Horde, and the fall of the ogres. The ogres were assimilated into the Horde war machine, used and abused as slave soldiers to fight in a war that wasn't theirs.

However, not all of the ogres were doomed to slavery. A small number were chosen by Gul'dan to be exalted above and beyond their kin. These ogres became infused with the power of deceased warlocks. These ogres became the ogre magi, and the experiment that lead to their creation was a radical success. Soon, more ogres were empowered, and along with his death knights, they became Gul'dan's most infamous creations. These new ogres were more powerful than their cousins by far, and far more intelligent. Despite the troubled past, they came to enjoy the company of orcs more than that of their own kind. Many of them have separated themselves from their kind, and after the fall of the old Horde and the internment of the orcs, they used their newfound freedoms to explore Azeroth and the extent of their power. While some settled down with their kind and became spiritual guides to clans and advisors to chieftains, and others clung to old hatreds and waged the war the orcs began, others still have cut ties to their kind and the Horde alike, seeking only to make a new life for themselves. Preferably, a new life in power.

In the aftermath of the Cataclysm, much is still the same as it was after the Second War. The ogres are a dying breed, and the Horde is waging a war on many fronts. Both orcs and ogres are in an inevitable struggle. They must fight and prove themselves, or succumb to extinction. That is an opportunity for those with ambition and for those who crave power, and Rahk'Gul is one such who would seize it.

I felt that due to the unique nature of the ogre mage, it was prudent to leave a couple of notes about their most iconic spells and traits, along with their pros and cons. I'm uncertain whether I'll compose a profile for him beyond this, but I may be inspired to do so.

Spoiler:
==Skills and Abilities==

*'''Bloodlust [Time Warp]:''' With arts known to the ogre magi ever since the Second War, Rahk'Gul is capable of empowering himself and his allies with a magic-induced bloodlust. This spell instills the infamous, unquenchable bloodthirst that swept Azeroth during the First and the Second War, and magically enlarges and strengthens the body of the affected. The bloodlust only lingers for a few minutes, but is very exhaustive for the target. The spell should only be cast infrequently, as it only invigorates the target for the duration of the bloodlust. While it has no permanent effects after a single use, overexposure to the magic can cause lethargy or even heart failure - though the symptoms may vary depending on the target.

*'''Runes [Flamestrike]:''' By inscribing these subtle magical patterns on the ground, Rahk'Gul leaves an enchantment that will unleash an explosive blast right under the next unsuspecting victim's feet. Unfortunately, the patterns do not distinguish friend from foe, and they should be approached with caution regardless of allegiance. The magical energies within the pattern are exhausted after a single blast, and they may be discovered prematurely if one is fortunate.

*'''Layers:''' To some extent, the ogres have natural armor in their layers of fat and muscle. While internal organs and such are difficult to reach with swords and axes, the ogres' massive size make them an easy target for heavier weapons.
