Good luck getting shy people involved. Writing is easy, since you can look for mistakes and make sure, that at least for you, what you wrote, is alright. Speaking, not so much. I started playing Resistance and Liberation again, voice communication is important in there. I have yet to deliver a single sentence without changing accent, repeating few words, pausing to rethink what I said or just sound like I usually sound, quiet, rather slow.

I must admit, I started to want to use my voice as communication more, I think it is more or less thrilling for me to speak with total strangers, wont do it in person, but on net I am starting to enjoy having to try and keep myself in check.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I would like to see Podcast of sorts, just I think it would be a challenge.

Quote:A podcast could be cool.

That's something I would really like to see-- I mean hear. I'm for it.

Quote:I have yet to deliver a single sentence without changing accent, repeating few words, pausing to rethink what I said or just sound like I usually sound, quiet, rather slow.

I actually think despite that, it would be pretty cool to have people talk who's primary language isn't English. It just only shows people that we're not selective about region, as long as you know English it's fine and people are willing you help you with it. I personally love to hear accents and languages other than my own, but that's probably because I'm an American girl.. "Say something to me!" "Wow, you sound so cool!" I'm very much in awe... Heh..

On another note though, I'm pretty excited about this.

Tumblr - We can have a page of rules/policies and links, post upcoming events, show screenshots from events, maybe a meme or two since I know COTH has a sense of humor somewhere, screenshots of custom places, maybe writings about the server from people who are members, cool stuff

DeviantArt - Almost the same thing in regards to having a page describing rules and links and etc, yet this place would have writings from people on COTH, artwork of characters and doodles, again cool stuff

As for Facebook and Google + - I think they're fine the way they are because unlike tumblr and deviantart, you don't really get much anonymity which is probably why some people are like.. Nope.

Someone should make a poll, to see how many are willing to talk in a podcast, how many wish for podcast to happen... also does anyone know how podcasts work?

There was a podcast for CotH back in the day, conveniently called the CotHcast. It was pretty popular and covered a pretty wide range of topics. If you're looking for inspiration, you can check it out by clicking here. I'm sure if you asked Kretol nicely enough, he could help you out with it by creating a sub-forum and such.

In the sense of advertising the server, I don't think Tumblr or DeviantArt will get us many players. A Private WoW RP server is a very small market and hasn't seen much growth lately. With it being increasingly difficult to catch up to retail in terms of expansions and patches, we won't ever see the number of people coming from retail like we used to.

In my opinion, our best way to advertise the server is to focus on the server itself. If we have people creating events, pushing storylines forward and generating RP, I'm sure we'll see an increase in activity and new players. If people are joining the server and only seeing a few people out there RP'ing while the rest are in GM Island, they might not get the right impression. Aside from that, getting friends interested via word-of-mouth is always a good bet too.

I do like the idea of a DeviantArt for the community though. If people were contributing to it I think it'd be a nifty thing to have.

As Osvaldas said, a poll would be a good idea as well. Generate some interest in the podcast and get some people on board to help out and take it from there.

Not that I'd actually remember, but don't Blizzard still sue people for running private servers?

If we started to advertise more, wouldn't that attract some bad attention?

If I recall right, they only go after those making money off the server. If we offered things like paid membership, staff spots for donations and whatnot, then it'd be an issue.

What I'd like to see is a blog or something in which people could upload (appropriately edited) chat logs, possibly with screenshots or illustrations. We have a lot of great little moments in CotH that would make for nice vignettes.
Just the other day, my Taunka's meeting with a human "Talesinger" or a hilarious shouting match between two nearby Gilneans would be engaging and amusing, respectively.
Or when the one chick used her eye socket as a bottle opener. That was such a "wat" moment.

As CotH has a primary focus on character development, characters's first encounters with each other typically turns into a display of their personality and general theme. What better way to get people interested in CotH than by sharing the characters we've all come to love.

Anyone have a chat log from the Valentine's day strip poker a few years back? Nekkid Kapre will bring in all the RPers.

That was a fun thread...

Nay I say, bring it back nao. Even though I really have little spare time recently I shall endorse all fun ideas from the sidelines.
