First and foremost, tell us about yourself as a player.
I am nineteen years old and currently attending college the college of my choice, but other than the factual I'm painfully dull. I suppose I'm given to dreaming quite a bit, and there's how reclusive I can be.
What country do you come from? What is your primary language?
I am a native citizen of the United States. Appropriately, I speak and write English on an undergraduate level.
How did you get into Warcraft?
Battle.net had a surprisingly healthy roleplaying and modding community for years on end. It still does. I got wrapped in with tool design for a time.
When World of Warcraft was released, I decided to give it a spin.
How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?
I need a willful break from my other roleplaying venues. It'll probably do me a world of good, and even more if I take the time to experience the writing ethics of other communities while I do so.
At a glance, this is a somewhat more structured option than many gamemaster free-for-alls.
I can also scan the forum without seeing any of the following:
What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?
There's nothing quite like grieving the end of a good book. I want to capture that. I want to go to bed each night with that sense of inspiration from a story well told, or having set the stage of exactly that for another. Far more than simply wearing a suit of digital skin, I want to help make a tale worth telling.
Can you understand that?
What is your favorite race/class? Why?
Forsaken. Sentient undead have always been a compelling psychodrama for me, from Warhammer's Tomb Kings to Gygax's calculating liches. They have a completely alien way of looking at the world that they need to reconcile with the beliefs and values of a human life. It disappoints me how often such characters don't begin to approach that potential for maddening complexity, and instead are cardboard cutout villains or comedy.
Paladin, and I do mean one that holds himself to a higher standard, not because the Light requires it, but because it is the right thing to do. A paladin should hold whatever vows they've sworn with a sense of sacredness. He is not defined by what powers he may or may not have, but by the person he chooses to be.
What are your expectations of this server?
I prefer to reserve judgement until I've had a proper, thorough feel for things.
Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?
A gamemaster's word is final. I come from a roleplaying background heavy in D&D, so I have always found it jarring to watch others bicker or bargain with their narrator.
If it's necessary to state an actual rule, though, it would be "keyboarding skills." A weak writer is one thing, a messy read is another.
Did you know that we have a Mentor Program? It's entirely voluntary and you as a new player can sign up for it right now in your introduction! Are you interested in signing up to be assigned a Mentor?
Yes, why not?
Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action.
I think I'll improvise a diddly. Give it whatever musical pace you like.
Down to Hell and Nine again they dug as deep as could be,
they broke the rocks and split the stones and cut the land in three,
they would not rest, they would not tire,
for 'tis no small task
to escape a sky afire.
These men who delved, they had vowed to live;
they promised that to despair they'd never give.
No matter what they lost or how they bled,
they'd do what it took to keep their children fed.
These words are engraved into a crude, ancient door you found set into the side of this tunnel. On the other side are four adult and two undersized skeletons. They seem to be holding each other.
