My Introduction
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
I'm a pretty casual player and, I've never had a chance to RP seriously, but I've always been interested. I'd like to get involved in a community of veterans willing to help newcomers.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I'm from the USA, and English is my primary language.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
I started playing World of Warcraft about four years ago. My boyfriend got me into it, and after about a year, he and his friend's stopped playing it. So I mostly play solo, but I much prefer playing in a group.

How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?:
I googled WoW RP servers and CotH sounded like the best, I like the idea of having a mentor who could show me the ropes.

What kinds of role-play do you enjoy?:
I'm not sure yet, I hope to gain some insight through my experiences on this server.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
I don't have a favorite race, my least favorite is gnome. My favorite class is the Hunter, I enjoy having a pet who can fight for me. Though i also enjoy playing Mage, and Warlock characters.

What are your expectations of this server?:
I expect to find an active and inclusive role-play experience.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which
appeals to you the most?:

The requirement that everyone who plays the realm role-play, and have at least a fundamental idea of the lore behind Warcraft.

Did you know that we have a Mentor Program? It's entirely voluntary and you as a new player can sign up for it right now in your introduction! Are you interested in signing up to be assigned a Mentor? If so, say so here (Please enter at least "Yes" or "No"):
Yes, please.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
A fisherman, long lived at the edge of a sea cliff, with none but his beautiful and vain Daughter for company. As the man grew old and ill, his Daughter grew distant and cold. She wanted little to do with her poor, frail Father. Often she spent her days at the cliff side, staring into the waves and wishing for a life not her own.
One day as she watched the sea, a great crash of spotted seals flooded into the bay. She watched in awe as the seals shed their coats and turned into the most gorgeous men and women she had ever seen. Selkies, she realized with a start. One pair in particular caught her eye, a fair man with eyes like a raging storm and hair blacker than ink. And his mate, a pale and graceful woman with hair like fire and eyes that sparkled like the summer sea.
The Daughter was overcome with jealousy at the beauty of the Selkie Maiden that clung to the handsome Seal Lord as they stood in the crashing surf and watched the horizon. She stormed away from the cliff-side returning to her Father’s meager cabin, she wished to tell him of the spectacle in the bay. Shocked she was to find her Father missing; all the cabinets empty of food, all the money she’d stolen from him and squirreled away gone.
She sat at the rough hewn table of oak and sobbed, she realized in horror that her Father had left her, for their wagon, and the aging nag were gone as well. She cried herself to sleep at the table, pining. Not for her Father, or his abandonment. But for the loss of her money, she’d hoped to pay her way to a new life with the money she’d taken from him, and now she feared there was no hope for her future. Filled with a sense of hopeless dread the Daughter wept herself to sleep.
A Knock on the door startled the maid into wakefulness. She crept to the door silently, and cautiously called, inquiring as to who would knock upon her portal so late in the evening, for while she slept the sun had hid beneath the sea and the full moon now hung high in the sky.
The voice that answered her query was soft and sweet, full of beautiful sighing tones. The Daughter realized this must be the Selkie Maiden with fiery hair. The soft voice begged her pardon, and after apologizing for the late intrusion, requested to speak to the fishmonger who owned the land. With a strangled sob the Daughter remembered her Father’s betrayal.
With a heavy heart she forced an apology past the lump sitting in her throat and informed the Selkies of her Father’s departure. Another voice strong and deep, asked then if she had food to spare, or a bed he and his mate could take. The Daughter realized the voice must then belong to the Seal Lord. She hastily smoothed down her hair and the bodice of the drab dress she wore, as she informed them of the room left empty, with her Father gone.
She swung the door wide to admit the lord and his mate, after apologizing for the lack of victuals she showed them to her own room, for her bed was larger and softer. She offered the pair extra blankets, for the Daughter could see the selkie Maiden’s stomach was swelling with child. She drew the Seal Lord aside after his mate was settled and told of the plight her Father had left her, and sobbing she begged the handsome lord for help.
He knew not what he could do for the sobbing child that stood in front of him, but extend to her the same proposal they’d given her Father when he’d first purchased the land. He told her of the importance the bay held to his selkie tribe, for it was the breeding ground of his people. He offered the services of his men and women as hunters and fishers for the fishmonger’s Daughter if in return, she promised to never harm the bay or his tribe, and give them shelter when they came from the sea heavy with child and weary of travel.
The Daughter quickly agreed and cried as she thanked the lord for his kindness. And in the seasons to come she worked alongside the selkie men and women to build cabins and homes along the outskirts of the bay, as the huntsmen of the tribe brought in a bounty of fish and sea life for the fishwife and her selkie helpers to dine on of an evening. When at last the bay was complete the selkie tribe bade farewell to the new guardian of their homes.
As the Selkie Lord watched his tribe depart he turned to the Maiden standing on the cliffs beside him, and bowing as he thanked her for all she’d done, he gave the woman a box. He told her of the fae treasure within the box. A fine seal coat.
He explained that when she wore the coat and swam in the sea she would change into a seal, and thus, be changed into a selkie Maiden. The prize came with a warning though, the Seal Lord told her she mustn’t swim too far from her sheltered bay, for if she wore the coat for too long, she would be trapped in her seal skin, and never again would she tread on land.
The fisherwoman watched the Selkie Lord depart, and with a sigh she turned and trudged through the sand to her own meager cabin. She was shocked once again, for there sitting at the table as though he had never left, was her aging Father.
Tears clouded her vision as she studied his downturned visage. She realized that she had truly missed her Father. And the relief she felt now that he was back told her just how worried she’d been. She stepped across the room and took the seat across from him.
After a while he noticed his Daughter sitting before him and smiled at her. The fisherman’s Daughter stifled a sob as she gazed into his eyes, while she gathered her courage. Finally she asked, "Father, why did you leave me?"
His reply was simple and struck the girl to her core, "Because my dear child, you were young and foolish."
His Daughter stared back at him, and whispered an accusation, "Then you knew the Selkie would come."
With a chuckle her Father replied, "Of course I knew my dear one. I wouldn’t have left you to starve. I knew that if you were able and willing to change, the seal folk would bring the change in you."
She stared at the table mutely for a moment, fighting back burning tears. Before asking, "Have I changed then Father?"
"You have my dear Daughter. You’re vanity is gone, and you’re not so cold as you were before. The seal folk would not have given you the fae gift if you had not changed to their satisfaction."
"How do you know?"
He reached for his Daughter’s hand and spoke, "Because dear one, the seal folk are our kinsmen, we are descendants of the selkie tribe that winter’s here. Our great ancestors decided to stay and guard the bay. They shed their coats and spoke with the fairy queen who granted them mortal lives, I knew the seal folk would change you dear one, because they changed me. In my youth I was no less arrogant than you were vain."
Grasping his hand between both of hers, she sobs "Thank you father, but please, don't leave me again."
He smiles and replies "I won't leave you again dear Daughter."
They live on, tending to the bay and their selkie tribesmen, until the fisherman passes away. Then the fishmonger’s Daughter continues on her own. Never forgetting the lessons her father taught her, often slipping into the bay water’s with her prized seal coat to play with the selkie pups.
Before long she finds herself the mate of a handsome selkie tribesman. Who sheds his seal coat and speaks to the fairy queen. They plant the seed of an eleven oak in their yard and bury their coats in a box beneath the roots. Promising their tribe they will always be there to tend the shore.
And so their line continues, a family of skilled fishermen and women living in the bay and tending to their selkie brethren. As the years pass more and more of the selkies are forced to choose a form and keep it as men hunt them down for their coats. As they shed their coats, the skins dry out and turn to dust.
Many years have passed, and now their family history is lost, the eleven oak has grown over the boxes, keeping the last selkie skins hidden within the heart of its roots. And the fishmongers of the selkie bay, war over the shores with the seals who were once their tribesmen.

Throm'ka, potential recruit!

You have taken a tremendous step with this submission! You will receive an 'official' response in due time, but meanwhile you may wish to ensure you've reviewed the following:
  • Rules (Remember, ignorance is no excuse in the case of rule-breaking! Don't make the Peon Overseers lash you with the whip any more than necessary!)
  • Policies (There are some policies that may be rather uncommon, so if you have not yet checked them then spare a moment to do so!)

Some extra reading that may be of use:
Soon, you should receive a reply to your submission from one of the Peon Overseers informing you of whether you are a suitable candidate for Peonship. Be patient! Just review the above information and a response will come before you know it! As an aside, I think Peon Saioko has an... er... 'interesting' ring to it, eh?
