Hello all!
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
Talking about little me.. Starting off with the hardest part. Well, I'm currently doing my last year of my bachelor of medicine, which means I'll be stuck in school for the better part of the coming decade :)
I'm relaxed, easy going, perhaps a little slothful. I greatly enjoy Roleplaying, apart from that I'm a fan of gaming, ranging from strategy to shooter. A few favourites are the total war series, star-wars the old republic (RP there!), Crusader Kings 2, Europa Universalis 4, Warhammer 40k; Dawn of War series, Wargame... and absolute all time favourite: Age of Empires (both 1 and 2, I don't like 3)

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I live in the Netherlands, under constant threat of an invading sea. Myself I'm half Dutch- half German and Dutch is my primary language. I consider myself fluent in English however, I hope my standard is acceptable to the native speakers.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
Back in the days of Warcraft 2, I could barely speak or understand english but I found the cover of the game awesome. As with Age of Empires, it started out as a massive pile of trial and error games until I understood the mechanics of the game, and then through all it's successor games I got more and more interested into the lore behind the games themselves (best exemplified by my curiousity that Warcraft III never mentioned anything about the kingdoms of Kul-Tiras, Azeroth and Stromgarde, I was mystified until I found out on the internet. I'm moving on now, because I can write pages on how I got into the game... *shy blush*

How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?:
By googling `World of Warcraft RP private server`. I found a few results (well, two), and this one clearly trumped the other one in terms of organisation, supervision, etc (I mean, the amount of work and effort that went into this site, it's impressive to say the least!). As for the question to why I looked for such a server, well. I love RP, but in general MMO-makers don't care too much about the immersion and RP possibilities (scaling, clothing, etc etc) of their RP communities, so then you have to look for people who do care.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
I'm not picky at all, I greatly enjoy all kinds of Roleplay. Immersion is vital though, good story-line, language and well thought through characters are, in my eye's, the keys to achieving this. Whether this is a short-blast of tavern-RP or a multi-day event in which an amphibious raid is launched, there are few types of RP I don't like, things like “I'm a god, kneel before me because I am awesome and I'm a Stormwind noble but I yell “DEATH TO THE KING” in his palace” cause me to go “Lolwut, that's a nope!” and will most likely cause me to ignore the very existence of the character. But I've seen the forum rules and I don't think something like the given example will ever happen.
TL: DR, You have the freedom to be the hero of your story, but don't limit someone else's freedom while enjoying yours and IC actions have IC consequences.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
Blood Elves, definitely, I love the amount of story that is written behind their race. In my view, their race is the personification (racification?) of the story on Azeroth itself as well. They are always there during every major event (in their previous races/forms) from the war of the ancients to the events of the second and third wars. Add to that the interesting twist that the magic they use is the very reason Azeroth is threatened. In many ways they are a flower that is in every bouquet made in Azeroth.
For class, I'm torn, I like both mages and rogues, ideally I'd mix the two together. I greatly enjoy the agile melee/ cloak and dagger RP Rogues give off, simply by looking at them. While at the same I love the magic, and possibilities it creates you have as a mage. Be this ICly or OOCly, while looking at a mage I directly get that vibe of “Unlikely things become possible” and start thinking of RP possibilities.

What are your expectations of this server?:
Good RP and a nice friendly community.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
The focus on RP and separation between OOC and IC. I've had my share of drama with people unable to keep the two apart, while I understand this becomes hard after a while (Characters I've invested in become precious to me too), but a lot of people can get very hurt if you are unable to keep the IC and OOC apart.

Did you know that we have a Mentor Program? It's entirely voluntary and you as a new player can sign up for it right now in your introduction! Are you interested in signing up to be assigned a Mentor? If so, say so here (Please enter at least "Yes" or "No"):
Ehhh, I did not know. But I will have to say a no for now, mainly because my OOC life is already quite full and especially with a new school year starting next September/October things might change a lot. If I get a clearer picture about how my OOC life is going to look, and I have a feeling I can handle the responsibility without having to disappoint, I might reconsider.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
This is a piece about my character in Star Wars: the old Republic. I hope you all enjoy!

Ryanna sighed, her breathing clearly visible in the freezing air. She was sitting in a corridor, pieces of metal and data-pads lying scattered around her, a small sheen of ice on every piece. She stood up, grabbing her rifle by the barrel. The long, scoped weapon had little use in the small hallways of this derelict ship, but it was better then nothing. A shot of pain went through her body, causing her to gasp out in pain as her leg gave way and forced her to her knees. She looked at her left foot, the make-shift splint and bandage around her ankle had moved a little, not providing her with the stability she had counted on it would give. “At least the bleeding stopped” she thought with a grimace of pain.

Ryanna slowly stumbled forward, taking repeated breaks for the pain in her foot to lessen. She kept this up for several agonising minutes before reaching what seemed like a large metal bulkhead. She narrowed her eye's, something was written on the metal. Taking several steps closer, she rubbed harshly over the ice with the butt of her rifle, trying to remove it and make visible what was written underneath. “Avenger” it showed.

“So that is this ship's name... ugh... I just want to get out... get off this freezing planet...”
She half crawled for a few more minutes, her reaching a room on the end of a long hallway on her knees, finding that the crawl put less strain on her ankle. She stretched upwards, opening the door she was kneeling in front of to reveal an office. A frozen corpse on the floor indicating the grim fate of the previous occupant.

Ryanna crawled into the room and saw a bed in a corner. She looked at it, “if only I could just lie down... for just a few minutes.. No... no time to lose... those pirates wont slow down.. and neither should I...”
She looked down, holding a small data-pad in her hand... “so this was so valuable to Imperial intelligence... valuable enough to sacrifice four commando teams..?” She puffed her cheeks “I have to get out of this mess first, if Imperial intelligence will want to see it at all...”

She looked back to the door, closing it and locking it. Then she turned around and slowly crawled to the console in the room, a small certificate hung above it, she gently took hold of it, wiping off the ice.

“Commander Rickson”, it stated, under a picture of a republic officer. He had kind eye's, Ryanna noted, before shaking her head.

“Get back to the real world girl... otherwise you might join his..” she thought, looking down at the corpse of the late commander. She slowly stood up and tried turning on the console, after a hopeful humm the life inside it died out again. Ryanna smashed against the console, letting out a soft groan of frustration.

“Why is this entire ship out of power?!” she moaned.
Exhausted, she turned around, slowly sinking down into a seated position, her back supported by the console, her legs bent slightly.

She took hold of a small device clipped on her belt, she pressed a button, activating it, presenting a holographic version of herself.

“Camera on, record audio and video” Ryanna said with a tired voice.

“Well... to anyone who finds this... I suppose I should make my final log entry of recent events”.
Ryanna coughed out, a painful grimace appearing on her face as she tries to move her injured leg.

“I am Ryanna Sertalin, lieutenant in the Imperial Navy, currently assigned as second in command of a recovery mission on Hoth here... but if you find this you must probably realise that we're on Hoth, if you find this, make sure that the data-disk I am wearing get's back to Imperial command, then the teams sent to retrieve it wouldn't have died in vain. If the data disk is not on me, search the local pirate camps... they have killed the teams sent to retrieve it and have stalked me for the past hours”

Ryanna let out a deep sigh... how could it all go so wrong so fast... she'd been running for hours now, they were slowly closing in on her. Eight-teen hours ago she was still in bed, warm, safe and terribly unaware of what was in store for her.

She let out a deep sigh, going over the events in her mind that lead her to this point.

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, kudos on this site. It's professional and it's clear a lot of effort and work went into this.

Throm'ka, potential recruit!

You have taken a tremendous step with this submission! You will receive an 'official' response in due time, but meanwhile you may wish to ensure you've reviewed the following:
  • Rules (Remember, ignorance is no excuse in the case of rule-breaking! Don't make the Peon Overseers lash you with the whip any more than necessary!)
  • Policies (There are some policies that may be rather uncommon, so if you have not yet checked them then spare a moment to do so!)

Some extra reading that may be of use:
Soon, you should receive a reply to your submission from one of the Peon Overseers informing you of whether you are a suitable candidate for Peonship. Be patient! Just review the above information and a response will come before you know it! As an aside, I think Peon Dikkerodevis has an... er... 'interesting' ring to it, eh?

Hi Dikkerodevis!

I'm JVNemesis, a GM here, and it's my pleasure to welcome you to CotH! Don't worry about your english. I'm sure you'll be just fine. Interesting choice of games! @Rowgen and I could tell you a thing or two about Dawn of War, I'm sure...
I also played SWTOR briefly, but I just couldn't stay interested in the game itself long enough to hang around to RP.

If you haven’t already, please do make sure to double-check the rules and policies so you’re for sure familiar to the server’s expectations! Always good to know what you're signing up for. There are also a lot of helpful articles and guides for you to read up on in case there's that one little lore piece that keeps bugging you, or you're not quite sure about X race's history. The wiki also contains helpful tips for making a character and for when you’re writing your first profile, if you need the hand.
Also, perhaps the most important part: don’t forget to make an account on the server, so you can actually log in! You can find that here.

When you get your account created, make sure to /join Chat and /join Barrens in-game, as that's where a lot of the OOC chatter between players occurs! Also, if you ever have a question about anything, don't hesitate to PM myself, or anyone with a purple or bright green name. We're here to help!

Enjoy your stay!

I spot a new Dutchie! Ahoy, man. Feel free to poke me when you get in game if you ever need any help!
I will not be forgotten. This is my time to shine. I've got the scars to prove it. Only the strong survive. I'm not afraid of dying. Everyone has their time. Life never favored weakness.

Welcome to the pride!
