Can't launch cataclysm

I press the WoW.exe with our realmlist in, or any realmlist for that matter, and it says
Cannot stream archived data, please check internet connection.

1) I would recommend to copy the folder somewhere else and not leave it in your torrent folder
1a) If you decide to leave it there, ensure Vuze is not running
2) Right-click the WoW folder itself, go to Properties, and ensure that "Read-only" is unchecked. If it is, uncheck it and click Apply

Ok so I move it out of Vuze folders and unchecked read me. (Yes I pressed apply trust me on that), but it still didnt work. I went back to see if it was still on Read Me, and it was. I thought I was crazy so I did it again, pressed apply. And it keeps resetting when I try to launch it.

Another thing, the very first time I tried to open it I got this error but I guess I missed it, it kept a log though.

I got this error the first time I tried to launch with the original Exe it came with, the Eternal-WoW.Exe (I'm guessing this was a exe for a certain server that was being advertised with the torrent.) So I went and grabbed a proper Wow.exe after that and yeah gg. Got the error I mentioned in the first post. I figured switching it out wasn't important but it is, and I dont know how to fix this. Idk who the idiot was who put the custom exe in there anyway without telling me in the torrent description.

This application has encountered a critical error:

The system cannot find the file specified.

List of running WoW processes:

Process: C:\Users\Michael\Documents\Vuze Downloads\World of Warcraft 434\Eternal-Wow.exe; pid: 3532

Keep in the mind this is the FIRST error I got before switching the exe file, then I got the internect connection error thing.

Now, where did you move it to? I've experienced issues myself in which I stuck it in what it deemed "system files" and will keep write-protecting it despite my unchecking the box. Try moving it to My Documents or something and see if that makes it happy.

Also, do you get the error message you posted after running the WoW.exe you found? Because it looks like, for whatever reason, it still thinks your client is in the Vuse folder.

After you've moved the client folder to somewhere the computer can't possibly consider a program file, try running the wow.exe that came with the torrent.

Also, are you using Windows 8?

I said somewhere that Error was before I posted the original message, so I still had it in my Vuse folder before I got that error. And yes I'm running windows 8.

By the way

It seems when I run the new Exe i get the internet connection error, and when I run the old one it gives me the second error I posted. If that helps.

It knows where the file is but it still re-checks Read Me.

Sorry, for some reason, my Tapatalk has been having a problem with randomly excluding random portions of posts. Only part of your post shows up on my device right now; I'm looking at it both there and on my computer for comparison. :P

But yeah, I just got a Windows 8 and was having similar issues. I don't know what else to tell you, though; my problems (mostly) resolved when I moved the file to the root C:/ folder. Still getting odd performance issues, (on a computer that's getting great FPS on Skyrim at medium/high settings) but it runs.

I don't know how else to help, unfortunately. :/
