Liam's Rest

A small island located close to the city of Stormwind, the island was once owned by House Kesel, a small noble family that unfortunately never grew more powerful despite the many years as part of the House of Nobles due to bad luck. The island, formerly known as Kesel's Reach (or Kesel's Folly, as the head of the House paid too much for it without checking if it would be worth more), was a drain to the coffers of House Kesel, and so they wished to remove themselves from the burden as quick as possible. Hearing of the Gilneans rejoining the Alliance and having lost their home on Gilneas, House Kesel saw what seemed like a way to help themselves gain allies and get rid of the awful island. It was given to the Gilneans as a gift, with House Kesel offering a few of their dedicated builders to make the place seem more like home. Of course, House Kesel seems to be cursed to never find fortune, and the Gilneans (and Stormwind builders) on the island soon found profit on the island through mining, and the Harvest Witches made the once useless rock green with life (and crops). Fortunately for House Kesel, the Gilneans quickly made a trade alliance when them so that the house and the refugees could profit, as the Gilneans wanted to thank their new friends in House Kesel. Many months of construction and work later, the island now looks like a little Gilneas, and serves as a home for those homesick for their land and not wanting to living in Darnassus.

Where is this place?

Liam's Rest is a village located on an island formerly known as Kesel's Reach close to Stormwind City, where it can be reached via a short boat ride from Stormwind Harbor. Ships frequently move to and from Stormwind and Liam's Rest thanks to a healthy trade relationship. Do not worry about paying for passage if you're a citizen of Gilneas, as the island will cover the cost for you so that you can "come home". For the smart (and OOC) traveler, there is always the OOC Portal. Just click on the portal and go to RP Locations and you'll want the first option that says RP locations requiting GOB patch.

Will I need the custom patch?

Many Gilneas objects cannot be spawned without the custom patch. As the island has unique Gilneas spawns like houses, flags, and fountains, the custom patch is required to visit the island, meaning those with a Mac are, unfortunately, out of luck. I apologize, but you Mac-using Gilneans cannot return home just yet.

What does this place offer me?

The village of Liam's Rest is small, but there are plenty of homes for one to use, all of them in the Gilneas style. For Gilneas/Worgen players, it's a little slice of home, without having to visit the Ruins of Gilneas to get a taste of it. There is also an inn and tents for use if you're visiting or just a refugee not lucky enough to own a home just yet. There's a small training ground on the western/north-western end of the island if you wish to train your sword-arm or fire a (provided) rifle at a target. There are human-ish dummies there that have been enchanted to withstand magical attacks, for mages that need to practice their spells. Please use those, as the Gilnean who built the training ground is quite pleased by his work. There is also a memorial by the stables with the names of those who did not receive a cure for their savage mind and those lost in the war against the Forsaken. If you don't see the name of a relative or friend that was lost in the war, please inform the mayor and they will make sure the name is added quickly. There's plenty of space, after all.

Use it, it's awesome. Use more custom spawned locations, they're there. Use 'em.

This one is awesome, as is the other one. USE 'EM.
Feedback Thread.

Common Sense; Questionable, still there.

This is a custom location using the GOB patch, which has its own section on the OOC portal. I included instructions on getting there in the post.

I mean the subforum! It deserves a big, orange Cataclysm icon next to the title. And also way higher visibility than it gets right now, in the obviously lame Mathias blog, which nobody reads.
