Gone Home (and all the little details)
#1
Kind of late with this but lately I picked up a few games and among them was Gone Home. It was a really nice game but it made me nostalgic as a "period piece" that tried to emulate a home in 1995.

There were a lot of details in it that really threw me back to my childhood like the Lisa Frank folders, the glow in the dark stars on the ceiling, the SNES and all that. They also had a ton of VHS tapes and movie tickets for things like Pulp Fiction and the X-Files. There's actually a lot of attention to detail.

There's also a lot of note passing around, which is a thing I did with my friend. We wrote back and forth as a proto "text-messaging" sort of deal. I really miss those days now. Did anyone else try and enjoy this game? It's short but I highly recommend it. I also think it's a very good way to unwind. I'm not going to give any spoilers but I thought things were going to go much worse than they actually did. :o

Played it. Didn't like it. Won't post reasons why in this thread, because I don't want to start a debate about it. Would suggest that anyone that is thinking of buying it should wait until there's a sale.

I really, really loved Gone Home. It plucked chords that many other games didn't even reach. It was an experience I'm unlikely to forget anytime soon.

Good stuff. Hit very close to home. Reminded me preeeetty strongly of things that I have equally strong memories of.

It is admittedly a very short game (I think about 3 hours even if you're stuck?) so if you are one of those types I would also recommend getting it on sale.

I've been really wanting to play this, but every time I run the game it crashes to desktop. That, or it lags out while loading. I've googled and browsed the forums, and it seems like I've been unable to find a solution. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game 3 different times, with 3 different drivers, and it still dun werk.

From what I've heard of the game, it'd be right up my alley. Though I ain't one for 90's nostalgia. Still, I loved the hell out of The Stanley Parable. So yeah, I deeeefinitely wanna play this.

Hmm. I wonder why that happens? I notice that I am laggy when I play the game. I have an integrated video card. So I run it on a small screen and turn down what I can. The settings never seem to stick though. D:

Also it's not a graphically intensive game, I just have a bad video card.
