Bell's Introduction
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player: I have played World of Warcraft since Vanilla, though I never actually got past level 34 or so until Wrath of the Lich King where I had my first ever level capped character. Since then I have gotten up to 20+ level capped characters, currently having at least one level 90 of every class. I did however, stop playing when ArcheAge was officially released for NA, as I found the game far more appealing until Warlords of Draenor is released. Since playing both ArcheAge and the Warlord beta however, I am not so sure I will be returning to retail any time soon.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?: United states, English.

How did you get into Warcraft?: An old friend that I no longer am in contact with brought it up in class one day back in fourth grade. He was talking about how his brother played it a lot, and he got his character drunk and was dancing on tables in Goldshire and got attacked by Horde. He spoke as if I should know what he was talking about, and so I pretended I did. Of course, I soon enough pointed out that I didn't know anything about World of Warcraft, and had in fact never heard of it. The next day he brought me a trial key, and we started playing together. Since then I haven't stopped playing, even though he did and both him and his brother are no longer a part of my life.

How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?: I have known about the server for a good long while now, though I don't recall what it was that lead me here in the first place. Nothing really stuck out as special, and I guess that's what drew me in. All the other servers try to do things like custom built cities, custom classes, or letting everyone change their character model into whatever they want. I know this server does custom cities and you can RP as special classes in certain situations, but the other servers just took it too far, trying to make their own cities that never existed in lore, from underwater Gnome/Goblin towns to flying Zeppelin cities. I like how this server doesn't try to take things too far away from the original lore.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?: All kinds, though I do have a little trouble getting into combat and social settings. In combat I am fine as long as it is based on typing skills, but when it comes down to rolls, I have flat out left events before because I was sick of not getting a single winning roll, even though my character was supposed to be very skilled and couldn't even manage to land a hit on a ghoul. In social events, I tend to sit there silently until someone interacts with me first, never having been one to approach others for a scene.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?: My favorite race would have to be paladin, simply because they are easiest to relate to and picture myself as the character, and my favorite class is paladin because I enjoy playing the 'knight in shining armor' wielding a sword and shield. But I also like the 'justice' and 'honor' mindsets that are tied in with a paladin, whereas warriors are most often seen as bloodthirsty berserkers. I do sometimes however play warriors as knights.

What are your expectations of this server?: I'm not sure. I try not to have many expectations when I try new things as most often I am disappointed from building up too good of a picture for what I will find. Even finding something to be a little less great than I expect can be a bummer to me, so I try not to predetermine what I will gain from doing something.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?: No godmodding. I am tired of playing with people who control other people's characters, never take a hit because their character is so skilled, and know things they shouldn't. I have also grown tired of the type of character that is so skilled and knows how to do just about everything in the world, and is very openly unimpressed by every little thing others do, and makes it a point to let them know.

Did you know that we have a Mentor Program? It's entirely voluntary and you as a new player can sign up for it right now in your introduction! Are you interested in signing up to be assigned a Mentor? If so, say so here (Please enter at least "Yes" or "No"): Yes? Maybe? I'm not entirely sure. I suppose it would depend on who my mentor is to be.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!: This is copied from a RP with my other half. This is the initial setup for the RP to start. If I need to type out something new rather than copying one of my other posts, I can do that.

Darkness. Why can't she remember anything but darkness? Lights flash in the woman's face, but everything before this moment... is darkness. She does't know where she is, why she's here, or even... where she came from. Even who she is is a blur to her, like it's there but she just, can't remember how to remember, how to call that memory out. Her hands slide along a smooth metal, until her fingers wrap firmly around a bar and pull. With a hiss, the wall in front of her reveals itself as a door, and is sent flying through the air, landing a good distance away. Her hands move, just as last time, without her even thinking about it. She takes some things with her, but doesn't immediately think of what they are, simply putting them in what she somehow knows are their places on her body. Something clipping onto her back, another thing hooking onto her waist. Soon enough, she's stepping out.

All around her are massive buildings, towering above her like she's in a perfectly cut canyon. Her heels crush into bits of glass, grinding it into fine powder. She instinctively looks up, to see if the glass fell from above. She's met with the sight of some sort of glass ceiling, miles above her. She can't see much more of it, but she can tell there seems to be a hole in it, and not a naturally built one. She must have broke through it in, whatever she came from. Turning to answer the new question of what it is she fell in, she sees a large pod made of a flawless white metal. On the side in orange is painted "01"

Is that her? Is she 01 or is that just the pod? For now it feels right, 01. She decides to go by that. "I am Zero One." Something blinks in her mind, and without realizing it she responds to her own words. "Zero One active in combat area." She pauses for a moment, before nodding and confirming her thoughts in her mind. 'Yes, I am Zero One. This is a combat area... I, am in danger here..." Yet she feels alone. Like something is missing, or someone... or both.

She stares at her pod for a moment longer, and then steps inside to search again. Had she forgotten something before leaving the pod? Nothing too obvious was here, and yet still she felt it. The emptiness. Finally she gives up on the pod, and turns to look around at her surroundings. She knows what has to be done, staring up at the glass ceiling above. She has to get higher, and see where she is. So she heads into one of the buildings, and starts to climb, only now realizing that this place must be the home to someone, and yet, there is nobody here. Thinking back, she realizes there was nobody outside either, and many strange things she felt were familiar, machines for transportation that were... abandoned.

Are they gone because of her? Or, is she here because they are gone? Perhaps the answers are on top of the building, or maybe she'll find nothing... but what does she have if not hope?

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?: Not that I can think of.

Throm'ka, potential recruit!

You have taken a tremendous step with this submission! You will receive an 'official' response in due time, but meanwhile you may wish to ensure you've reviewed the following:
  • Rules (Remember, ignorance is no excuse in the case of rule-breaking! Don't make the Peon Overseers lash you with the whip any more than necessary!)
  • Policies (There are some policies that may be rather uncommon, so if you have not yet checked them then spare a moment to do so!)

Some extra reading that may be of use:
Soon, you should receive a reply to your submission from one of the Peon Overseers informing you of whether you are a suitable candidate for Peonship. Be patient! Just review the above information and a response will come before you know it! As an aside, I think Peon Bell has an... er... 'interesting' ring to it, eh?

Hello there, Bell! Welcome to Conquest of the Horde!

I definitely agree that too much custom content can be a bit of a turn-off. We have some custom-made settlements or roleplay locations that are made on demand (to act as estates of noble families or just to cater to certain races that don't have much in terms of locations in the game) and a slightly more loose system of liberal definition of existing classes with some available alternatives to base classes (taking inspiration from the RPG and previous Warcraft games), but beyond that... We're trying to take it slow, just dipping our toes in the sea of custom lore lately. :) Check out the discussions in Custom Lore Ideas under the Workshop!

Do you have Skype? If so, you should check out this thread! Feel free to add my Skype (loxmardin) as well, if you want to chat, ask questions or have me add you to the official CotH Skype Group, manually!

Remember to register your in-game account in the Account Management page with the exact information you registered your forum name under. Also, take a look at this announcement about the .LFRP command! It's totally useful!

As per standard approval procedure, I'm going to link you to a few nice places that it certainly doesn't hurt if you double-check and make yourself extra familiar with. These are the Rules and Policies, as well as the FAQs. They've got a bunch of vital information in them. Don't forget to "/join Chat" for general chatter, "/join Barrens" for general randomness and more spammy chatter in-game!

Without further ado, welcome to the server and I hope we'll see you around!

Happy RPing!

Love,
Overseer Loxmardin
