First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
I'm 22, been doing tabletop/online rp for probably the majority of my life now, computer science major, and do programming as a living. Most of my online RP has been on byond which has been sorta a mixed bag but... you take rp where you can get it.
What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
The USA, and I speak English primarily.
How did you get into Warcraft?:
When I was eight, played Warcraft 2 to death and then immediately jumped on 3 when it came out.
How did you find us? Did anything in particular draw you to the server?:
I got referred by Cat.
What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
Hmmm, I'm pretty flexible. I am used to tabletop stuff, and generally like things that have a plot with an arc. Setting-wise high and low fantasy, sci-fi, and modern supernatural stuff are my general favourites. Role-wise I'm pretty much fine with anything, although my latest preference has been playing someone who is an powerless or weak compared to others and trying to overcome that.
What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
Favorite? I'd go with Goblins, because there is something about inventor types in fantasy settings that appeals to me. Mechanically speaking, I always like being squishy glass cannon ranged types, so that'd probably be a hunter or mage, and then roleplay-wise I've liked playing the researcher-type so that'd push me firmly into the mage territory.
What are your expectations of this server?:
Get a chance for some fun roleplay, and maybe actually have a character whose character arc gets finished.
Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
The no godmodding/metagaming rule. Have it happen to you a few times, and you seriously get sick of it. Usually I like to roleplay to get an interesting story going, and those two things is sorta the antithesis of that. There isn't much of a story if someone just auto-knows everything/is immune to everything.
Did you know that we have a Mentor Program? It's entirely voluntary and you as a new player can sign up for it right now in your introduction! Are you interested in signing up to be assigned a Mentor? If so, say so here (Please enter at least "Yes" or "No"):
Nope, I was pretty unaware of this. It'd be pretty great to have someone explain the style of RP for this server. Don't completely know what I am going to play at the moment though, since I'm joining with a few friends so might change up based on what they want.
Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
A most curious reaction.
The mage looked down his long hooked nose, peering inquisitively at the squirming tendril on his petri dish. The tendril, in return, peered right back at him — dozens of eyes blinking asynchronously — before squirming even more fiercely.
He hadn't really be sure what to expect, when he had asked his assistants to bring back research material on their little vacation. Honestly, he'd really meant it as a joke. Yet, two weeks later they returned with what looked like the remainder of a tentacle from a colossal squid.
The dwarf wasn't particularly pleased either by the amused glint in Nikalus's eyes either, when he'd dropped the dismembered limb right on top of his table and said in that smug tone "Research materials, jes like ye asked fer boss!" Of course though at that point the short mage had really sort of forfeited his right to complain, given he really should have known better than to make that sort of request.
Rough hands stroked his luxurious red beard as the dwarf thought of what to try out now. The limb was supposed to be dead, what with it being all unattached to whatever the thing's body had been. A simple current through it shouldn't have really done anything other than cause a few spasms but... now the tendril was glaring at him. Yes, a curious reaction indeed.
A sigh escaped his lips, as he shook his head and began to move his equipment. The dwarfish mage Lucian hadn't ever really encountered something like this before. And the tales his assistant had spun for him didn't offer much help. Oh, it was a gradiose story, a fishing boat suddenly attacked by a kraken! No, twenty krakens! Krakens being ridden by pirates, that then kidnapped Nikalus and took him to their hidden underwater base. Honestly by that point Lucian had already tuned him out, given the only thing that probably wasn't a lie was the fact he had been on a fishing boat.
No, this dwarf was a man of SCIENCE. And magic. Look, the two aren't mutually exclusive okay? And as a man of science (and magic) it was his duty to investigate this thing and determine the truth, not get pulled into flights of fancy.
After all, who could possibly believe that rubbish about old gods burried in the depths of the ocean?
Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
Nothing comes to mind.
