Technically the blood elves did hold an extended defense against Garithos' forces in order to get all their refugees through the portal, but the bonus mission in TFT basically just made it so that it wasn't a long, boring drawl of holding off a couple of footmen and riflemen at certain time intervals. Instead, you got an exciting tower defense level, and it wasn't even completely necessary, it was just a side explanation for those of us that might've gone 'wait a minute here, how did they get to Outland unnoticed?'

I'll also note, if I remember correctly, that we do not allow past interactions with Pandaren in profiles. So, don't be getting any ideas.

Take it with a grain of salt. There's a portal to Outland, there's Garithos trying to rekt the blood elves/naga, and there may or may not have been a legion of pandas and centaur involved.
