So this poped into my head while I was laying down to sleep

Don't griffins eat horses? In a lot of lore they do and Im not sure if they do in the wow setting. And if they do then wouldn't that mean there's a stabling place in human/dwarven towns for large carnivores like griffs? What im going at is, A Griff is a much more dangerous creature than a night saber because a griff eats the same things but can fly and is probably more intelligent as it is a bird brain and not a cat brain. ( birds are smarter than cats) which would mean that taking your eye off of it would mean its more likely to eat a horse than a saber would and get away with it.

Humans who have history with these large carnivores would probably not freak out so much when a saber shows up seeing them as cut from the same mold. So maybe by chance we are messing up and maybe even damaging lore by saying humans would freek out by the sight of these large cats when they have giant eagle cats right down the road, gaint eagle cats that are used for public transportation and war mounts.

If my calculations are correct, then the giant Eagles shouldn't be that much of a threat. This isn't just a generic fantasy. This is Warcraft.. Humans and Dwarves would most likely have tamed the massive beasts to use them as transportation. In doing so, they would've changed their diet from ickle ponies, to Defias and rats (Just a guess here) or perhaps the Elwynn wolves.

Could that not work the other way though? As you said, '...not generic fantasy. This is Warcraft.' With that logic couldn't people have also taught the sabers to feed on different things? And even if they didn't eat horses or feel the need to munch on a person, how does that keep them from violently killing the people when they get the urge? A tiger at the zoo may eat steak but there are still moments when they attack the keeper.

Hmm.. good point there RiffRaff.. Perhaps we can just say "in game mechanics" and leave it at that..

Well my experience from large carnivores is that they cannot be fully tamed. And what I see supports that. A man had tigers who were about 3rd for 4th generation zoo pets that did tricks. When these tigers saw horses or cows it took 3 to 4 people holding the tiger down as they shouted for the guy leading the cow's or horses to hurry the animals along before the tiger gets free. And here is the shocker, of all the cats in the world, the house cat is the most deadly. Yes, mister snuggle butt over there who is completely tamed kills for fun before going to get kibble.

Now the moon saber is not second or 3rd generation, but is a creature that has lived though the ages with the night elves like the house cat. If they are cat brained then woe unto everyone around them, this cat will most likely kill on a full belly because he hasn't killed anything in a hour. But if the saber is calm enough to ride then I think it would be easier to compare them to a dog should they be so tamed that they are taught to supress the urge to pounce.

So while I don't think you could teach the large cat to eat other things, and maybe not even the griff for being part lion, I was thinking that keeping these creatures having a full belly would be one of the first steps to keeping it from attacking. Perhaps in the human stable's of large carnivores they keep feeding the beasts till they reject food.

But I stray from my point. With the Griff and the saber so much alike. Both being large, powerful and extremely dangerous carnivores, humans may be a little uneasy at first sight of a saber but with griffins flying over where your children play, how uneasy could you be over some one riding a giant house cat? Epically if a night elf plays with the saber accordingly.
