Alright, Ive had a few things on my mind, and seriously, if this gets me banned, then oh well.

First of all. Expectations on this server are great. But Im beginning to wonder if they're too high to really do anything. I mean, -sure- you can be level one and RP just fine, but its funner if your level 80 and Rping, not having to wait for weeks on in for someone to type out a one sentence vouch. I mean, seriously! Wouldn't you rather be level 80, and a bunch of cool gear on your back? Instead of looking like an idiot or having to grind constantly to get a simple piece of armor, which probly wouldnt drop anyways? Now, I know, "Oh, your full of yourself, RPing is easy! EASY to get vouches" Its not! Really! From my perspective, its extreamly hard! People on this server think RP should be their way, the way -they- want it. Well, sorry! Everyones different, thats life.

A second thing. Rping can be hard to get into here, I was ignored when I tried to RP until I finally got up close and emote'd. "Oh, whatever, your just in a pissy mood." Yeah, damn right I am! I wanna be level 80 and RP with cool gear. Not run around in bad looking chainmail and get into RP fight because everyone thinks. "Oh, he's just wearing chainmail, Ill just stab him and Ill win." Sure. That -is- a valid point that chainmail doesnt make you invincible, no armor does, but atleast its funner to RP in when you've got to down some warrior or paladin in full plate, or a hunter in several layers of chain or leather, whatever.

With the vouches, doesnt one seem OK? I mean, I know your wanting feedback from a few different people, but seriously. It seems a little over the top. If youve got a person who did their introduction, got their vouches, and their profile is passed, wouldent that be good? I think, if you lightened up a little bit, youd have alot more people coming in and staying in the server, not floating along "Oh look, RP server, lets give it a go" and leave the next day. I know you like the feedback, but still! This isent RP bootcamp, so maybe let a few people in extra, make your server look more lively with more people! Now, your probly thinking. "Oh, your wrong, this is a fun RP enviroment that's not harsh at all, and easy to do everything." But, its not! I wanna RP and have fun and be level 80, and look cool while I RP, not sit there, searching for RP, with no gear that makes you look intresting and gives some color to your character. Now again, you are saying that you can RP at level 1-49 just as easily as anyone else can, and just as well. Sure, you can, but its not that fun. I want my character to look cool, to stand out, and to draw attention and be battle-worthy, not sitting in plain chainmail, unable to run into a fight without getting the hell chopped out of you.

I had to vent off steam, if this post gets me banned? Oh well, it was nice to meet the people I did that were actually nice and informative back.

Quote:This isn't an insta-80 server

Though it acually says 70, this is one the top of the main page! You have seen this no doubt, and know what you were getting in to.

Quote:This was never meant to be a huge server

This was in an old topic. Something I remember, but don't feel like digging up. This server was never intended to have so many people, and it never will be. The GM's took a big step with the introduction system, and another one to allow visitor's to make accounts. So people can come in and see if they like it.

We -all- know how you feel, believe it or not. Grunt's just recently got the ability to use silver tokens, we just recently got Darkspear Village back. It still wasn't what it was like pre-wotlk. So before that, Peon's, Grunt's and Heroes alike had to grind for things. So we know what it's like.

RP isn't about looks, It's about having fun. I am really sad that you feel this way, I hope you find more fun and success, in whatever you do. I enjoyed roleplaying with you.

But it -is- easy, you're simply makingit hard for yourself. Firstly, you need to get off this lvl 80 thing. I was RPing with a LOT of people before I got three vouches. Armor is not needed for an interesting character, you should have an interesting character without the need of armor.

This topic isn't anything new to the server, to get an RP it takes initiative. You won't get RP or vouches just sitting in a corner hoping a level 80 is going to approach you saying "Oh you there, want a vouch!?" There is a thing call 'patience' and it is a virtue. The thing about the vouches is that it shows from multiple people that you are well enough to their standards to be a Grunt and earn the ability yourself. Just be patient and go find an RP because to contrary belief it is easy. All you have to do is approach someone, or ask in chat "Anyone wanna RP?" and if a grunt or higher enjoys it they will vouch for you, or you can -politely- ask for a vouch. Now, please, we've had enough drama posts in the past few weeks, we don't need more of them. One more topic to address: gear. How flashy you look doesn't matter in a fight, as long as it can hurt or protect, end of story, sure it adds a nice touch but before the item system update, I had a level 5 armor set on my hunter that did the job just fine, it really isn't necessary to be like "Oh look at me I'm a badass." Besides sometimes the cool looking gear isn't always the most logical in RP anyways.

Edit: One more thing. It's "More fun" not "funner".

Oye, you wont get banned for this. You're not really breaking any rules, dude, you're just complaining. You're going to get THIS a LOT, though: "You don't need level 80 gear to RP" "RP is what this servers about, not the gear" just general thoughts around that. But honestly, I know you're not trying to just say that. I know vouches are hard to come by, and if someones not RPing with you if you ask OOCly, then that's a problem (if the person is just not RPing with you for who you are/rank. No one should be doing this). Though there might be more people elsewhere, you might not want to RP with. Also, dude, it takes a real long while just to get to grunt-hood. It's worth it though-- being a Peon is all about getting to know the communty, so when you are a grunt you know all the things you need to know. So don't sweat it man, being level 1 is more fun then you'd think. And don't be afraid to level if no one's really around, just don't skip past 50. Also, not to sound harsh man, but Peons who stay here 'floating' for a while, usually eventually become grunts, and they stay for even longer. I've watched you from a visitor to just looking over your profile, man. You're doing good, you're on track, and with this it wont be long until you get your 'level 80' gear.

Edit: lul, Gwen/Nar proves my point. But it's not wrong, of course, infact it's pretty darn right. For Kael, I think he means more in the tense of good RPers staying (because some leave) other then getting massive amounts of 1337-speaking people.

Edit2: Also, lets not dogpile him. I think when he hears it the first time, he understands it.

You've only been apart of the server for four days, please hold your judgements until you get to know us better.

Vouches are not given lightly, so you must prove your worth before you receive one. I am sorry you feel this way, but privileges must be earned by proving you are REALLY here to RP not just goof off.

Indeed, though we don't intend to dogpile, we just want to give some of that feedback.

@Sourpudle. The whole server in general wasn't intended to be -this- big. Really, I havn't been here as long as Kret, Grak or Q. But when I did join. We were lucky to have nine people on at one time, and it was rare that any of them were hordies besides alliance-kissing blood elves. (( Note, I was the original. :P )). The server has come a very long way, and I hope to see it grow even further

I can understand your frustrations, Zantan - and believe me, most of everyone else here does, too!
I'm going to avoid being an echo of the sentiments of the previous posters; but I do want to impart the things that are paramount to ensure you would enjoy your time here.

When I arrived to this server at the end of January, I knew nobody here; yet I made the quickest ascension into grunthood, I received three vouches within a two-day span. If this sounds self-congratulatory, it is not - but, I want to set the cornerstone on easing your frustrations and giving you peace of mind.

Firstly, vouches.
The vouch system is put in place; because yes - this server wishes the best, of the best, of the best.
You want vouches? Be aggressive in getting them. Do not beg. Do not even once ask for them. Instead, give them a damn good reason that as to why you deserve them. Put your finest performance for all to see. Be random, be spontaneous, be aggressive, and roll with the punches. Yes, you'll get beaten up; but losing provides more depth than winning ever will - I should know, I have a character that's based solely around getting the snot beaten out of her, and coming back for more. Fight not for victory or defeat; but the enjoyment of the fight itself. Your epic gear and stats might mitigate a world-monster's attack, but ultimately; the best form of defense and attack is your writing itself. The clothes you wear are just that. Clothes.

As Tyler Durden would say: "You are not your f**king khakis."

Secondly, patience.
I'll be blunt. When I came here; I felt that the server's moderation handled things with a massive sense of bureaucracy. Imaginary paperwork and arcane rules to conveniently buy tme and utilize generic responses that are simply candy-coated ways of saying, "I'll get around to it when I feel like it." Do I fault the people in charge for this? Absolutely not. Am I incorrect in the presumption that this is how they operate? Probably. They are players too; and I think the greatest honor you can give a roleplayer, is by giving them roleplay itself. Write up a profile, go all out. There is nothing that anyone loves more than vigor in roleplay, and the incentive to come back for more.

If you feel snubbed or ignored? Brush it off. Remember that for one person that doesn't want to roleplay; there are two more that do, just around the corner.
The server is a massive stage, and we are its actors - its entertainers. We entertain one another while being entertained ourselves, and it's important for everyone to make sure the other person is having a good time! Don't be bitter, don't be resentful; and don't make it about yourself - but for everyone.

Also remember: Anyone that tries to fight with you, solely based on what stats your armor might have - isn't worth dignifying with your time anyway; because it is they which put the wrong emphasis on why a fight is made. In retail; any idiot can achieve level 80 and get phat loot; but there's maybe ten there that can immerse, impress, entertain, maintian good diction, AND do it all with style and grace.

This server, consists of those ten...and more.

Lastly. For the time that you don't find any RP; do what I do.
Use that time to improve your skills; hone your profession, work out the technical odds and ends while the curtain is closed. As it's those things that too, can provide depth and purpose to a character. I apologize if this sounded any bit convoluted, condescending, or brutal - I just think it's important to remember that in the end...in the world of Azeroth; none of us are the heroes. We are all simply the untold stories that shape the war-torn and sundered world that help shape it into what it is today.

As someone who's never cared for the vouch system, I totally understand your feelings. I imagine you came along and wanted to just kick back and get into RP without having to worry about very little mechanic-wise. While I, too, say leveling and gear isn't important for RP, the way WoW is set up, it's very understandable why one would want the basics taken care of.

But, this server isn't for everyone and that's part of their system. I'm not going to begin to speak for the managers of this server as to why they have a vouch system since, while I understand their perspective, it's one I don't fully agree with. I doubt you'll be banned for giving feedback without cursing people out like some people have done in the past, lol.

Maybe you'll change your mind and just want to hang around and not think twice about vouches? Who knows.

You good woman are my hero.

Another Tyler Durden quote: "We are the all singing, all dancing c**p of the universe."

Your character is not an epic hero of lore, no one's is. No one here can take Arthas, no one here can solo IC even RFC or VC, because of the system in place. Dude, every character, every one of them, is just another shmuck. Interesting shmucks? Hell yes. But still shmucks, so your level 80 gear that makes you stand out... not so much.

On the topic of gear. For the purpose of RP, I have on Cured Leather, a styleish black shirt, and various low level interesting looking weapons. Highest level item I own? My cloak, and it was a random drop. For combat stuff, I might throw on cured leather armor(to complete the set) and a red defias mask and maybe my guild tabard... Nothing over level 30 easily. Most of it under level 20. Oliver still looks like a badass, but more importantly I could have Oliver in a clown suit, and he would STILL BE a badass. Why? Because I RP him as, you guess it, a badass. I only have one vouch, and I'm having a great time. Would I like two(?) more vouches to get my 10 tokens and my level 80, hell yes I would, every peon would, it's like in live wow grinding for you first mount, or real life grinding that McDonald's job for your first car... it just takes time.

On the topic of vouches. I have 1 vouch and honestly, I can say I still need to learn more. Im not entirely familiar with all of the combat system. I got my first kill just today and it was organized ahead of time that I would kill this character off, between myself and the owner of this character who wanted her dead. If you have a lot of RP down time, pick up a profession, nothing flushes a character out more like a profession. Case and point, Oliver, the otherwise sneaky, evil, manipulateing, self serving, and honestly lazy jackass, is a BLACKSMITH. Why? Because his father before him was, and before his father died at Stratholme, he taught Oliver the basics, from there Oliver finds serenity mineing ore, and pleasant memories of his otherwise troubled and harsh past in shaping metal into useful objects... plus the coin he picks up from it pays the bills.

So chill my brother, and let the RP roll. If there is no RP that interests you, think of a new character, grind a profession, own up some lowbie mobs for much needed gold to buy vendor gear, learn a new weapon... any myriad of other possibilies, time wasters, and other such things. A tip, join a guild if you can, it gives you a purpose. My one and only vouch came from my guild leader, and because he had such exposure to me and my character.
Bonk.

To me, it sounds like some of the players are picking on people again, which is never cool. Noone should make fun of you, or say "Gee, that's what your wearing, so it's easy for me to kill you!".

People do get pretty wrapped in gear, which I beleive was why these rules were put into place. It was to make sure, that to be here, that your really had to want to be here, by showing a bit of effort.

Now, I know you probably have. I know it seems to suck to have to wait... as there is a lack of GMs at the moment, but I can say this... it's been this way every since I've joined.

That's not saying it couldn't change. What it is saying, is that unless the GMs feel there is a better solution to... well, get what they are trying to accomplish as -well- as catering to the players, they probably won't do it.

Right now, what is offered, is the Shattarspear area with vendors, tokens, and money. More will certainly be added once things are stable, as CoTH -loves- it's custom content. After all, it is the icing to the non-lie delicious cake.

If more is offered, awesome. If not... then maybe you are right. This might not be the place for you, or a lot of other people. In which case, I hope that you do find a place to suit you better.

And please, don't read this in an angry tone of voice. People miss-read me a -lot-.
