Are you sure you unchecked the two boxes because it fixed it for me.... I'll post the bug on the developers forum and see if can help.

Unchecking the two boxes worked fine for me but then I was only on for about half an hour last night

Since logging off that night, I haven't had the issue pop up. Maybe that's all that was required.
We'll see if it starts happening again.

If you guys are talking about the Reputation thing (Friendly, etc.) overlapping the little icon on people's portraits, the way to get rid of the Reputation thing would be to go to your reputation tab and go to options, then you should see a list of things, with check boxes and all, and one should be.. I think "Show Reputation" or something like that. I'm at work now, so I can't check, sorry. :/

Hit "K" to bring up the reputation tab. Then, click the button up top that says "Options".
Uncheck "Show targets reputation."

It should look something like this.
