Question about days, months and years
#1
This may seem silly, but... Are the names of days, months, and the year number just taken from the current time in our world? Or do they have special names that we don't know of? I am sure I know the answer to the names of days, but my bigger question is what year is it in WoW? Would it be something like 32 sort of "after the first war" (like our AD) or would it be 624 as said on the unofficial timeline? Are months still January, February, March, etc? I'm just mostly confused and was hoping someone could clear it up for me. I've played other games with a completely different set of names for days, months, and years and it's something that's always perplexed me. Thanks in advance. :)

We still use real names for the days and months. Though, I'm unsure anyone has really ever ICly mentioned what year something might have happened as 25 OI Or something. Usually people just say "Ten years ago."

As for 624, I have no idea where you got that. The unofficial timeline still says 32.

"First War

0 (Year 592 by the King's Calendar)"

Since by the official timeline it is 32 years after that, I just added 32 years to 592. It is on the timeline right under where it says the First War.

Huh, never noticed that. If there was any more to support it I'd say that is the actual year number used IC.

Sounds cooler too.

"Twas the year six hundred and twenty four by the king's calendar." LOL

Hehe, this is how I feel too. It would be nice to use "Year suchandsuch" instead of always "x number of years ago".
I vote we just start all using the King's Calendar system. LOL Sounds all fancy like Mikain says. :P

I think the old king's calendar system no longer exists. I think the year 0 for when the first orc came into Azeroth set the date for a new calendar system. I mean, nobody even knows what happened in -592 when the calendar started, so why bother with it? =P The king's calendar would also mean bugger all for goblins, night elves, orcs, naga, walnuts and pies, so why would they follow the system?

The only ones who might still use the system are super oldschool humans.

Oh, poo. I was going to look forward to spouting off, "In the year 348, ...."
Thanks for clearing it up for me, though. LOL
