Alair's Alarmingly Absent-Minded Accost!
#1
Because I'm one of those people, I'm gonna just copy/paste the template. Sorry, it just makes this whole process easier for me (I suck at open-ended questions and introductions.

First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:

Hey, I'm Alair, and I've been playing vidya games for about 17-18 years. I started with an NES when I was 2-3, but the first console I REALLY used obsessively was my Sega Genesis. I've been playing Tabletop RPGs since early 2000, I started with D&D 3.0 and have since learned lots of systems from as mainstream as World of Darkness to as homebrew as Avatar d20, and have also started designing my own systems. I've been doing freeform RP since I was 8, I guarantee, that if I had saved any of my early stuff, I'd have gouged my eyes out by now. I'm a slow-typer and make typos often. If I do with you, I'm sorry. Sometimes I'll catch it, sometimes I won't. I started WoW on Zul'Jin (en-US), and transferred once to Sisters of Elune (my favorite RP server), and back (I missed my Normal friends). I believe in making friends and treating others with respect. I'm fairly xenophobic, I get nervous in new groups, and in the beginning you might only hear me in OOC channels piping up to say hello, or agree/disagree on some subject and why (I like debates, but not flame wars or trolls). I hope to see you all in-game.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:

I'm from America and speak English primarily.

How did you get into Warcraft?:

I started with WarCraft II, it was my first real PC game, and I loved it. I nerd-gasmed when WoW was announced, but didn't start playing it until a year after release.

What made you seek our server over others?:

I just did a Google search for RP Private Servers, thinking that none existed, but then I found you guys. I don't know anyone here, but I hope to get to know you all soon.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:

I enjoy lots of different kinds, I think just getting together with a group of friends and roleplaying a guild would be fun.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:

I love Forsaken, their looks, their lore, their lands, the Royal Apothecary Society, I like it all. I also love playing priests, because I'm a decent priest player. I love healing in a lot of games, and I don't usually let people die.

What are your expectations of this server?:

RP and friends.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:

I like the idea that IC actions have IC consequences. Like the example given of mentioning an attack near a guard, and lo and behold; there's more security, well, crap! OR the jail time (I'm not sure how that'd work, but it sounds interesting). Just things I've never really seen done before.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action.

--------------------------
Ruri stood in the middle of the semi-crowded street, yet again being almost knocked over by someone who just didn't see her. Being three feet tall had its difficulties.
“Why can't people watch where the hell they're going?” she muttered to herself.
She attempted to find her way around, without knowing where she was. Bad plan. She managed to get lost, it being the first time in a real city.
Just great, she thought, now I can't even find the Tavern, let alone work.
She stopped a few people, asking for directions. Thankfully, they knew where the tavern was. But unfortunately, they were really bad at giving directions. At least in the dialect of the “Common” language that Ruri knew, which was rather, as she had never left her village before except for a few times to learn some “life lessons”. I guess that really came in handy, she could find her way around and survive in forests, mountains, and grasslands, but not a stupid, small city like this one.
In any case, she found the Tavern. It didn't look too shabby. It didn't look like it was going to be first-class, but it wasn't too shabby.
Upon entrance, it seemed like a friendly place, there wasn't TOO much smoke, the place was clean, well-lit, and the patrons didn't look too rough, except for the two half-orcs at the bar. Yeah, they don't look like the type you want to mess with. But what she really came for…
Aha, the job postings. Let's see… Butcher, no. Blacksmith's Apprentice, no. Something temporary, and suitable for an adventurer, gods! After a few minutes of looking through the surprisingly numerous pages of jobs that needed doing, she found one. Perfect,,. and they leave tomorrow morning, I'll go see them right away,
She tore the page off the wall it was nailed to (luckily it was low on the wall) and went off to find the contact listed. It was perfect, a job as a bodyguard? And the best part was the caravan that she'd protect would be traveling to Sylbem, the capital city of the “Holy Empire” of Khitahn. She could definitely find some way to get her name out from there.
After almost getting lost again, and asking around the area specified on the parchment of the job posting, she found the person who was in charge of hiring guards for the caravan.
“Greetings,” she said, placing the paper up on the table in front of him, “I'd like to talk to you about this…”
-----------------------------

That was only the first small section of a story I'm writing. I have more of it, but I don't wanna swamp you in too much text. Plus, it's a secret.

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:

I like playing both Alliance and Horde, does this server offer both as an option, or is there something I can do to play both if there isn't? (2 accounts, something else?)

Hope to hear from you soon!

First of, don't worry. I think we all have copy/pasted the profile template into ours. :D At least, I did. . . and half of the server.

Answering your questions! You can play both factions on one account. Most of us play both Horde and Alliance, so there is no need to worry about that.

Don't be afraid to ask questions and. . .

Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome!

!-- WARNING - WoW Technical talk ahead. This is all crunch and OOC terminology--!
Spoiler:
I have to say, the only thing I've come across so far that I'm questioning is the two-life rule. I mean-- If I'm trying to level solo as a holy priest, I'm not always gonna come out of the dark iron dwarf stronghold alive. Or even as a level 20 tank in Deadmines with a few people, I'm not always gonna manage to stay alive, either through my fault or the healer's. I dunno, that seems a little... harsh... To say "Well, you wiped in The Occulus at level 80, so you all need to reroll."

Even at 5-times XP, a lot of work goes into level 80, or even 60. Are there methods in place of protecting this besiodes begging the GMs for a resurrection here on the forums? I LOVE instancing, it's, in my opinion, what sets WoW apart form the rest of the games, I don't love losing all my progress because of a bad pull, though.

PvE Combat Deaths do not count to your life-limit. Only being killed by another player or during RP (such as roll fights against monsters) count. :D
