Greetings, I'm Ocylith

First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
Hello, my name is Matthew. I'm an 18-year-old who is fresh out of high school. I'm currently planning on majoring in chemistry in hopes of starting a career in forensic science, but that's not important right now. I would be lying to you if I said anything except "I am an avid gamer". I can frequently be seen playing Team Fortress 2 on Steam. When I'm not sappin' sentries or killing those filthy jar men, I'm probably playing some odd title on the Xbox 360.

As far as roleplaying goes, I've been doing it for 6 years. It started on the wonderful table-top game "Dungeons and Dragons". About 4 years ago, I discovered the wondrous roleplaying environment known as "World of Warcraft". I'm going to save that story for the appropriate section, though.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I hail from the great country of the United States of America! English happens to be my only language.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
About 4 years ago, a good friend of mine pointed me in the direction of "MMO Gaming". Well, naturally I went to see what games people liked and World of Warcraft seemed to be the best bet. I started out on a trial account, playing both PVP and RP servers. I loved the setting of the game. I also loved all of the options you could use to make it seem real. Unfortunately, I couldn't shell out the money to play the game. Finally, I joined up on a roleplaying private server and that's when I actually got into World of Warcraft.

What made you seek our server over others?:
The community here seems so tightly knit, and that's great. What really draws me, though, is the amazing amount of structure you have. After reading the rules, I browsed the wiki. I really liked what I saw, and that's why I am joining your ranks.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
All kinds! I love roleplaying anything from a jaunt through the woods to a large-scale battle against an evil lord. What I really look for in an RP is a sense of direction. I don't want all of my work to be lost next time I log in. I want everything I do to impact the campaign, for better or for worse.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
I don't even have to think about it! Dwarves are by far my favorite race. It may have something to do with my fascination with all things Norse, but I'm just drawn towards them. Their colorful personalities can be as varied as their facial hair.

As for my favorite class? Warrior. I can't stand slinging spells or waiting in the shadows. I want to be right in the action! Mano a Mano! I do, however, recognize the importance of all classes.

What are your expectations of this server?:
The only thing I expect from this server is greatness. If this were any other server, that'd be a far-off goal. I have a feeling that this server can beat all of my expectations.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
Quote:Be respectful. At all times. This is not optional. Show respect to your fellow players, regardless of their faction or affiliation. We are all playing this game to enjoy it, and being rude or disrespectful to another player does not enhance anyone's enjoyment. If it enhances your own enjoyment, you undoubtedly do not belong on this server. Being respectful is easy enough if you think about it. Even players that you dislike or seem unable to get along with can be treated with respect.
That one! It's simply the most important rule, not just for this server but for life. If everyone respects each other, then good times will be had by all.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:
Tristan bolted down the dark street, peeking around his shoulder every few seconds.
"Hey! Stop that man! Don't let him get away!" shouted a pudgy shop owner.
A group of guards began chasing him, swords drawn. Tristan heard their heavy footsteps and knew that it was time to pick up the pace. He gripped a small golden orb in his hand, took one last look over his shoulder, then broke out into a sprint.
"Heh," Tristan panted, "Those bastards can't catch me."
The forest had come into view, he knew that if he could reach it he'd be safe. He began thinking about what this device would get him. Money, women, and more. If only he could reach the forest. He took another glance around his shoulder and saw a guard aiming a crossbow. Now was the time to panic. He began looking from side to side, trying to find a place to hide. Whoosh!
"Bugger!" Tristan shouted.
He felt a searing pain in his shoulder. He had been hit. The force of the bolt made him lose his balance, he hit the ground. The guards were getting closer, they were going to catch him. He dropped the small golden orb and it flickered brightly on the ground.
"Stop right there, criminal scum." a guard commanded.
Tristan took a last look forward, what would be his last glance of a forest for a long time.

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
All I'd like to add is a big "THANK YOU" to all who read my introduction. Happy Roleplaying!

Welcome to Conquest of the Horde!

A great introduction, really. Don't forget to /join chat. And in case you did not know, we run on 3.1.3, if I am not mistaken that is.

Happy roleplaying.

Not on 3.1.3 yet, we're still going through testing.

I believe we are on 3.1.0?

Move him into the sun—
Gently its touch awoke him once,
At home, whispering of fields half-sown.
Always it woke him, even in France,
Until this morning and this snow.
If anything might rouse him now
The kind old sun will know.

Think how it wakes the seeds,—
Woke, once, the clays of a cold star.
Are limbs, so dear-achieved, are sides,
Full-nerved—still warm—too hard to stir?
Was it for this the clay grew tall?
—O what made fatuous sunbeams toil
To break earth’s sleep at all?

It is 3.1.3. We will be testing for 3.2 soon. I think. When Kret gets back I believe.
