Oh Yo Ho, Hello There!

First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
Well, I have to admit, I'm not what you'd call a leader. Most of my life I've always tagged along with other people, and I'm no different in World of Warcraft. I've only ever been in an officer role once or twice, and I've never managed a guild myself save for a short time when the GM of our guild was on hiatus for a few weeks. I can be a little impatient at times, and sometimes I have a habit of not thinking before I speak, much to my embarressment on Ventrilo on several occasions. I've always been a big advocate of roleplaying; I started way back on Starcraft: Brood War (yes, it is possible) and I've been doing it ever since, on Warcraft 3, WoW, forums, you name it. Not a big fan of the live-action stuff though, that's getting a little too immersive for my tastes.

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I was born in Scotland in 1992, and moved around from house to house until I was 15, when me and my parents uprooted ourselves and moved to New Zealand. I still miss the European servers sometimes. Naturally, I speak English as my first language.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
As I said before, I've had Starcraft for a very long time (I'm amazed the disc even works any more!), and I bought Warcraft III not long after it came out. I got into World of Warcraft after my mom bought me the strategy guide for it, thinking it was for WC3. For the longest time I roleplayed at the expense of leveling, not once getting a character past their mid-20's. I finally found my comfort zone with Burning Crusade, and to this day I still have a draenei shaman as my main character, and a death knight alt. I plan on making several worgen and at least one goblin when Cataclysm is released, all on the Moon Guard server.

What made you seek our server over others?:
At first I was skeptical, because I'm used to playing on easily-accessible instant 80 funservers, but then I took the time to look into CotH and found that behind the arduous registration process there's a high quality, friendly community and a server that isn't damned to failure by overpowered donor gear and rampant glitches. That, and Moon Guard is a big server. Sometimes it's nice to settle into a smaller community.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
What do you got? Be it idle chatter around Stormwind or heated roleplay fights, I enjoy whatever I can get. Not the biggest fan of the riskier forms of RP (you know what I mean) thanks to Moon Guard's rather unpleasant take on Goldshire. I'm usually reluctant to RP fight because different people have different ways of carrying it out, such as roll duels or actual /duel fights.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
Well now, that's a tough one. Out of the current races, my favourites would have to be draenei and dwarves for the Alliance, and blood elves and Forsaken for the Horde. Contrary to popular belief draenei can actually be quite diverse as far as roleplay is concerned. Not all of them are Light-worshipping zealots, after all. My shaman on Moon Guard was actually a simple warrior before her race took up the stidy of shamanism, and even now she still engages in mercenary work. I find that some of the Warcraft races, night elves for instance, are too focused on a single agenda or belief, and as I tend to roleplay open-minded characters, the constraints of lore for some races can feel a little claustrophobic. As far as class is concerned? Not too picky.

What are your expectations of this server?:
What do I expect? After dealing with some rather unpleasant people on both my main server and on some other private servers I hang around on, I'd like to see a small, friendly RP community with as little drama (OOC at least) as possible. I find that Moon Guard can be a little packed to the rafters at times, and most of the time I find myself left wanting as far as RP is concerned due to my friends having other arrangements in place, such as raiding.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
Definitely the respect and tolerance rules. Most private servers, and even my main retail server, can be cesspools sometimes. It's quite obvious the Blizzard GMs don't lift a finger to stop people biting each other's heads off, and the same goes for the owners of most private servers. It's difficult to focus on roleplaying when there's a griefer lurking around every corner, and when OOC drama treads on everything.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:

"Come on, you big green brute, stay with me here!"

Velimir Silvermist was cold, desperate and scared. What had at first been a well-organised assault on Wintergrasp Fortress had gone horribly wrong; the Alliance had predicted their every move, and much of the Horde forces had suffered gravely because of it. The siege team Velimir was in had been one such casualty. He was the only survivor save for Ranthar, and even then the orc probably wouldn't last much longer.

The young elf kneeled over his injured companion, who had taken a crossbow bolt to the lung and would have died then and there had Velimir not dragged him behind a rock. He had called for the priest who was assigned to their team, but she was dead; nailed to the ground through the stomach by a large shard of smoldering, splintered wood. She had been too close to a demolisher when one of the fortress' cannons had scored a direct hit, igniting the pyrite. The troll's cloth robe had done little to hinder the burning shrapnel.

Cringing and clapping his hands to his ears as the tower cannons continued to rain death on the battlefield nearby, Velimir steeled himself and resolved to try and save the orc's life. The bolt had passed cleanly between his ribs, the cobalt tip jutting out of his back, and that would make it all the easier to remove. Unsheathing one of his knifes, Velimir gripped the length of shaft still protruding from Ranthar's chest and began to saw it down to a manageable size, ignoring the grunts of agony from the orc. For once he was glad he had trained as a field surgeon. Healers weren't always around to save the wounded, after all, and no healing spell could physically remove an arrow. Soon enough the majority of the bolt was sawn off. Reaching round, he muttered an apology to the orc before grasping the head of the arrow, thankful for the thick leather of his glove as he began to work it out of Ranthar's body.

After a few moments, the poor orc was rid of the crossbow bolt. All that was left was for Velimir to stitch the wound closed with a needle and thread from his medical pouch, followed by a thick bandage wrapped around the orc's torso to stem the bleeding. He knew it was a temporary fix; that the collapsed lung would likely be fatal unless help arrived, and soon. All he had managed to was give Ranthar the precious hours needed for reinforcements to arrive on this accursed lake.

Sure enough, an hour or so later, Velimir checked outside the makeshift tent he had erected to shelter them from the cold, and saw the telltale silhouettes of windriders on the horizon.

They were saved.

Well, hello there, mister. Where have you been all my life?

Really enjoyed the intro; can tell you'll fit in well. Toss me a whisper if you see me on (though considering our timezones, that miiight not happen). Either way, welcome to CotH.
