Heir to the Cosmos: The Novalight Dynasty
#61

Through the ferns she travels, the subtle touch of foliage tickling her skin. The animals are aware of her, and she aware of them yet they co-exist respecting each other; wordless. Birds sing from their nests, as they swoop between the canopy dodging the sun's ever-reaching ribbons of silk golden light. Patchy shadows cast upon the soft dirt, resting in between the toes of the young elf. Centuries ago she was hidden from the world, unsure if she would be able to adapt to the world, but she had. She contemplated many aspects of life, to adapt to her surroundings. She loved her family and wished to be there for them, but she could read their doubt, she could feel their hesitation. So she departed, fluttering on her own path. The Butterfly Nova.

The Heir to the Cosmos 2: The Novalight Civil War
The Advancement

The family has been in disarray for quite some time, everyone operating independently. Alteryia remains with her husband plotting and regaining their militant strength, she stands unrivaled in dedication as the Nova of War. Thalion continues regaining his strength as he trains with his sister in the ways of the bow. However due to the lack of support she faced she left on her own, feeling unwanted. A young Zariel has been distant ever since Thalion's death usually keeping to his own and practicing spells taught to him by Reigen Dawnsend. It is their father who works behind the scenes to make sure his children are still safe, it was he who solidified the new alliance between The House of Seregon and the House of Silverflame.

Thalion joined one meeting to the Seregon tower and they discussed seeking out others, and trying to figure out who it was who pursued the three houses. Something outside of the Novalight's internal problems was stirring, although their motives and direction were a mystery. Their taunts and 'messages' far sleeker than anything pulled against them. They held no shame in seeking alliances. As the talks between the houses continued so did the attacks, some subtle and others blatant with no direct goal.

All during this chaos they still sought after the artifacts, something they wished to keep to themselves. During their initial search they found out the third item in the search, The Blade of the Falcon was moved from one red forest to another. They more recently found out that it was moved from Azshara to Bloodmyst Isle. After planning and much attacking the group was split too thin to go in a unit that they planned. Jidaeo decided to go on his own, to free up some time for his children. While he was away, Tialis confronted Xanthe. The two were different but similar, both kept away from the public eye because of their unassimilating personalities, and their effect on the family's image. Both talented hunters and trackers, he had no intention to kill Xanthe as he respected her and didn't like seeing her treated in the way she had been, being so young and peaceful.

Tialis had no problem killing, Thalion or his other siblings because they had all killed before, numerous times. They had already been far too tainted to avoid death, he also fell in this category as well. He cared little for the remainder of his life, and still silently mourned the passing of his mother. When Jidaeo had returned, he kept the blade with him until reuniting with Thalion, but he was approached by a messenger of the council. Someone loyal to the house of Seregon had been attacking Novalight couriers around Area 52. Lord Elrohir Seregon, Lord Leron Silverfang, Jidaeo himself and his human spy and liason Valda went to Netherstorm with a couple others to figure out the truth of the matter.

They were confronted by a warlock, necromancer and a number of ghouls to keep them at bay while the real threat departed before their own arrival. Before the Warlock died he told them something was on its way to their houses, a gift. Two of the 'gifts' were demons, the other was something far worse. He himself didn't know what the third gift was, or which house would be receiving what. After his death the leaders split up to their respective estates to prepare for the storm to come.

An elf sits still thralled by his own thoughts, a gloved forefinger slowly traces his hairline removing rogue strands in a manner similar to his father. He closes his eyes trying to drown out the serenade of mangled conversations of the many patrons below. He retreated to the Four Sun's inn. A business he opened with his siblings, much work was ahead but first he needed a drink. He sat on a large violet silk cushion, covered in a lace veil. He gazed upon the glass in his hand, chilled by his touch the glass was only translucent. He had been thinking of his family, he remembered being so happy with them by his side. One by one he pushed them away,
Was it really my fault?

The Heir to the Cosmos 2: The Novalight Civil War

The Weight of Guilt

"Lord Nova, there is news for you." One of the higher personnel employed within the Inn had approached. Dressed formally, yet still attractive. Her blonde hair fell voluptuously down her neck, shoulders and rested above the contours of her chest. Zariel was already drinking, the glass meeting at his lips, he nodded for her to continue. "Elder Council Member Vetai'ryn Novalight was found dead this evening." Zariel knew the song of death was coming for Vetai'ryn and his associates. The ones responsible for all of this despair, for stubborningly holding onto a narrow minded evil state of mind. One full of manipulation, lies and corruption. The righteous had won, but at what cost? "Lord Nova?" She questioned, her words caused Zariel's chin to raise like a soft finger. "Oh? I'm sorry. That is truly a shame, I'll see to it that my elder is respectfully taken care of." The response causes the elf to blink, unsure. Even she could tell the lack of sincerity in his voice, his mind was distant. It didn't remain in the tavern, let alone the conversation. "Lord Nova...With all do you respect your relative just di-"

He locked his eyes on her coldly and removed the glass from his lips. "Died? My...Mother...Died. My Father, My Aunt, My sister and my eldest brother. All have died." He continues the look, watching her resolve dissolve before him. "Apparently I am supposed to be 'lucky' that they have all returned. Yet save for my brother they all look at me as if they want to slaughter me where I stand, but do not because they have self control. I said I will handle it, so I will handle it. I have expended my reservoir of tears." She nodded, and backed out through the curtains she entered through hurriedly. Why is this family so fortunate, and misfortunate? Is it a curse? Is this what we deserve?

For moments he sat lost in the memories of his family, new and old. The things he's said, the sacrifices they all made. For this family, this house. He remembered the words of Annabelle speaking to his father, he remembered the defiant look in her violet eyes, her vivacious strength. You're family is eating itself away, you all are killing each other. He remembered how Reigen after all they had been through decided to help his father instead of kill him that night with Diel'vani. With the death of Vetai'ryn haven't we done the same thing that has always been done? The air rippled and began to spill purple and black flames, the depths of the fire opened like a mouth which became a doorway. Zariel watched with mild interest expecting his father, he was startled by the expression his father wore when he materialized through the gate. His gaze was cold and vicious instead of stoic and indifferent. Zariel stood up quickly, spilling his drink he was prepared to teleport away at moments notice.

"Where is Xanthe, Zariel?" Jidaeo asked calmly, the tone eerie since his face appeared to be painted with hatred. "I...I don't know, I heard Feralas. Thalion keeps in touch with her. Ask him." The death knight stared plainly at Zariel, loose strands of hair fell down his face like runs of milk. He made no effort to remove them, instead he extended a dark glove from his sleeve and grabbed the hilt of his long blade. Slowly he pulled it upward staring demonically at Zariel, the metal and sheath causing a haunting hiss. "F-father?" Zariel stood confused, and worried he was at loss of words, the hissing of his blade becoming deafening. "Xanthe -isn't- in Feralas....and Thalion -doesn't- know. Where. She. Is...." The hissing stops as he brings the blade low to his side causing his sleeve to drip over his fist. "Well...Why don't -you- know she's your daughter?" Zariel barked back, he was still prepared to leave if necessary. His father appeared different, and he had already been attacked by him before. Jidaeo was silent.

Staring at his son, his eyes became blue slits, he reached into his cloak and dropped an envelope to the ground. With his foot he slid it across the ground, to Zariel who instinctively bent down to pick it up. The mage released a yelp after grabbing the envelope as his father stood before him raising his sword in an arc, he disappeared far away, letter in hand. Jidaeo finished his arc but hit nothing, he stared at the cushion in which his son sat. Behind him the air rippled as a mage in a white cloak became visible. "Are you sure you didn't go too far, sire?" The court member asks. "...Think of this as a 'spanking' of my child. If I wanted him slashed, he would've been slashed. I forced him to be alone with that letter. It should set him straight." The two were silent for a moments, as the partons of the in downstairs continued their conversations ignorant of what was going on upstairs. "What did the letter say sir?" The elf asked curiously. Jidaeo turned around finally brushing hair from his face with his thumb. "Come.. Let's go."

Spoiler:
The Novalights are an old Elven Noble House known for their wealth and connections through Elven Society. Uncommonly known is that most Novalights were raised and tutored in house as well as public institutions. These private instructions often included family propaganda and subtle brainwashing to make members selfless for the house. Willing to attack, or kill anyone going against the house's integrity, tenets or profits.

Centuries ago

A blonde elf kneels over scarlet carpet, his Silvermoon tabard freshly pressed against his chest. The restless wind agitated sapphire flames causing them to waver on top of candles, although wax tears never fell. Five elves stood before him all wearing large robes and cloaks draping over their much smaller frames. The fabric of their hoods hung low blocking their eyes from sight. "State your name." the elf in the center demanded. "Diel'Vani Novalight" the elf responded while keeping his head low. "Do you know -why- you are here, Diel'Vani?" It was quiet for moments, an idle breeze raced through the area making futile attempts to take hair and clothing with it. The calling of church bells rung in the distance as if protesting to the injustice. "...For the Murder of my cousin, and attacking the Nova of the Novalight Shin'ari." The silence returns. "Do you feel any remorse?" The elf looks up to the council, still kneeling. "No. This is how we were raised, if someone doesn't fit the cut. -Remove- them." He tilts his head eyeing them, before returning his gaze by to the carpet.

"Your cousin, and Your sister are exemplary members of the family." One of the council elves called out. "The Nova is the Be-" he was cut off as Diel'vani raised a hand standing to his feet. The elf's arm outstretched gesturing for the council member to stop. A couple elves on the council gasping at his actions. "Agorine will poison this family and consume it all if you let her. She knows how to lead an army not a family. This....This way you raise us, make us think killing our own is okay. That image is the only thing that matters, That..That we must be -perfect- is what bothers us. None of our children smile for too long, some never express themselves. To deny our own family their individuality is...Insanity!"

"We have little time concerning ourselves with personal feelings."

"There aren't many Houses in Silvermoon that are as Cancerous as we are. So self destructive!"

"There also aren't as many houses with such Longevity and prosperity. You yourself have been wealthy your whole life, Diel'vani. How many do you think died for you to obtain what you wanted?" The elf asked indifferently, which struck Diel'vani sourly. He shook his head, he was unaware of the warm tears that slid down his cheek until the slow breeze rushed over him. He was frustrated and tired of a family he loved so dearly. The council elf chuckled smugly, "You also violated the integrity of our family, spouting off about that foolish legend." Diel'vani shook his head defiantly. "No! They're real! I swear it!" He protested earnestly, "Prove it. Bring one to me, this crystal skull." Diel'vani was rendered speechless because he could not. "Diel'vani, we -should- kill you. But you have served your family well. You are hereby exiled from the House, and no longer recognized as a part of this family. If you return to our property, or claim your Novalight heritage we will kill you. Do you understand?"

"Yes."

"Any last words as a Novalight?"

"....I pray...I pray for the day that some one in this family over turns this council. I pray for the day these foolish traditions are no more."

"...The day that happens, this family will crumble. I promise you."

The elf shook his head and turned around, walking down the carpeted pathway. After several steps he stopped and simply turned his head to the right exposing one half of his face. "If you kill Jidaeo for any reason other than his own actions....I will return and kill every one of you. You have my word." The council members said nothing in response. Diel'vani knew his threat didn't fall on deaf ears. "...Farewell Diel'vani." One council member spoke to him as he ended the path, a softer female voice. He continued to his hawkstrider and rode off as the sun began to set. He stopped over looking the estate once more, leaving his family and home.

-Present Day-

The young elf's auburn hair was spread out behind him on a silk pillow, arcane granted scrolls of information to hover above his face so the noble could read while laying down hands free. "Nova, you have a visitor." A maiden's voice was heard outside the room. Zariel moved a few fingers, as arcane energy crackled around the scroll unrolling to reveal more information. An old elf walked in with platinum blonde hair, a house elder Diel'Vani Novalight. "...I see you are always busy. I am glad you take your position seriously." Upon hearing the voice, the scroll gently descended to the sheets as a young Zariel sat up removing hair from his face with fingertips. "Uncle Diel'vani! Wonderful to see you again." The laugh lines of the elf were exposed as his lips extended into a warm smile, he kept his hands folded calmly behind his back eyeing the young Nova. "So what have you been doing here?" Diel'vani asked still wearing the warm smile. "Well...I've been thinking about what to do for Silvermoon ever since the Conclave.

Spoiler:

The Seregon irritated me with their narrow minded views, and they kept bringing up Annabelle instead of focusing on real issues." Zariel responded as the skin between his eyebrows began to crease up due to his frustration. "....But it will pale little in comparison to what I'm planning. I'll have the Four Suns Inn as a base of operations. I just need to get confirmation from Reigen." Zariel said nodding. "But...What can I help you with Uncle?" Diel'vani looked around cautiously before returning his gaze back to Zariel. "It is good to see you still keep in touch with your old mentor. But I came here because of your father....Where is he?" Zariel blinked at his uncle for a few moments, it becoming obvious it has been the first time the thought had crossed his mind. "....I honestly don't know..."

The Re-Awakening

Jidaeo had been searching for an organization called Meadowrest although he didn't know it by name at the time. He himself was captured by their people around the time he was hunting Reigen years ago. Recently they captured his son Thalion and his wife Cerice before they broke free eventually. Cerice told her husband all about what she saw and heard when they were reunited. He had enough of this mysterious group attacking his family so he took it upon himself to find them, and slaughter them.

While on his search he heard his daughter Alteryia was kidnapped and being held for ransom. He went to go investigate he had to make sure his daughter was safe before he retaliated. When he arrived he was placed under a spell by a powerful necromancer and was placed in the same position as his wife. He had became a guard along with his Dread Commander and comrade Itheros Blackheart and close friend of the family Reigen Talah'malanore. The three had been once again placed under the rule of the Faceless and were ordered to watch a group of equally unfortunate prisoners kept in a cave somewhere on an island in the middle of a frigid sea. Due to his position he was free to roam and attempted to find a way to leave but casting was diminished and teleportation and death gates were rendered unusable.

He had been held up there against his will for two weeks, and at first didn't mind the close opportunity to be get to know his target. It was until he found prisoners that he knew that things became complicated, he wanted to keep two prisoners safe while remaining outwardly unconnected to them due to his position and the danger they could be placed in for collateral. A few guards were blood thirsty, and most he knew. He deduced they were all found for specific reasons, unlike being chosen at random like before. He wanted to make sure Lord Leron Silverfang remained safe and alive, a noble of the Conclave of Silvermoon and an ally to the House of Novalight. He also failed to protect Therai Nightglade, the wielder of the Shalla'drassil the Kaldorei Crystal skull. Jidaeo and Therai had shared words, talks and information. He began to trust her due to her long life and natural thirst for knowledge, she also held none of the unfavorable traits of other Kaldorei. The perfect Nightelf. She died much to Jidaeo's dismay, now he had to find where the skull was placed.

Another death that didn't sit well with the undead knight was the human Aroes Blackstone. The human noble met Jidaeo long ago while he was the Nova, Aroes wished to help in Jidaeo's search to find the crystal skulls and supported his son during the Sholazar Massacre. When little believed the elf about those skulls, Aroes did and always offered support. He would've made a great candidate for the human skull, his death felt too soon and unfortunate. Even with all these problems placed on him he still had no idea on the fate of his daughter, this thought by itself rotted his mind. His mind tumbled over the possibilities of every outcome he could conceive, his mind which was invaded by an unknown force while on the island no doubt linked to the rampaging flawless arcane elemental.

His patience was wearing thin, but he knew all he could do was wait. Ever since he and his children defeated the corruption that plagued their family they all split in their own directions to heal their minds and bodies. He knew if he got out of this place it was time to revitalize his house and family. It was time for the sleeping Novalights to open their eyes.

"Jidaeo, what is bothering you Nephew?"

The soft voice of Diel'vani laid gently over the sound of the restless wind, covering it but not disguising it like thin lace over a dinner table. The two stood secluded in the rolling tundras of the Stormpeaks, going over routine buisness of their courts. Such a discussion as always slowly dripped into personal matters. Jidaeo had always been one to remain secluded, a prisoner of his own pride and thoughts. Undeath had not changed this and his Uncle Diel'vani was aware. "I will not ask you again, Jidaeo." Jidaeo slowly parted his large sleeves to extend gloved fingers from the cuffs, he brushed hair from his face slowly as he spoke. "It is our family. I am unsure what to do. Our future is being tried."

Noble No More?

Two elves sat over looking a small stream, as birds finished their last sonata's in the sun kissed trees. Jidaeo wanted one last moment with his children before heading off to Ebon Blade. He found Xanthe and her pets in Silvermoon and decided to have a talk with her. The young elf watched the water and surrounding areas with a wondrous smile that never left her once fascinated, her small toes wiggling feeling the texture of the rock. "...I've missed you Ann'da." She spoke softly over the water, "I've missed you as well, Princess." Jidaeo spoke the same as ever, cold and indifferent because he was unable to do so any other way. The haunting voice of his curse echoing off of his words, however Xanthe seemed not to acknowledge these differences. Her presence warmed him to his soul. "I have to return to duty soon."

"Duty?" She questioned tilting her head a bit. "Mm." The elf nodded, his white hair falling down to his shoulders. "The Ebon Blade are making their move. I have to join them once more. I may be gone for a while, so I need you to get along with your siblings while I'm gone." Xanthe blinked for a moment before laying her head on Jidaeo's shoulder. It was cool to the touch like a rock in the shade. "The Ebon Blade?" She questioned. "Yes, the Order I belong to. We fight those who endanger our way of life. Others like me." He looks to her, placing one finger on her nose. "And people we care about." This action released a small giggle as she remained resting her head. "But we do get along. I love Thalion, 'Ryia and Zariel." She said earnestly. "...I don't see you four together anymore. I worry about you children."

Xanthe begins fiddling nervously with her clothings twirling it unsure. "I've...Just been busy with Kapre and his daughter. Also with work, you remember them right. You met his daughter in Shattrath." She says still looking to her fingers. "Ah, yes the Draenei child. I heard that you and another draenei attended a festival. It is good to see you are happy." He nods watching the lake as well. "Yes Ann'da, I'm Happy." She responds, a few birds chirp as the sun continues bleeding over the sky. "....Very, Very Happy." She adds, this triggers Jidaeo to look at his youngest daughter directly, he blinks slowly after assessing her words and body language. "...Is there a boy that you like?"

"Mmhm, I am In Love."

"What is his name?"

Xanthe continues to twirl her clothing becoming silent and unsure once more. "Xanthe what is this boy's name?" he asked again. "Kapre." She responded wincing. "Hmm... I thought that was the name of the Draenei friend of yours?" Relluctantly she nodded. "Yes, Kapre is his name." The elder elf shook his head. "No." He disagreed, he wished for the freedom of his family but this wouldn't be perceived well. He now understood what Vedis Scorchblood attempted to tell him. Jidaeo assumed Xanthe had a friend that was a Draenei not someone she planned on falling in Love with. She went on to say further that she wished to be with the creature forever. Jidaeo was against it, moreso than he was when Zariel dated the human. "Do you love him more than your family?" He asked reaching back in his colder depths to manipulate her with guilt. "Ann'da! That's not Fair!" he nodded knowing it wasn't, but continued. "I understand. Xanthe I Love you, Always but if you continue to see this Draenei you will be annexed from the family. You will have no right to our connections, name, status or financial resources. We will still love you always but you won't be with our House any longer." He told her watching her reaction.

"I understand"

Jidaeo nodded and slowly stood after patting her shoulder. "I see you've made your choice." He began walking away but stopped at her voice. "No! I meant I understand....I will think about it Ann'da." Jidaeo nodded walking away, torn. Wasn't this what they fought for? To get rid of this persecution of image. Didn't too many lives including his own suffer because of this society they were forced to live in? Was it fair to forsake the integrity of the House for his child? His mind was going in circles as he rode off into the city, thinking this wouldn't be a problem if they weren't nobles. As he approached the estate the air in his office rippled as a cloaked figure in all white teleported to his location. "Sire, I have news. A letter from the wielder of the Shalla'drassil has been intercepted. Apparently Therai Nightglade is alive." The runic eyes of the death knight open widely. "What!?" He turns to the elf who removes his ceremonial hood. "Also we've finished analyzing the Eredar Skull, we believe it is ready to be wielded by a Draenei. Do you have any trust worthy applicants?"

"Hmmm...."

Serenaded by the call of insects, a young elf lays comfortably with his fingers nested under his head. Auburn hair spilling over his wrists, neck and the carpet he rested on. The arcane tapestry writhed in mid air as if drifting on a slow stream above the reaches of the trees. He had come such a long way, as an arcanist, a person, and as Nova. He had made mistakes but he learned from them, giving each mistake a necessary purpose. He over came corruption and with the help of his siblings and friends removed its horrid roots from the family. They had changed their house forever, its ramifications would only be shown in the future.

It was this new generation he was concerned about, this generation he wished to provide for, to prepare as his father prepared for him. He didn't know what to expect, but he knew that he had found the love of his life in Sabryn. A smile slowly spread across his face as he bathed in moonlight, he would soon make her his wife. He was curious where his family was, Thalion, Xanthe, his Uncle Riael and his father. He wondered how they would've responded to Sabryn's words.

"Zariel, I'm pregnant."

Heir to the Cosmos 2: The Novalight Dynasty

Preparation

He was unsure on what he needed to do as a father, but as Nova he knew very well. He needed those he could trust and keep him focused around. First he sought after Alteryia who he found crouched in the shadows of the graveyard on the estate grounds. His once bubbly blonde sister's soul had been strained and shackled to a husk of her former self. He watched her with agony awaiting for her to show more signs of who she was, but all that remained was her strength. He respected it. They arrived in Ratchet to meet up with their cousin Mastus who had been drinking and doing mercenary work since he left the family. Mastus grew tired of the Civil war with the house and left before everything was concluded. He sat in the dusty tavern sipping ale with his feet on the table, it was obvious he resented the house and the family. He tried to convince him to return as they shared a drink staring each other down like strangers, not cousins. Alteryia remained guarding her little brother standing tall beside his chair.

"I'm having a child." He said speaking bluntly, his older cousin smirked leaning back. His dark hair, a common Novalight trait began dripping down the back of the seat as he stared at his young cousin mildly surprised. Alteryia's eyes grew in shock, but she remained silent. Tumbleweeds behind them rolled down the dirt path outside the tavern as Mastus calmly placed a photograph on the table. A beautiful elven woman who was expecting a baby as well. "...So am I apparently." Mastus spoke indifferently, he took another drink and sat the mug down on the table. Zariel smiled leaning over in his suit to inspect the picture, Alteryia remained still, observing. It was then the intoxicated Mastus stood up, "Come with me." He called out and walked out of the tavern. Curious, Zariel stood looking to Alteryia. Reluctantly, he followed.

The wind began picking up slightly sending tumbleweeds, and sprays of dust against walls. Mastus lead Zariel to a back alley and watched curiously as Mastus carefully removed his equipment piling it neatly on the ground by the wall. Zariel sighed, as the wind pulled his hair in one direction wavering like brown flames, "Mastus what did you br-" He was interrupted by Mastus' incoming fist. His cousin hit only air as the young Nova disappeared before being struck, he re-appeared several paces behind Mastus calmly removing his own jacket and folding it over a post. The two faced each other fighting like old times, Zariel showing the fruits of his training paying off.

Two Death Knights and a Draenei sat on a rock suspended in air as etheral runs of energy ran between the ruins of a shattered planet, the sky twisted and cried out testifying to its destruction relentless thunder echoed over their voices. "You are to make sure nothing happens to my daughter. This will ensure that you do it properly." He extends a black glove from his large sleeve and rests it on the crown of a crystal Draenei skull. "There aren't too many who know how to use these. I will have you instructed by one of my allies. Do not tell Xanthe." Kapre observes Jidaeo and the skull closely, then nods under the roar of the thunder.

The One-Hundred Year Void

Ninety-one years ago

An elven father sits quietly in a room with three small children sitting on an intricate tapestry. The older elf walks back to the book shelf holding a heavy tome, his auburn hair rolling past his shoulders. "And that's it..." He says to them. "That's what all your aunts, your uncle, and older cousins have been working on to make sure you and your cousins have a better life." He places the book back on the shelf, a Novalight insignia marking the binding. "Even Grandpa?" A blonde elf boy asks. The father smiles. "Even Grandpa, Your grandmother as well. " The elven father returns his gaze to his children, the subtle notes of the enchanted harp in the corner plucking away. "...So I'm named after your teacher?" A young child asks. Zariel nods. "You are, she taught me this spell so I could hear this song she used to play all the time." The young elf nods smiling. "Its nice." The twins turn to their younger sister smiling. "Mhm, I like it too." Zariel adds.

"I want you all to know -why- we are fortunate, and that it wasn't merely handed to us. People fought for the luxuries you all enjoy. The toys, the clothing..." Zariel begins calmly before his children cut him off with happy exclamations. "The Food!!" "The Aminals!" "Ms. Beless!" the children shout and continue calling out things they enjoy, causing Zariel to chuckle. "Yes, yes....All of those things. Also remember we have fought hard to acquire these things but some of our friends helped us keep them during the bad times. Remember to give back to those who helped you if they ever need it." The children listen intently as their giggling subsides clearly some of the themes going over their heads but they take the words to heart anyway. "Now go on and get washed up for dinner. Uncle Thalion and Aunt Xanthe's presents have arrived. Happy Birthday Amalys." A blonde haired girl stands up smiling ear to ear. "Thank you Father!" She says running off. "Happy Birthday Jidaeo." The only boy stands. "Thanks Father!" He runs off after his sister.

As the two are alone, Zariel reaches in his pocket. "Reigen..." the elf asks. 'Yes, father?" She says in a sad tone. "Lady Sunfire got you a present too, so don't feel left out okay?" The youngest elf perks up running to Zariel hugging him. "Okay! Thank you!" He chuckles, "Be sure to thank Lady Sunfire when you see her, okay?" The small elf nods while embracing her father. "Mhm!"

The One-Hundred Year Void

eighty-seven years ago

The birds sung sweetly over the ruby leaves of Eversong, serenading the waking creatures of the dawn. On the edge of the estate grounds sat a still pond, decorated with elven feeders, and small stone work paying tribute to the Novalight family specifically or the elven race in general. The sun had only began to roll over the hills, dying half the sky with a soft orange glow. The lake was still covered under a thinning shroud, slowly breaking apart at the sun's arrival. An elf sat calmly with his back facing a stone dotted pathway to the pond, he was donned in dark leathers with even darker hair rolling down his back from his head and top knot.

"Good Morning, grandson." The voice called out from the elf, his tone as calm as the pond. "Aw Jeeze! Really? What gave it away this time?" a young elf's voice called out from behind a pillar leading to the courtyard containing the pond. After revealing his voice he revealed himself, scratching his blonde hair which stood up in places due to how he was sleeping only moments before. His face twisted in disbelief. "You still have much to learn." The two elves were named after the same distant relative, but had lived different lives because of this. One pressured, ostracized and guilt stricken, and the other raised carefree, although a bit sheltered. Curious on these differences the grandson spent a lot of time with his grandfather watching his movements closely. The younger elf walked towards his grandfather's back, one foot landing in the middle of a flat smoothed path stone, followed by another.

Finally beside his grandfather he sits, observing the pond under the calls of the birds. Silence over takes them comfortably before it is broken. "Do you think our ancestor would be proud of us? The original Jidaeo?" the blonde elf asked while throwing a pebble into the calm pond, sending rolling ripples out over its surface. The older elf sighed, "I wonder this often. A lot of it he wouldn't be happy, even with some of my actions. But he would be proud of your father, of your aunts and uncle. Your cousins, and you and your siblings. I never thought your generation would come to exist in our family. I have never been happier to have been proven wrong."

The Prelude

Over a barren stretch of plagued lands, two Death Knights stood facing each other. One with alabaster locks falling down his face, his left eye was crushed and leaking dark ichor as the socket itself appeared to be made of black jam. The other knight's hair of the bluest sky's face was shaved to the skull in places revealing metal patches. The two had just finished unleashing devastating attacks on one another. As ichor dripped from their armor and faces, the knight with white hair stepped forward announcing his temporary departure from the Ebon Blade. Another death knight approached the two elven males, this time a short elven female with long hair. "...That's a nice blade you have there." She called out noticing the wanted artifact in the white haired- knight's clutches. The runes that lined the blade appeared to be as dead as its wielder and the ground they walked on. "Thank you, I am glad you like it." The Knight responded with a taunting indifference.

After a few parting words, the White-haired Knight left his commander, friends, and protege behind as he sought after his own redemption. The path he walked was corrosive and knew after watching the previous owner of the rune weapon. It was this weapon that would liberate him. He just needed time. He had began studying alternative methods and expanding practices while countless sleepless nights rolled by. He entrusted the family to his children long ago and knew they were capable of its protection, but the crystal skulls were his pursuit. After acquiring a few, he began distributing them to people he could trust. He wished to assemble them all, and form a cohesive alliance with them. He needed to find a human and had a risky but interesting idea. He found a link from the sword's previous owner, Vivalyn Ridaken and a human Dalaran Noble Lady Elizabeth Claremont. Although Jidaeo wished for an alliance formed on trust and respect, he could not trust one aligned with his enemy so soon. He decided to blatantly blackmail her into co-operation and watch closely for his moment to release such an imposing situation. The two met at her place of business, The Sable Dragon Inn and discussed training in the future.

After the lingering effects of the second Sundering, the Nova Zariel began surveying the land discovering the changes for himself. Zariel, being the product of an introverted selfish family wished to give back. Seeing so many of his allied nations in turmoil he wished to extend his resources. So he re-deployed The Phoenix Knights under the rule of his eldest brother, Thalion Novalight. Guards and family members were its members, and shortly after formation they headed south to the jungles of Stranglethorn. There they began investigating the changes and resumed exploration of the continent before moving to Kalimdor. Zariel was reluctant, but his children were roaming the world as well, they were trained but still his children. After returning to Eversong to tend to his duties, he was informed of odd activity around the estate grounds and some of their lesser known investments. Witnesses described a nimble masked elf, with clawed fist weapons on either hand. He left a note threatening to expose family secrets. It was no doubt their older cousin Tialis Novalight.

An elf responsible for Thalion's death over a century ago, was on the run ever since and difficult to locate. However difficult locating the elf was, killing him would be a task as well. He remained untouched for the century before exposing himself in an almost boastful fashion. Zariel sent word to the Phoenix Knights to send any available elves to assist, in whatever way Thalion felt was feasible. No action was made and the elf slid by a little more on borrowed time. His trail had gone cold, and the Novalights raised their defenses. While studying runes in Nagrand, Jidaeo came across his injured granddaughter, Amalys. She was attacked by Tialis moments before, "speaking things about skulls and wands" She was poisoned and in need of help, he also knew Tialis had a lot of information on the family. He decided to take his granddaughter safe, a place even Tialis didn't know about. They left for Dalaran where his exiled daughter Xanthe stayed. Even after all of the adversity she had faced, she took in her family without a moment of hesitation. She patched her niece up, and removed the poison while speaking to her father about the past. He enjoyed such conversations the most, it were those moments he felt alive. He wished to stay, but knew the detoxification process he would have to go through would be a strenuous task and would require a lot of time and concentration or it would be his final death.

Selfish Decisions

After Tialis' attack, the family had tightened their security. The reunion between Amalys and her parents was a long one, but the adventurous young elf had not lost her wanderlust in the least and her parents were concerned. Tialis and whoever he worked for knew about some things many didn't. This posed a threat Zariel was too familiar with. While in his office he was approached by an old mentor of his, An Ex Warmage, Edgar Barlton. Something was different with his former mentor but he didn't question him as they caught up on each other's lives after the cataclysm. It appeared Edgar required old transaction transcripts from the school he was also a head master of, The Aula Arcanum. A school in which the Novalight family had been invested in as well. He also revealed he was opening another place of instruction this one entitled Echo of Antonidas.

While in the courtyard, Edgar took interest in Zariel's daughter Amalys who was also a mage. Eager for knowledge the young elf decided to sign up for the school forming to expand her own skills under the tutelage of her father's instructor. Amalys already had become a skilled arcanist at the young age of one hundred. After a discussion with Sabryn, Amalys' bags were packed and she departed for the school. The estate grounds were becoming silent with each passing day, besides the marching of the guards.

Jidaeo had prepared for his actions to be his last, he took care of the human skull and positioned the family well using black mail. He retired to a frigid island off the coast of Northrend. If his plan were to fail, his body would be lost as well as the cursed blade he carried with him. Retiring to a cave with his books, and scrolls he began carving runes into his flesh. Black ichor rolled over his limbs as the knight calmly slashed through the flesh rotted by shadow. After he had finished he returned to the coast in the blizzard, his skin the color of ash. He resented it always, but changed for his family. They no longer needed his protection, he was relieved within the husk of his body. So he made a selfish decision, to return. Holding the cursed blade before him, he began to siphon the corrupting energy from his being.

Two pairs of footfalls echo through the large hallway in the Novalight estate. A warm breeze from the eternal autumn air, pushed the lace curtains inwards causing them to wave in stale beams of sunlight. The two elves walked down the hallway, passing pictures of relatives from the past. The first picture was his father Zariel, then he saw his Uncle Thalion, his Aunt Alteryia and a picture with a sheet draped over it. The young elf knew this picture was of his Aunt Xanthe who was exiled, his father could never bring himself to fully take it down. As they walked passed the picture of Xanthe, his father faced the sheet silently. The next picture caught the young elf's attention, as he saw his grandfather, the elf who shared his name. The next portrait passed was his great-grandfather, and then great aunt, Agorine. This hallway had portraits of all the family members who ever carried the title Nova. Jidaeo had saw this hallway many times in his youth. "Why Did you bring me here, Father? Amalys is m-" Jidaeo proclaimed to his father. Zariel continued walking with his son, both drifting through the stale beams of light. "While rummaging through our ancestor's locations we found his portrait."

"Your sister will be fine, in time. I promise." Zariel says looking away from the portrait to his son. "Alright." Jidaeo says, turning to look at the portrait. "...Grandpa and Uncle Thalion really do look like him..." Zariel chuckles, "That's what I said. The resemblance is a bit creepy." He says smiling. "I don't want to be Nova, father." Jidaeo says bluntly. "This doesn't change that." Zariel's smile softens, watching proudly as his child stands for his convictions. "I wouldn't force you to become Nova, like my father. Your sister Reigen doesn't have a problem with it. Although she's a bit too young. You all are really." Zariel explains. "So what's this for?" Jidaeo asks. "I love my father very much, although I misunderstood him for a long time. But I did not name you after him." Zariel points to the picture. "I named you after -him-." Jidaeo turns to the portrait once more, his own blond hair contrasting loudly to the elf in the portrait. "Whatever you do...Take care of this family. Don't be bitter against us...Every family has its probl-."

Zariel was cut off by the sound of a door swinging open quickly, and rapid footfalls. An elf donned in black and red leathers appeared before them. "Excuse me Nova, and young Master... But Tialis has been found! He's in Zangarmarsh with a few others!" Zariel began to crackle with arcane lightning preparing his teleportation spell. Looking to his son as a leader and not a father he commanded. "Find your Uncle Thalion." He turned to the estate guard. "Tell my father about this." Zariel said quickly before disappearing. The young elf slowly began filling with adrenalin as the urgency of the situation rushed over him. He ran off between two columns extending to the courtyard. With a fold of his tongue he whistled sharply. "Tovu!" He called out, as a Wyvern stood up running alongside the elf. He mounted it quickly as the beast flew into the air.

Moments after Zariel arrived in Shattrath, he was notified Amalys had been found. He sent a few guards loyal to the family ahead to Zangarmarsh to assist his brother and his son with the threat of Tialis. He then returned to the jungles of Azeroth to secure his daughter's safety. When he landed outside the cave she was last sighted at he came across an old woman who said she saw someone who matched Amalys' description and over heard that they were headed to Booty Bay. She was accompanied by a few elves so he hastened his pace over the outstretched trees. The wind threaded through his hair, as he soared towards the town on his flying tapestry.

After a slow descent he arrived and had a loving reunion with his daughter. She was shaken and it appeared they had been kidnapped by a resourceful group. Amalys was tired, and the wanderlust had been drained from her temporarily. She wished only to retire safely to the grounds of the Estate, this calmed Zariel for moment. After a few introductions with her companions he offered them jobs working for House Novalight. The tavern was the same as it always had been scurrying goblins, bar maidens and creaking wood. This time it was different for the Nova, it was a sanctuary now that his child was safe. But in the back of his mind he knew, his other child was just now heading into serious danger.

The travel through Zargarmarsh proved to be a difficult one, the muggy air of the surreal swamp took getting used to. A young Jidaeo persevered with his uncle as he was trained, they were sent with others loyal to the family or those who owed debts. Two Orcs and another Sin' Dorei accompanied them in Zariel's abrupt absence. They were not informed of Amalys' rescue and her situation weighed heavy on her twin brother Jidaeo's mind. The group had already been attacked by magi trying to slow them down. They were surprised to see the Novalights in the area, but revealed they were 'too late' and attacked them. The battle was longer than they anticipated, but they stood victorious speckled in blood amongst small craters with arcane flames sprinkled about.

As they followed the map given to them, they came across a clearing surrounded by dense mushrooms. There were a few more dressed like figures who attacked them earlier. While scouting the Novalights were found and another battle broke out resulting in the deaths of their companions. Jidaeo and Thalion jumped into action finishing off the remaining wounded cultists, and set eyes on their target: Tialis Novalight

Deep into the twilight of Eversong Forest, the flapping of rattled wings of torn bone scratch the skyline. The rattle comes to an abrupt subtle thud of a landing beast, one more jostle of equipment follows before a steady pulse of footfalls. The many stars above the crimson leaves, excuse only the strongest beams of light to penetrate to the grass below. A small veil of sun kissed energy filled an arch-way dividing the room away from the outside forest. It was dispersed by the touch of an elven hand. Zariel sat in the room alone, with only the star light and a few candles to illuminate him. The young Nova sat on a pillow, emitting a blue light with a crystal skull in his lap. The blue light twisting like ribbons of smoke from the hookahs beside him.

"Father...I didn't get to tell you earlier, when you asked for that favor. You've returned to the way you looked before...."

.....Partially.

"Is Reigen alright?! Did she find her nephew?"

"She is burdened, but this time I will help her through it."

"Help her through it? Father if you do anyth-"

"Her nephew lost his eye and his arm, and was being hung when we found him. Her enemies who also know of the wands and the skulls claim to be Chimera. Since Reigen holds the wands for us, they are finally beginning to move against the Sunfire House. It is still odd though because... "

"We saw them slaughtered...One orc who remained said that she was employed by 'World Enders'. I know it isn't a literal name but that is what she said."

The World Enders

Months had passed since a young Jidaeo and his Uncle Thalion had slain their elder cousin Tialis. The fight had left Jidaeo a little shaken, and more in-tuned with some of the necessary choices the family had to make to preserve themselves. After a reunion with his twin sister, the two became even closer after overcoming their individual hardships. Determined to help his family grow he decided to train, more to understand how he could be useful. Still it was difficult to shake out the images, of that battle months ago. Fighting Tialis even with his Uncle proved to be a straining task, one that opened his eyes to different types of threats. However there wasn't anyway he could have known it was only the beginning.

Spoiler:

Tialis had began working for a group known as Chimera, they were a multi-headed organization based on putting their members in positions of power and controlling from the shadows. Some tactics were overt and others covert but the end result was usually the same. They were after wands of power, and because of Tialis' cooperation before his death they gained knowledge on the illustrious crystal skulls the Novalights have been pursuing for centuries in secret. These skulls were entrusted to members of the race that matched the anatomy of the skull, those who were also trusted by the Novalights. The wands were left in Reigen's care, which caused her specifically to be pursued. She was given an ultimatum to hand over the wand to the new chimera or feel their retaliation. She refused and her family outside the estate grounds were attacked and killed. The remaining relative who was dying in the forest was rescued just in the knick of time, Amura Quai Ridaken-Sunfire. In the battle for his life, he lost his arm, eye and the will to fight any longer. He's the son of former Chimera member, terrorist and Ridaken Clan member, Vivalyn Ridaken and War Criminal, and half brother to Reigen, Sanguis Sunfire.

Spoiler:

After fighting they realized this -new- Chimera was much stronger, and better trained than they had been while Vivalyn Ridaken was working with them. Amura echoed this point after he had awaken as well. The group left to the hideout they knew Chimera to be working from, a hide out they cleared out a while ago. They found all the members slaughtered and one lone orc claiming to be employed by the world enders who sought after their wands. This orc wished only to gain favor of these World Enders for more power and acceptance. This orc had a wand herself and after an intense battle was slain. Left in the dark Reigen was notified that Jidaeo Novalight the second had found one of 'Chimera's' members and kept him alive, and was awaiting Reigen for the interrogation.

After the interrogation they found, that many people had been doing the work of these World Enders for favor of this shadowy group, because of the promise of power and fortune. There was only one person the captive knew that had gained enough favor to know anything interesting, a human Allied Noble named Lascott Brownfield. Using a risky but intuitive measure the young Jidaeo ( the Third ) found a lead that would lead the Novalights and the Sunfires closer to this individual. The lead was a trap that the heroes narrowly escaped but it proved their suspicions and later Itheros Blackheart, Reigen Sunfire and Jidaeo Novalight II returned and apprehended the human while simultaneously slaughtering those loyal to him in their estate. Lascott was interrupted while he was speaking to some voice, unseen to the death knights and a fight ensued. The Human put up a good match and was promptly captured. During the interrogation of Lascott he revealed that he was working for demons. The threat had become so severe in weeks prior to this revelation that the Novalights had relocated within the well enforced Sunfire Estate. As Reigen discussed this new problem with these Demon World Enders they realized a much bigger problem was on their hands than they were previously used to.

Heir to the Cosmos 3: The Novalight Resurrection

A Black Day

A mysterious Blood Elf rose from an oaken desk covered in stacked parchments and ancient texts. Sunlight split the air as it entered through the various stained glass windows of his small estate home near the border lands of Eversong. The mysterious Elf bore a long white button up shirt and a decent pair of black slacks… at his waits hung two silver and copper plated revolvers each with a nobleman’s marker on it… the sigil belonged to the famously esteemed Novalight’s. His hair was a deep ebony that shimmered with life against the backdrop of the brightly lit room while his skin was a paler white making the Elf almost beautiful for a male. Many a lady had fallen prey to this dashing Elf’s features yet he was a gentleman at heart. Atop his head sat long brimmed black hat, one that had seen a gunfight or two.

There came a knock at the outer door to the chambers, “Lord Mastus, I’ve today’s mail from the Nova.” Mastus tilted his hat up slightly as he moved forward towards the door. Upon opening he extended a hand reaching for the carrier’s letters, “Ah, what’s my dear cousin got for me this time?” The runner shrugged, “Your guess is as good as mine m’Lord.” Mastus nodded, “Thanks, you may carry on.” He said shutting the door behind him as he turned and headed for his desk.

Mastus had been researching heavily into the wands since they had been plaguing his family as of late and thus spent many hours cooped up in his study. With his growing age and the birth of his Son… Mastus had become quite a different man from the brash gunslinger he used to be. Taking a wife and settling down had been the man’s biggest joy and thus he had retired from the front lines of his families affairs seeking solace and peace in his own right.

As Mastus began opening the letters when suddenly a loud explosion shook the inner walls of the sanctum, “What the fu-…” There came a horrid shriek that pierced the man’s soul clear to the core, “Elizabeth!” He shouted knocking the hat from his head as he sprinted for the door flinging it open in a panic before dashing down the hall heading for the courtyard….

Outside horror gripped his chest with crushing force as he saw a massive plate mail covered Orc standing there with his Wife’s frail lifeless body hanging by her small neck in his firm grasp. The Orc snorted and a frosty mist left from beneath his Saronite Helm, “You must be Mastus Novalight I take it?” A deep roaring laughter rose from the Orc’s gut, “I expected you to be taller.” With a violent jerk he twisted the lifeless woman’s head backwards to look at Mastus who’s eyes went wide with fear…. he wrenched her body aside with a tossing arm “Hopefully you can protect yourself better than she did.” He laughed again as he began slowly moving towards Mastus….

Mastus’s vision was blurred by tears but he was trained well for combat, before he could give it a second thought his hands were at his guns. They blazed to life with devastating force as both pistols exploded all twelve rounds into the Orcs torso where the heart and liver would’ve been…. Had the Orc been living…. Within seconds after firing Mastus realized that this was no ordinary Orc… It was a Death Knight; mere bullets would not harm him. The Death Knight glanced down at the bullets in his chest giving his armor a brush with his hand and offering a slight snort he continued his stride….

Going back to his teachings the shadow runes sparked to life upon his body as his hands loosed his daggers that were well hidden in the small of his back, Mastus sank low into an attacking stance “What’re you going to do with those little Elf… You face a monster… Not a simple foe. Accept your fate you pathetic worm lest you want the rest of your family to suffer as your Wife did…” Mastus charged forward disappearing in plumes of black smoke as he passed between the shadows veil and the realm of the living. He appeared behind the Death Knight…. But this was no average Death Knight… and Mastus would pay for his eagerness to engage…. As he passed into the shadows realm he noted that the Death Knight followed him appearing to pass through the realms alongside him as he teleported….

A massive hand slammed closed around Mastus’s throat when he appeared from the shadows, “ARGH!” he choked dropping one of his daggers as his bodies momentum came to sudden violent stop. The Death Knight held Mastus’s dangling body high into the air by the throat, the Elf’s hands clutched and stabbed at the gripping hand that cut off his now dwindling air supply “Do not fight Elf… I assure you that you were not prepared for a beast like me and this outcome was inevitable. I will raise your world to ashes and there is little that those allied against me can do to stop this. You are but a pawn in a much larger game.”….

With a calm vile tone the Death Knight spoke again, “You will be the first of many allies to pay a bitter price for my little Blackheart’s meddling…. Jidaeo should have kept his pathetic nose out of our affairs…. It seems only fair. He has claimed one of my Horsemen… and so too shall I claim one of his.” Mastus’s body began to shudder uncontrollably as he felt a fever take hold in his chest… His pores crept open and began to seep with tainted blood. With flailing limbs Mastus’s body began to succumb to the effects of a dark plague, his mouth foamed as his eyes rolled…. After watching this for a moment the Death Knight drove two plate covered fingers into the eye sockets of the Elf and forced his thumb into Mastus’s ceasing mouth. Without much effort at all the massive Orc squeezed shattering the frontal skull bones shortly before ripping off the face of Mastus leaving only a pouring bloody mess of brain matter and leaking arteries. The Orc released the now dead corpse letting it fall to the floor…

As the Death Knight strode through the compound slaughtering with ease he came upon Mastus’s research involving the wands, “Hmmm… He will be most pleased with this.” The Orc said as he gathered material. Pulling a frost covered dagger free he carved a sigil into the desk top… a familiar sigil among the Ebon Blade…. It was a Dread Commanders crest…. The Orc snorted before making for the exit where he placed a banner resembling that of the Twilight’s Hammer. Upon it was painted the bloody symbol of Dread Commander Borg…. Passing through a portal he gave one last look back at the nearly crushed estate house. Laughter rose again from the Orc before stepping through the black gate….

Heir to the Cosmos 3: The Novalight Resurrection

Righteous Fire

Two days had passed since the death of Mastus Novalight and his Wife Elizabeth Novalight…. Word raced through the streets of Silvermoon and among the various Noble Houses….

A few detachments were dispatched to the site for cleansing and to salvage what they could from Mastus’s ruined estate home… The guard Captain and one of his Lieutenants remained on the road just short of the estate entrance, in the distance their eyes caught sight of a figure trotting up the path on a Hawkstrider as it neared they could see it had an Elven build about it and it resembled a man from the wide birth of the shoulders that bore heavy plate armor….

[Image: WoWScrnShot_120113_175600_zps76685128.jpg]

The figure approached the two not saying a word, the Captain held out a halting hand “Hold Brother, state your business lest we deal harshly with you as an adversary… These estate grounds are private property belonging to the House of Nova-…” A raising hand silenced the Captain from speaking further, “I know who the estate belongs too, I needn’t be told..…” The Elf removed his plate helm revealing his face. Wide eyes were bore on the Captain’s face as he recognized the plate covered Elf, “Forgive me Master Azshra… I- I didn’t…” The Elf pushed passed both of the men, “No… you didn’t…” He continued on his striding path approaching the ruined building….

A puzzled look came from the Lieutenant, “Who was that Sir?” He asked the Captain who in turn answered returning to his rigid posture, “Azshra Novalight… He left to join the Crusade a few years back… No one has heard from him since he left.”…

Inside the building Azshra removed his travelers sash revealing his Argent tabard. He looked around at the blood stained walls and soaked floor… Tears slowly ran down his cheeks before he wiped them away in anger…

[Image: WoWScrnShot_120113_180119_zps3a5f04df.jpg]

Azshra kneeled down picking up a piece of a shattered necklace, “Mother’s stones…” He said quietly, he had given them to her before leaving to take up service in the Crusade. A gripping hand held them tight as the man closed his eyes upon opening they were ablaze with a hateful fire, “There will be blood…” He said gritting his teeth. Tucking the necklace pieces away in his satchel he stood closing his fists. For a many long hours he stood in silence staring at the blood stained floor before he turned bout face to take his leave…. As he headed for his Hawkstrider the Captain chirped up again, “Sir.. Sir! Where are you headed? No doubts the Nova will want you to attend the funeral?” Azshra looked at the Captain as he mounted the great bird, “What’s dead is dead… I have business in Hearthglen…” With that he snapped the reigns…

The news of Mastus' death hit the family hard, and as the word spread like wild fire as members of the Phoenix Knights were deployed to inspect the area. From the shadows Jidaeo Novalight II observed the clues left behind by the bold attacker. He knew who left that marking, and had a fair reason why it happened. Without word he departed to Ebon Hold to see his immediate commanding officer and friend, Itheros Blackheart. As ash colored ribbons of smoke still streamed from the smoldering scene, the Nova XIV Zariel Amaru Novalight appeared. The two cousins had been close, with Mastus always looking out for the younger Zariel. A boiling rage began to grow within him, he was tired of being modest, polite and politically correct in appearances for his position. He wished to take action, but he did not know where Mastus' killer was. He did know where the demons who attacked his own family and House Sunfire had retreated to. He sent word to those holding crystal skulls obtained by his family, and hid his presence from scrying as he worked on his plan. With everything assembled and moments before his departure he sent word to Reigen Sunfire. She appeared at once. He told her he planned to end the suffering their houses faced, and asked her to look after his family if he didn't return. He presented her with an official contract of an alliance between the houses. They both signed in blood.

Heir to the Cosmos 3: Wrath of the Novafire

- 1 month later -

Zariel had not returned, and his failure to tell his siblings left a sour taste in their mouths. Namely Thalion who had taken up responsibility for the family, And the Phoenix Knights. Jidaeo Novalight II also had been missing for the month, although this went a bit unnoticed since he is frequently away from the estate. Zariel's son, began to worry and actively went searching for his Father and grandfather with no luck. He eventually was sought out by his grandfather's pupil, Lucian and the two traveled Azeroth without luck. As more time Jidaeo had returned, He and his Commander searched vast caverns under the earth for a weapon Itheros thought would help in their fight against his own former mentor. Jidaeo was surprised to find out his son was missing, everyone he questioned had no clue where the Nova had departed to.

[Image: WoWScrnShot_112413_184117_zps476991a0.jpg]

In Hearthglen, Reigen Sunfire sat outside chatting with fellow members of the Argent Crusade. The leaves of over arching trees allowed only patches of light to freckle the shade. A wolf spirit approached steaming with licks of etheral white fire. It spoke without parting its snout. "Reigen Sunfire..." it called out. A draenei nearby saw the spirit and watched curiously. The wolf turned to it. "I have not come for you yet....Draenei." Kapre watched the spirit stunned. As Reigen approached the being, its form condensed, and then shifted into a battered orcish form. His wounds painted his skin with blood as he spoke in a raspy voice. He informed her Zariel was dying, He delivered a scroll bound to two crystal skulls, and his location. Shadowmoon Valley.

She had found him propped up against rocks, in the fel twisted plains among corpses of his allies, and demons alike. The Doomguard laid lifeless in the distance, the threat that had been after their Houses had ended. She checked his pulse and it was weak, and fading quickly. With a potion she tried to remedy some of his larger wounds to stabilize him enough for the trip back to Silvermoon. Fortunately she was successful and left him in the care of the priests of the city. His condition was unique, with the healing provided by the light and medicine his body was healing well but Zariel remained in a coma. Days passed. Then weeks. Zariel was returned to his estate in Eversong but still remained sleeping, the family began to worry about his state, and began discussing the idea of selecting a new Nova.

Reigen was summoned by a mage in all white, to have an audience with one of the members of the Kings of the Cosmos. The member wasn't who she expected but someone she knew, Jidaeo II's Uncle Diel'vani Novalight. He had observed Zariel's situation and was aware he was cursed. The two stood atop an old tower in the mountains, illuminated by the glow of light from the surreal architecture. He thanked her for all she had done for the family, her resilience and her loyalty to her promise she made to Jidaeo centuries ago. After all they had been through Reigen still remained one of their strongest allies. He said what the pride of some wouldn't allow, and those who took her for granted didn't acknowledge. He told her of an item in the possession of the Progenitor Jidaeo's best friend and ally, Elenia. She was more at home in the wild, but came from a noble house that she disowned, and her twin Elaria inherited. This was house Sunfire.

She departed to retrieve the item, with Diel'vani believing it belonged to her. He warned her that Jidaeo II was looking for it as well, but she insisted anyway. The barrier over the item's container was connected to Diel'vani's life which he planned to give in order to break Zariel from the unnatural coma he was in. When Reigen arrived she was found by a confused Jidaeo moments later, bewildered on how she could know about the specific item and place. She explained her lineage, and Diel'vani's blessing as the barrier over the item faded away. Diel'vani had succeeded. Jidaeo was shaken even in undeath but couldn't mourn. The two bloodlines seemed intertwined by fate itself.
