During the time of WSG, there still was a portal to Shatterspear and the stairs of hell. There was also one on GMI, although it could be bypassed completely with some mounts.

One of the very first things that I did when I originally joined the server was complete the Stairs to Hell a handful of times. It was very doable on foot, though there were a handful of points where having a mount made a particular jump or two much easier.

Huh. I never even considered using mounts on the original stairs of ell. I enjoyed the challenge. Especially that one jump where you could only land safely on a tiny part of the box that took several jumps to figure out exactly what part it was. Answer? Just a bit to the right of where the actual box was.

Not even for, say, the Zhevra mount? I've been building up to one of my characters getting one for months now.
I think Flora's love of zhevra is even in her profile. SHE WILL MAKE IT LOVE HER BECAUSE.... LOVE. Or more likely, it will utterly despise her and constantly buck and she'll fall a lot, to comedic effect. But still, zhevra!
