Kitten's Delightful Introduction Thread
#1
First and foremost: Tell us about yourself, as a player:
Where shall I begin? Should I describe who I am as a person...no, no, that won't do...How about this?

Jessica is my birth name yet my preferred name is Kitten. I gained this nickname from a wily Australian who upon hearing me rant on my microphone decided that I sounded like a small feline getting angry over catnip. Thus, Kitten emerged. I am a small human specimen also so this just further adds to the magic. I am 21 years of age and currently studying visual communications. Originally my plan was to be a game designer but, with the recent mass influx of gamers who suddenly want to create games I have decided to change my career plan to an animator and/or graphic designer.

Oh, am I silly or what? You asked what I am like as a player! Well, I am a firm believer that who you are as a person in general is how you will act as a player but, I suppose that I should get more specific now.

As a player I usually go with a warrior, a paladin or a hunter. Recently I have taken a liking to the Death Knight as well. My tactics usually involve an extensive use of melee rather than magic. I am aggressive when it comes to monsters and enjoys completing quests involving the destruction of invasive monsters.

When it comes to player interaction I am civil and respectful. I do not feel that it is necessary to intentionally hurt someone or attack their character when they are weaker. I am not a fan of Player vs. Player for that very reason. However, I feel that it depends on the server. If a server has a lot of people and does not have the same process as this site then odds are there will be plenty of angsty teens on the server who just wants to mess with other players and kill them just because they can.

I have minor pet peeves that I do not do such as sitting on my mount in front of a vendor or in a city, standing in front of people while they are at a vendor, casting buffs on other players, etc. I do not mess with other players. That is just simply how I roll. I communicate with players if it appears they may need help. For example if I see a player having trouble with a monster and they look like death is about to become them then, I try to get the monster to attack me instead or if I am playing as a paladin I cast Holy Light to heal them. Usually I say, "Hey, I'm helping" so that they do not think I am just trying to steal a kill.

I think that this is sufficient information for this section(actually I cannot think of anything else!)

What country do you come from? What is your primary language?:
I come from the United States and I speak English. I took German in high school, but all I can remember is "Was ist das?"(What is that?) So, yeah, not good with languages.

How did you get into Warcraft?:
Funny thing actually, you see when World of Warcraft first came out I despised it because all of my roleplay forum friends were playing it instead of writing! I would not get a reply from them for weeks at a time. My curiosity got the best of me and I decided to go out and buy it. I played on a couple of private servers and was a Game Master on a small one before but then I fell out of interest with it. That and I was banned from Element-WoW because one of my friends got a GM account and gave me stuff without telling me. When I explained the situation I was given the Zero Tolerance story and then I just ran out of interest in World of Warcraft. I've begun playing again because I wanted to try out the new expansion.

What made you seek our server over others?:
I simply hate servers with PvP only realms and I wanted to actually interact with characters on an in character basis. To be honest though, Grakor's news on the homepage made me giggle. It's the kind of humor I enjoy.

What kinds of roleplay do you enjoy?:
The kind of roleplaying I enjoy is simple and relaxed yet I do like going on adventures with people to just have fun. I used to be heavy on the battle roleplay with specialized characters and weapons. Then the phrase "God-Modding" came into the scene and everyone was depressed because our characters were being taken down to size. Hahaha.

What is your favorite race/class? Why?:
My absolute favorite race is the Blood Elves and my favorite class is the Paladin class. I chose the Blood Elves because they are slender and built similar to me yet can still pack a punch in terms of well, everything. They are a very artistic race and I enjoy their architecture, their culture and their story. Here are the Blood Elves just chilling in Silvermoon and the Scourge just tears through their beautiful world. On top of that the Wretched are attacking, their Sunwell was destroyed, and half their city was turned to ruin and their powers have decreased. They may very well be power hungry elves but to think of what they have lost as a race you begin to understand why they want the power once more.

Originally I enjoyed plowing over monsters with a warrior but, noticed that I needed to stop and eat a lot in order to keep my health up. When I tried out the Paladin class I was overjoyed that I could simply use healing spells on top of still being able to wear that awesome plate mail. It was a game changing experience to me.

What are your expectations of this server?:
I expect this server to have intelligent people that I can get along with and a supportive staff. I recently got tired of yet another site that claimed to be full of friendly staff and players but soon realized that it was all a lie. Also, I was tired of this kind of speech:

"LFM TANK"
"u have JC?"
"3k for blksmit"

Yeah, I think that pretty much sums it up. I am confident that no one on this server talks like that. I can ignore it but, sometimes it just gets too much.

Out of all of our rules and regulations listed on our server, which appeals to you the most?:
I think the respect rule really lays down the law and the general feel of the server. Once players read that they should be well aware that this is a no-nonsense server. I appreciate the use of the word respect because I feel that a lot of people these days just turn into something sinister as soon as they get on the internet because there is little cause for concern for physical harm.

Lastly, tell us a story! It can be short, it can be long; but most importantly, we want to see your work in action. Go!:

This story is actually a single chapter of a book that I began writing when I was 16 years of age. I do not believe there is anything vulgar in it but, I do still suggest personal discretion:

The Gods came to us twenty-seven years ago. Much to our happiness, they graced us with their immortal presence one morning when the mists about their divine island homes receded to present us with their personal ships across the sea instead. Nobody had any idea as to why this all happened one day and nobody had any objection to their new theocratic rule over the many peoples of Terrania.

I myself, an Ebonian of Devil's Horn, City of Black Wings, had no objection; then again I was only just born the previous day. The people of my city thought me a blessing and news soon spread of my appearance. I bear the exact resemblance to our Unholy Lord, Lokinan. I too have shimmering green eyes, shocking red hair, and spiral horns like a mountain goat, and the most startling rarity, leather bat wings instead of my kin's black feathered wings.

Some say that Lokinan himself must have coupled with my mother instead of my father. Others just say that Lokinan tweaked my appearance in His liking. All that I know now is that my father and mother could not be happier and I no longer had say in my future. My most wonderful parents sent me away and in return, they received great wealth, respect and fame.

I was to be taught at Lokinan's Palace at the very peak of the mountain top my city was built upon. There are many cities in the Mountains of Sorrow, named that way because of the constant sense of depression the dark clouds give to goodly folk.

Our most reviled enemy, the Ivorian, are said to break down in tears and fall to their deaths when they enter our lands and see our endless sea of black clouds above them. It must be the reason why I have never seen one in my life and only hear stories from passing Noctura merchants or other creatures on the Negatorian side of the deity plane.

They say things that make the goodly creatures sound more evil then we actually are. Although, I never considered the possibility any creature could be as cruel as an Ebonian priest from the Dark Order Church. From what a recent “informant” told me, Ivorians are fifteen feet tall, with hideous white feathered wings, dagger-like teeth and an ambition to destroy every other race on Terrania.

If you scoffed at that, I share your sentiments exactly; which is why I shook my head and left the tavern that night. As I was leaving, a reveler called out to me from the side of the cobblestone street,

“Why are…” he hiccupped and gripped his flask closer to his staggering form, “you here? We don't need no…damned Chosen!”

So taken aback was I by his words that I stared at him in disbelief as he collapsed into drunken unconsciousness on the puddle riddled road. Shaking my head I began to wonder myself of my reason for being here. All I knew was that I was a Chosen. I had no idea what all my teachings were for and I had no idea as to what my purpose as Chosen was.

I decided that tomorrow, I would go to ask Lokinan what my purpose was.

The next day, I did just that and after eating a quick breakfast, I walked my way from my room and headed for Lokinan's throne room. I knew he was in there already, delegating with the city's magistrate, receiving gifts from fanatical pilgrims or appeasing his siblings in some divine argument that I don't even want to know of.

“Master Nihal, why have you come to see The Unholy Lord so unannounced?” one of the Devil Guards addressed to me.

The Devil Guards were an elite class of Ebonian warriors that Lokinan himself chose to become His most loyal and trusted guardsmen or guardswomen. The Unholy Lord never gives a specific reason for why the individuals are above the rest. They are no better than an average fighter, mage or cleric. I have a suspicion it is because they show unwavering loyalty out of stupidity and fear. Their fear of Lokinan is what sets them above the rest and that is why they are selected to the guard duty. They refuse to fail any task out of fear of reprisal. Such is my Lord's “wisdom”.

“None of your business, worm. Move.” I promptly reply and the two guards hastily removed their twisted halberds blocking my path.

I prove my point of the recent charge against them and their complete stupidity. I've tested this theory many times before. I scared them into believing that, if they brought me any displeasure whatsoever, that Lokinan himself would punish them through me. I am the so called “Chosen”. Whatever that means really means.

No matter how often I travel into the black stoned clutches of Lokinan's throne room, I am eternally awed by the majesty of the structure. As soon as my bare feet touch the cold surface of the onyx floor, my body shivers with a tingle of power and I have to shake my head to rid myself of the dreaded feeling of unworthiness. Devils, turned to stone at a whim of Lokinan's thoughts, lined the long walk to the great throne itself.

I had expected Lokinan to be sitting on his throne, surrounded by a mote of blood and settled on top of a mountain of reptilian looking skulls but, he was not present. Maybe he was present had not wished to be seen yet. There were a myriad of places he would be hiding. I had no patience for games anymore.

Many times he considered me his long lost mortal son and his willingness to play games with me made my relationship with him unsettling. It was as if he wanted me to take his place in the future. Honestly, I'd rather be torn into absolute oblivion then follow in the Unholy Lord's footsteps.

“Lokinan, I know you are there.” deliberately not addressing him as Lord.

A slight snarl emitted from behind one of the nearest black pillars, painted in exuberant reds and greens and just as I suspected; he was there.

Twin spiral horns protruded from the top of his head with fiery red hair spiked only on one side whereas darker red hair draped over her stern yet teasing malicious countenance. A slender pronged tail swung from side to side, amid the area between his two black bat wings that were casually hanging at his side, folded in a relaxed but, ready fashion. As his green eyes locked with my own, he said through his jagged teeth,

“You're too smart for me, sonny boy.”

“Anyone with a semblance of intelligence could have known you were here.” I replied coldly.

Snorting with a bit of displeasure, Lokinan flapped his wings and propelled himself back into his high backed throne.

“What crawled up your ass this morning, Nihal? Or shall I simply say “You rise but, you don't shine.”?” Laughing at his own joke with an air of arrogance, Lokinan smiled down at me and flicked his tail.

Crossing the marble floor with a soft pad of my leather boots resounding about the vast room, I chose my words carefully and replied.

“A question of existence has crawled up my ass this morning, My Unholy Lord.” Lord was said with a slight sneer and I continued as I climbed the steps towards Lokinan without fear, “Why was I born? What have you taught me for and what am I supposed to do on this wretched planet?”

At this point, I was approximately three feet away from the god, my green eyes were level with his to show my seriousness and Lokinan stared right back at me, moving his eyes about as if contemplating how to answer my questions in a delicate way. I should laugh at the absurdity that anything he says is delicate.

“You're here because the time is near for the Negatorians to destroy the Elepantheons.” His eyes did not waver and I stood back a bit, giving him proper room to explain further, “You have been taught to be an excellent fighter, mage and through my express blessings, the most powerful cleric of my divinity. Now, as for what you are supposed to do with these gifts I have personally bestowed upon you…” He paused once more and scratched his goatee, “You are to find the shards of a scared weapon named aptly, “The Sword of Darkness”. There are other Chosen that will help you as each of you is attuned to one particular piece of the sword. Only together can the Chosen make the sword whole again.”

Staring in disbelief, I rocked back on my heels and said, “You mean…I'm supposed to go searching all of Terrania for pieces of a sword that you'll kill the Elepantheons with; starting a godly war? Do you have—I can't—Are you crazy, Lokinan!?”

Calmly and with the same smile as ever, the Unholy Lord replied, “Precisely. And no, I am not insane. Well…Maybe to an extent.”

He winked and suddenly his tail wrapped around my neck, making the veins pop out as I struggled for air. My eyes bulged at the pressure his tail put on the corded muscles of my neck and I felt myself being lifted off my feet.

“Now, it seems you need to learn some manners! Do not ever approach me in the same arrogant fashion again, boy!” Lokinan's voice echoed in my ears, past the sound of my circulation and the sound of my agonizing gasp of breathe.

He slammed me to the ground and stood over me as I writhed around the shiny onyx floor. Clutching my throat I managed to say in a strained voice, “Yes, my most Unholy… Lord.”

Generally stunned by his random outburst of anger, I decided not to speak anymore of the matter and with a few grunts of pain; I stood up and bowed lowly to Lokinan. The claw at the tip of my wings scraped across the floor with the ever sharp noise of bone against stone as I lowered them in a manner of outmost respect.

However, this meeting with Lokinan only caused my level of respect for him to significantly drop to nothingness. Does he even know the dangers of an all out war between Gods? Terrania would be annihilated! Are the gods simply blinded by their pointless hatred towards one another?

Luckily, I blocked my mind out from Lokinan, otherwise, I doubt that choking me would satisfy him enough for the blasphemous thoughts I had rushing through my mind. Shaking my head, I stared at the ground and said, “I will do as you ask, Unholy Lord.” I stood up straight but, did not make eye contact as I continued, “I shall return to my studies.”

With that I turned around to walk away when Lokinan spoke once more, “You will be leaving tomorrow. Why don't you greet your peers? They should be arriving shortly.” Lokinan laughed maliciously as I did not reply and simply slammed the door behind me.

One of the guards looked at me with curiously and I swung my fist into his face, shattering his nose with a sickening crack and causing him to fall backwards immediately. The other guard made a concerned rush to his companion but, instead he hesitated at the sound of my growl. He bowed as low as he could, his ebony feathered wings pressed down in appeasement in the obvious sign of “Please don't kill me”.

I didn't even look at the guard as I opened my wings and took to the air, wanting to be as far away from the palace as possible. The warm thermals that swept up from the many volcanoes in the north made the peaceful flight worthwhile.

I flapped my wings only once the entire time it took for me to reach Belza, the marketplace of Devil's Horn, and as I landed in the darkness of an alleyway, my eyes gazed upon something I had never seen. This something is one thing I will never forget; a bird-woman with glittering white wings.

--End--

Is there anything else you would like to add, ask, or otherwise clarify?:
I cannot think of a comment or a question at all, strangely. Oh well.

... Wow. It's really quite refreshing to see an intro this big. The amount of thought and effort you seem to have put into this is astounding, and no, I'm not just easily impressed by all the prittee cullors. Although they are very pritteeeeeee... /drool

Ahem. Your story was an interesting and compelling read and says a lot about how good an RPer you presumably are, so I look forward to the theoretical instance in which I run into you in the big bad world! On that note, seeing as I haven't said it directly yet, welcome to the server! Glad to have you aboard.

... And remember (seeing as nobody else has bothered to say it) that happiness is mandatory, citizen. Especially so if you decide to RP around Silvermoon... /cough

I now need to wait for these patches to do their thing. I had it all the way up to 3.2.2. and now I have to downgrade then, regrade? For lack of a better word. (I'm sure I will think of one later, such is my life.) I like colors too! This forum is set up so nicely... it reminds me of my old fantasy forum: Islands of Elements. *sigh* I cannot help but press the buttons! ^^

In the meantime though I am brushing up on my lore and thinking of good character to start off here. My mind is tingling with ideas. Mwuahaha.
