Borderline RP Addict interested in joining CotH.

Greetings Conquest of the Horde.

I am an ol' hardcore RPer from live European Realms with lots of projects and experience in my pocket (if I may be so bold to state such things about myself). Though life took some turns and I have not been able to pay the fee, or rather I haven't prioritized WoW high enough to have wanted spending money on it. Therefore I am now considering a Private Realm, so I found CotH and so far it sounds pretty much awesomesauce.

But I have some questions;
1. How hard is it to become a member/prescriber or whatever you might call it? I would think myself having enough to speak for myself but the things is that my roomies wanna come along too and they are new to RP inside a game or chat like this. (Though they are both pen and paper roleplayers and LARPers (Live Action RolePlay.) So in short, do they have a chance to join without experience?

2. I read the rules and just wanna get this right. As I interpreted the rules I think that it is okay to roleplay on some of the touchy subjects IN GAME as long as you it in a private manner and all parties are okay with it?
Example 1: Can I roleplay a drug user/addict that might openly sniff or smoke "things" as long as you actually don't refer to the substances as reallife substances?
Example 2: Is it okay to have a character who have been sexually assulted/abused and talk about it? (Maybe not screaming about it in town square but maybe more secluded place with people they have come to trust.)
Example 3: Is it okay to roleplay a concubine/escort/"geisha" with main focus on the company-aspect of their "usage" and not the act prostitution?

I got no plans at the moment to aim towards any of these aspects of roleplay but I rather ask now and get myself clear on what the rules mean.

Really, it isn't all that hard to join these days. As long as you give a decent intro and don't break the rules, that's it. I had barely ANY knowledge of CotH or Warcraft lore when I started, for instance, having only experience of WoW RP servers.

And for your not-so-couth-questions.

Well, you're allowed to have druggies, yes. As long as it isn't real-life substances it's fine (And it's OK, there are MANY subtances in WoW that act as drugs without being from real life)

I think that yes, you can have someone who was abused, as long as it isn't taken as the main focus of the character.

And the final example, a concubine... I'd say no, but it's possible if you talk to the GMs about it and they say yes.

That and I wanna know if my begginers-to-Wow friends even have a change to join aswell cause it's really all or nothing for us now. (It started out as one roomie getting bonus items for a WAR 10-day trial, but only his computer could handle it so then he said "Well let's go for a Wow 10-day trial then." but I got the rather brilliant idea to look into private servers. And this one is far the best Roleplay one I have found so far, even though I am not a real fan of the rates. But you cannot always get all that you want, can you?

As long as they can roleplay? Send them in. We're not as restrictive as we used to be, I'm sure if they're nice people and at least try, they'll be welcomed with open arms. We don't ban people for being bad, unless it's serious, we ban people for staying bad and not trying at all to be better. And for breaking rules, of course.

I don't really think you would need GM permission to play a geisha.

Adult RP does take place as far as I know, but from what you are saying, you aren't even going in for the prostitution part, but rather the companionship.

There's really nothing in the rules about a person being an escort. That's a far different thing from being a hooker, after all. Though of course, there are the escorts that do that sort of thing as well.

Escorts are something that can be done well, but really have to be done well to work out. The only thing *I* personally care about is that there isn't a character whose sole purpose is to be an ERP magnet. Outside of that, what abuses your character has suffered, what he abuses, or what he does in his spare time is your business.

I will try to kick-start them both to do it tomorrow, one of em are working during the day and neither of them has the game on their machines so we have some installing and patching to do.

I tend not to roleplay intercourse cause I do not get anything out of it, not so far at least cause I have tried. The chase and the teasing, everything leading up to it is what I like about it. And I don't say that such a character wouldn't be offering the uncouth services, just that I wont play them out and it will just be an OOC agreement that it has happened.

To be honest, one of my roomies is considering that. I sort of want to roll some of my characters I played on Live, but have no insight on how Death Knights works here for one. But I have a tauren character planned, mainly for writing tauren erotica on my WoW-Stories Blog.

I am such a bad forum-user so I ask: Where can I find an approximate number on how many active users CotH have?

Well, the story is just a simple test of your writing ability. We like summa'them metaphors and whatev's. Really, just keep it PG-13 and do your best and that's all. It can be about ANYTHING, not just Warcraft.
