The Emerald Dream in RP.
#1
Hello! Some of you know the druid I play, Angraa, and that he is a fledgling. He didn't know very many spells and has trained with fellow druids to gain bear form, but I have a bit of a problem. My intention for Angraa was to start small and grow in power through role-playing (since my friend and I are playing together and all that). The problem lies in the fact that druids (especially beginning ones such as myself) must spend a vast amount of time in the Emerald Dream. I won't mind RPing this or going about it some other way, but I have no idea how. I am not necessarily looking for a quick-jump to ultimate power (I just got leveled to 80, but still walk around in my weak gear).

In a nutshell, how can I increase my power (periodically or instantly, it matters not to me) without having to spend hundreds of years away? If this is not possible, I would like to find a way to either change my character or just start from scratch. Thanks for your time! ^.^

At the risk of a shameless bump, I don't want to have to re-create this thread. ANY input would be very valuable. Thanks. :D

You could probably do an In Character post or a Storyline one that shows the trials he faced in the Emerald Dream, how he gained his power, etc. Then when he comes out to take a break and see the world through his own eyes, the way as everyone else does, you RP that.

That's just my suggestion though.
Looks like you need some Majyk.

Well, the only feedback I can give you is this:

As a time reference - look at Taurens: They're functionally able to advance in druidism without spending -hundreds- of years in the Dream. But if you've already RPd your character as an apprentice that just started, then we'd still be talking "years" before any significant powerlevel'd be achieved.

I recommend seeking a master and RPing the learning - can be great fun - some of the best RP I've had was around teaching and/or being taught.

Also, the forum can be a very good tool for "inserting" the surreal and vital experiences your druid had in the Dream for a couple of years.

Note: Bearform is a very advanced thing though, it involves litterally achieving identity in spirit and instict with the creature. Like most druid spells it's something that you "trancend" into rather than learn magic words for.

That is good that you mentioned it. I found a druid that was willing to train my character and that is how I gained control of bear form. I meant to start Angraa at or near the level of power required for bear form (which is low in terms of WoW leveling), so I didn't think it was too far-fetched to have gained it but not have control until a guiding hand intervened. Thoughts? :)

On a side note,

Quote:Also, the forum can be a very good tool for "inserting" the surreal and vital experiences your druid had in the Dream for a couple of years.

I like this idea. I wanted to do some type of story on the forums, but wasn't sure about it. What you are suggesting is writing a sort of journal/log of my time in the Emerald Dream and "skipping" years in-game (with frequent disappearances, of course.)? Or did I mistake your meaning?

That's what I implied, yes.

DaveM also has a good point though. Getting someone to train you could be fun for both of you. :)

Yea. Just look for the best spot to "lose time" in, that requires least retconning of experiences you've had during RP.

Do be aware though, that Druids don't go into the dream at night, while they're asleep, or something. They go in for months or years usually.

I am thinking that now is the perfect time to knock a bit of it out of the way. I play retail so I installed patch 3.3 and can not play on the server until they update it. During my off-server time, I can RP the Emerald Dream on the forums and when I am able to return to the server, RP a return from the Emerald Dream. :D

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it. ^.^
