DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING
If there's any Unix-head Mac users out there, I cleared my Cache folder, and then changed the permissions to dr--r--r-- (444) so that WoW could not write to it. The result is a permanently empty cache. This does not appear to have a negative effect on my gameplay (in fact, it is a net positive effect), but if there's any other daring souls out there, more data is more awesome.
Edited to add: My use of the word "hack" should not be taken to mean "exploit" in this context.
