Humans of every kind.
#1
Humans began as vrykul and they also have their start in Stranglethorn Vale, that is about what I know of their past.

So I wonder dark-skinned humans, where are they from?
- Rebel and Kurzen humans in STV are mainly of a darker shade.
- Some Kul Tirasian sailers are depicted as more of a olive-skinned kind.
- Bandits in Tanaris are all darker. How long have these really been there along with the goblins? Do only seven to ten years sound about right?

Another thing too, what about other and lesser human societies?
Jacula just wrote about a caravan tribe in his profile, don't get me wrong I really love it. (Here.) But some time ago another tribe of humans were mentioned in a profile and as far as I know it was turned down. (Please enlighten me if it went down differently in the end or/and the differences.) And I also wonder why my ideas of a persian-inspired brownhued were shot down in the light of all this.

In essence; I am in a major state of confusion.

I would think the ancestors stayed in STV and their skin turned black from the sun and heat as generations passed.

If new cultures/tribes are frowned upon then perhaps it would be best explained as the traditions of a group of families...a large nomadic household who, due to the locations they visit, adapt their clothing to be suitable to those climes...hence baggy pants and headscarves. Rather than an independent or original group/society, explain it as a group native to or originating in one of the major human centers but spending so much of their time elsewhere that their adapting has resulted in them appearing so different.
Convoluted? Perhaps a little, but quite possible.

Concerning the Kurzen Rebels in Stranglethorn Vale, they are actually from the Kingdom of Stormwind. The past behind them is apparently that a noble by the name of "Something" Kurzen set up an expedition into Stranglethorn not long ago and got possessed by an ogre etc. So they are the same as Stormwind humans just with a tan.

I tried to obfuscate as much as possible concerning the tribe, not pinpointing any origin or wide stretching history. I wanted to make a character who would appear more foreign than other humans, inspired by early Arabic culture. This in turn has lead to many interesting clashes of culture and values, when the profile is approved I will be looking to expand on the history of both the tribe and Saif himself.

On another note, glad you like it :)

One thing I've long come to terms with in WoW is that you forsake logic in a lot of respects. This being one of them. I may be an Arab/Middle East history buff, but I long came to terms with the only cultural Arabian human influences in this game are portrayed by the Wastewander Bandits (also in a very racist manner as well). When it comes to skin tones, just accept it. Blizzard probably will not explain it... probably because they, themselves, never cared to expand upon the subject.

I find it funny that blizzard, in trying to include as much as they could in a multicultural sense ended up with a lot of bad cultural stereotypes.
