Heir to the Cosmos: The Novalight Dynasty
#31
The graveyard is empty now. Zariel Novalight has returned to Dalaran, and only I remain. Terokkar has strange lighting, illuminating the draenic grave markers with beams of light shining down from the trees above. It is curious how much this place seemed to disturb Zariel. I have never felt uncomfortable while I am here. It is peaceful, and my mind flows freely. This place provides rest to the dead, but the dead are immaterial. They cannot influence those around them directly. I hope that Zariel has not been so disturbed that he shall not return here. It is a haven that I would like to provide.

Siral emerges from my shadow and wraps himself around my shoulders. He takes a draconic form as of late, not unlike a snake, winged and lithe despite his dark being. His claws dig into the cloth of my shoulders, and he whispers in my ear. He always enjoys whispering in my ear. “You have a remarkable capacity for telling false truths, my lady Therai Nightglade.”

I did not tell him false truths, I say. He intends to test me, as he often does. I do not wish to allow him this opportunity.

“But you did, my lady. You do not respect this place, to my recollection. My presence here is more than enough to defile it, and if I recall correctly, you have dueled here with your dark magic, haven’t you?”

I have not directly defiled this place. He flutters up on top of a stone decoration and meets my gaze. His eyes are the only things bright about him: brilliant blue, white in the center, yet piercing. He shows cunning unlike many other creatures of his realm.

“I suppose that by your definition, no, you don’t disrespect this place. Your perception is so warped, my lady, that it’s difficult to tell.” He adjusts his positioning before settling down, his tail curling around his body, wings like a dark cloak. “And you truly intend to assist the Nova? How noble of you.”

There is cause for me to do so, and I shall gain from it.

“Your obsession with knowledge is baffling, but I’ll respect your goals. There are simply so many other things that you could preoccupy your time with. Far more constructive things.”

You seem to think that the artifact is not a worthwhile goal.

“It’s difficult to hold much interest in an object that I know nothing about, my lady. You must understand at least this.” He preens his wings, as though it is something necessary for him.

Your goals that you would intend for me seem no more constructive than this.

Siral glances up at me. He has a smirk that arises whenever he thinks he knows something that I do not. “Perhaps if you focused more on maintaining an income, or gaining some measure of status. You don’t eat nearly enough, my lady. The very least that you could have done was asked for some sort of payment from the Nova.”

I have assets to rely on.

“Assets that are quickly depleting. How long will it be before you have to do another ‘research project’? Working job to job has never seemed something befitting of your personage.”

Would I not gain some sort of status by working with the Nova? He is powerful in his own right.

“That would rely on him sharing his power, and as you know, mortals are terribly greedy.”

I suppose. At times, I do not like Siral’s perspective.

“I’ll allow this for a time, my lady. But, if nothing constructive or tangible comes from this soon, then I’m afraid that we are going to have to pursue some other end. Remember, this soul bond does go both ways.”

I do remember.

The death knight stands atop his tower in the barren wasteland of ice and snow. His expression as void as the sky. As his magi scry for his son, he watches the clouds as they tumble and roll through the darkness, streaks of lightning poking out, before running back in. He stood indifferent to the quiet storm; yet he personified it. He was beginning to become torn. He put his son in the position of Nova to keep a hold on the family in his absense. He knew his son would be a better Nova than he was, and his own father, but he would have to work for it. His family was falling to corruption, and he could no longer lead them to the right path. Zariel was to be controlled, but after Jidaeo recognized his son's strength and merit; he entrusted the task to the young elf. Now his son's life was in turmoil and the bloodshed was only beginning. Jidaeo's agony was eating him, yet he had no way to express it.

"My King.." An elven female approaches in a white cloak, the storm quietly flashing light over the tower. Jidaeo slowly inclines his head, the dark cloth writhing in the wind as his snow white hair extends passed the fabric. She continues. "The Nova is in Dalaran...He appears to be with Osa Queen and...The Kaldorei you went with....to find the Library." Jidaeo crosses his arms, and speaks to the female although he never turns to her. "Hmm...A Kaldorei?"

The Blood Sun and Moon of Shadow

- A little over 1,500 years ago -

A young elf with rounded cheeks and a top knot stood defiantly to the wind. His dark hair extending behind him, as he stood looking at the incoming storm rolling over Eversong. "Jidaeo! Jidaeo!" A voice calls out as the boy turns around, he recognizes the voice as a smile stretches over his small face. "Uncle!" He calls out, to his father's twin brother. The older elf's hair all white, tied in a similiar top knot as Jidaeo's. "You have to come inside, you'll catch a cold." Diel'vani calls out. The elf appears in a modest robe dark in color. The wind teases everything from the grass, their hair, their clothes and the leaves as everything sways. Thunder is heard as the clouds roll in, a wall of smoke from the heavens.

Jidaeo turns around, and stares at the sky. Diel'vani sighs. "Jidaeo." He says in a stern tone. "Come inside." He repeats. The young elven boy walks forward. "I can't Uncle...I don't belong there." The elf pouts more to himself, his cheeks swell slightly giving his face a rounded shape. He brushes hair from his face with his thumb slowly. His chin raised as the lightning dances in the sky above him. The old elf smiles and puts his arm around the young boy's shoulder looking up with him. "What's on your mind son?" Diel'vani asks as Jidaeo finally looks to him. "Our family isn't like our ancestor. We...We do bad things." He says, lowering his eyes. Diel'vani tilts his head surprised to hear this from the young elf. "Who'd you hear that from?"

"Some of the Maidens."

"...Well it's true. We don't always do the best, but we have to protect our family now. Each other."

"When did that change? Our ancestor protected what was right. I...I will do this alone."

Although the elf was young, Diel'vani could see the resolve in the young spirit. Jidaeo by nature had already exhibited his yearn to do things without help, to never depend on anyone. The older elf sighed knowing it was because of the weight of being named after their progenitor. He shook his head cursing his brother in his thoughts, he knew this boy's future would be one of self-induced hardships. He gave him a hug. "You are never alone, Jiddy. Remember that."

The young elf shakes his head. "I am alone, already. My brothers and sisters love me, yet hold my name against me. Asondra always calls me the -favorite- My father only sees me as his legacy and the others don't like me because of things I didn't do." The old elf looks to him concerned. "Jid-" He's cut off. "And I'll find those skulls Uncle, I'll prove to the Shin'ari that you're telling the truth. I -swear- it." The small elf's rounded face was adorable; still in his young impressionable stage. But Jidaeo had been serious, and Diel'vani knew it, he didn't wish to upset the young one any further. "Thank you." He said with a faint smile. "Let me tell you about the story of the friendship between the weilders of two skulls."

Jidaeo's ears twitched as he listened. Diel'vani began to speak of a tale of a Quel'dorei and Kaldorei who kept in contact after the war. They went about meeting in the most secretive of locations. They were the original wielders of the Vanasi Issilius and the Shalla'drassil. Those two skulls were the first, and were said to be dangerous together. "So listen to me Jidaeo. I am sure the Kaldorei will reveal themselves in your life time. If they do, and you find that skull like you said, find the Kaldorei skull and a kaldorei that can be used to wield it in your name." The old elf explains, "It would be better if you can find one willing to work with you, but it is doubtful since they are done with magic." Jidaeo nods as if recieving an order. He took it to heart, the old elf nods but is saddened by how fast the boy was forced to grow.

"JIDAEO NOVALIGHT!" A shrill female voice calls out, the young elf turns quickly to see his mother. His ears droop to either side. The storm right on their heels now, the wind sings in agony as it is thrown about by the oncoming clouds. The small elf waddles to his mother in the storm, he takes her hand as she ushers him away. Jidaeo turns back looking to his uncle, a sad expression on his face as she pulls him into the shadows under the trees. Diel'vani exhales thinking then speaks to the young elf, words in which he couldn't hear; but Jidaeo who read his lips knew what he said...

- Present day -

"I'm sorry, My son." Jidaeo says to the clouds.

On an island out side the bay on Kalimdor lies a facility, used for the Dawn of Nova. An organization started by Zariel consisting of his council, aids, guards, scouts, doctors, and others to assist him with his term as Nova. As the sun sets, and the waves rock to the beaches a discussion is being held by the Nova and members of his council. His advisor and former instructor Reigen Dawnsend, and her husband Krilari Dawnsend stand by a podium as the young elf paces back and forth plotting for the future. The leader of the Phoenix knights, and public liason for the family, Council mebmer Singerius Highstride sits in the stands alone, intended for those to be briefed. The four elves discussing elven politics.

During this 'war' the rival family The House of Seregon has efficiently stepped out to the Novalight House as a contender. They have attacked and succesfuly killed members, and attacked establishments. They even attempted to slander the young elf's name by attempting to expose his secret relationship with the Human, Annabelle Greene. Zariel had to retaliate fast, his family was losing patience and Zariel was becoming tired of the rules of a politician. His former anger, boiling before subsiding with the weight of his family; his responsibilities. Making a last attempt he spoke up. "...I have an Idea, but it's a tad dishonest." He admits leaning casually against a wall. His arms crossed, with one foot raised against the old wood. The other elves turn to Zariel curious on his reaction.

"....How about we plan a Banquet?" Zariel pushes himself and begins to walk, the other elves watch him, six fel burning orbs drifting in unision. "...We can do it for anything, Philanthropy will work, children, veterans, war efforts. People -love- helping children. We get everyone together... and we plan an attack." Singerius watches closely, as the elf paces. "I never taught you to sacrifice your own." The small dark haired female elf said speaking over the podium she clawed into with her metalic hand. Zariel continues walking, "No...We wouldn't sacrifice anyone, we'd plan it. When everyone came together we would be attacked. It will be better to play the victim in this. We will amass sympathy -and- support. I cannot openly attack the Seregon House. So we will attack ourselves and lead a bread trail to their house." The young elf stops, he exhales looking to the others resembling his father. Singerius nods, as the other two look concerned. "As long as no one gets hurt, I'm serious Zariel." Krilari says. "No one will get hurt... I promise."

The Heir to the Cosmos: The Novalight Dynasty 2

The Sholazar Massacre ( Part 1 )

During the following days time was spent preparing the location, speaking to Magi about portals, catering and of course business with tailors. Zariel stood with his arms spread to either side of him huffing, he was used to the treatment but it was still bothersome. A small elf with pins held in her mouth took his measurements, extending tape with hash markings. She nod eyeing the numbers nodding to a floating parchment and quill. She continues with the measurements, ritualistically calling out commands and directions for Zariel to move. He complied, used to the treatment as well.
After his measurements were recorded he was back out onto the bustling streets of Dalaran.

Magi and other civilians walking to their destinations as the arcane lights glistened in the sky, Zariel headed to the local inn where he had an open tab for the Phoenix Knights. They were a sub-division lead by council member Singerius Highstride, funded by the House of Novalight. They were an elite group of warriors, one of which Annabelle was a ranking member; A captain. During the week, business was being made as usual, Knights would enter and exit; returning and leaving for missions. Zariel was assigned a personal guard by Singerius, one who was in charge of his well being. A kaldorei death knight who called herself Dandy, she was quite efficient with a blade and loyal.

The days flew by as their anticipation for the date increased, Zariel kept the true attention away from Annabelle as they spent time together hidden away on her island. He even stopped by his old Master's place, enjoying being able to tell her what to do for a change. "You can't wear a mask, Reigen. If you don't want to go, then don't. But you -should-." He said nodding to her. The small elf groaned. It was here he finally met Reigen and Krilari Dawnsend's daughter Relandra, their meeting quite comical as their parents would both talk about whose child was the strongest.

"Hey..." Relandra said waving simply.

Zariel nods, the same distant akward greeting. "....Hey."

The two blink to each other, then away. After an update with Reigen he departed, he usually handled business most of the time during the day. Dealing with contacts, ambassadors from other families and businesses as well as paperwork for the family. He efficiently, but quickly moved through his obligations for his time of freedom. His escape with Annabelle who was quickly growing on him, the two had realized their relationship couldn't go public, they would barely aknowledge each other during the bustling Dalaran streets. They could only speak about anything longer than a few minutes when they were alone. Time that began to mean more and more to them as the days passed.

While In Nagrand, the two sat on a floating island, as etheral light stretched across the sky, floating pieces of rock drifted as water fell infinitly from the inside. A majestic dream. This had been the land in which Annabelle's fiance had died many years ago. Something Zariel understood as his own former lover died during Arthas' attack on Silvermoon. He wanted to tell her about his plan, it ached at him and she could tell but he remained quiet. He bit his tongue, as he hated mixing political business with their relationshp. The two continued their conversations, and remained together time undisturbed. Zariel felt he made the right decision but still didn't like lying to some one so kind to him.

The day before the Banquet Zariel and Mastus headed out for Crystalsong forest, Mastus wanted to show his younger cousin something that could help their training. They walked across the fields crunching snow as the violet trees displayed a surreal aura. The two laughed reminising on old times before everything became so complicated. As they traveled they were being followed, they didn't know. The two were attacked by skeletons roaming the field. They were formidable and caught the two elves off guard. Mastus shadow stepping behind one before severing it's arm. Zariel blinking to the side of it, freezing it where it stood. Mastus slashed it as it shatters, leaving the two looking around for more. More were coming; the two split up.

Zariel was attacked while the two were seperated, he was left beaten and bloody face down in the snow. He was missing for hours before Captain Annabelle Greene found him, she called for help as she heard Mastus calling out for Zariel behind her. Zariel was awoken by Annabelle he tried to get up and succeeded after struggling; as soon as he took a step forward he was riddled with a curse, his skin darkening as he colapsed shadow leaking from his body. When the young Nova hit the ground an elf in a dark cloak and wooden mask walked out to them. He stared at them silently.

The cloaked figure wore a wooden mask, with elven design and a black cloak to cover his features. Mastus stood up, the wind taking his hair as Annabelle knelt beside the incapacitated Zariel. "Stay here." He said taking a few steps forward. Annabelle nods looking to Mastus concerned before returning her glance to Zariel. She bites her lip watching him as she begins praying, a yellow dome of light surround them both. The cloaked figure says nothing but claws his hand upwards as flaming rock fall from the sky. Annabelle protects herself and Zariel as the light ripples from the impact. Mastus is hit hard, he rolls into the snow before sinking into the shadows. He reappears behind the elf stabbing him in the back.

The cloaked elf grumbles, swinging his dagger. Mastus blocks it with his blade and slashes at the elf again. The two began a quick exchange of blades as the metal clings together. Mastus begins to quickly shadow step all around the elf, slashing him as he passes. The cloaked elf spins as the slashes tear through his cloak sending blood to jump into the air. As Mastus stops, catching his breath a lumbering Felguard comes from around the corner slamming it's massive Axe into Mastus as he is caught off guard and sent rolling into the other direction.

The warlock takes this time to transform, covering himself with shadow before going through a full demonic metamorphosis. He roars to the sky, Annabelle watches him furrowing her brow, she looks to Mastus concerned before resting her eyes back to Zariel. The demon extended it's wings and charged the elf, Mastus jumped out of the way drawing his blades. As soon as the elf looked up, the Felguard was right in front of him swinging for the his face. Mastus leaned back watching the blade inches away from him, He blocked another attack with his daggers though the force sent him back. He huffed dodging the Felguard and successfully stabbed the demon in the back. He roared once more as fluorescent green blood poured down his dark shadow demon flesh. Enraged he turned around and clawed the elf sending him flying yards back into a small tree which collapsed on him.

The transformation ended as the elf was fatigued. He looked to Annabelle and Mastus and stepped back. He spoke behind a muffled mask. 'I suppose I will try again later." He said disappearing finally in green flames and a loud boom. Ash fell where he stood as the demon descended to the realm he was summoned from. Annabelle stood up and walked over to Mastus who was crawling up from under the tree badly wounded and bleeding. She tended to his wounds, covering him in golden light. "Get Zar somewhere safe! And give him this." Mastus said handing her a vial with black liquid. She loaded the elf on the copter and flew to the floating city. She gave the potion to the young elf monitoring his condition closely.

They took him discretely to an inn in the city. He made it to the room before passing out on the bed. Annabelle watched him worried, as the room was lit by candle light. A knock on the door was heard as she asked who it was paranoid by those after Zariel's life. "It's me." Jidaeo's voice was easily distinguishable. She opened the door and let him in. The death knight stood at the foot of the bed watching his son as he spoke to Annabelle about why he was in that condition. Jidaeo finally turned away from him looking to Annabelle. Another knock on the door was heard, Annabelle looked to Jidaeo seeing if it was alright for him to be seen. He nodded as Mastus entered the room. "Uncle" he nodded to Jidaeo with respect. "Forgive me for foolishly leading Zariel out there. I have failed."

"You both share foolishness, Zariel is able to defend himself. He is reckless." Jidaeo snapped, "But that isn't the reason I am here. I could use your assistance." He stated flatly. "Anything, My Uncle." Mastus responded. Annabelle watched the two elves as she had become accustomed to, when the family spoke about crazy dealings the human was usually left to the side. The old elf walked through the doors. "Come with me, we're heading to Outland." Mastus looked to Zariel one last time before walking after his uncle. Annabelle held a gear tightly in her hands, she placed it next to the table by Zariel. She watched him concerned, uneasy about leaving him alone. She followed the others.

Their travels took them to Shadow Moon valley where they were stopped by five cloaked members of the Kings of the Cosmos. Apparently they had been responsible for kidnapping people in Silvermoon including some members of Jidaeo's own Court of the Dragon. They inquired information about the reasoning of their kidnapping. The cult denied an answer and pleaded to be left alone as it was an accident. The irritated tormentor was past negotiations as he attacked. The battle was fierce yet four were slain, one got away due to Annabelle not wanting to kill him. The cultists were from the Court of the Snake, the ones who had hunted and tortured Captain Avia years before. Jidaeo began investigating the bodies when he found something peculiar in one of their cloaks. An envelope, he opened it and it was an invitation for Zariel's Requiem of Remembrance. This extremist court knew about it and planned on attending. What were their plans?

Jidaeo volunteered to stay in Shadowmoon to search as the others returned to Zariel, with Dandy by his side. They rejoiced as the young elf woke from his sleep, he appeared alright besides being disoriented. Mastus headed out to search for any clues, as Annabelle and Zariel retreated to her island off the shores of Tanaris. It was here they retreated to just be themselves not bound by their titles, it was here Zariel had began training Annabelle on how to sync with the human skull artifact. Here Annabelle watched the young elf on the coast line, the day before the Banquet. She knew of the snake court's possession of the invitation but said nothing as she didn't want to add to his stress. Ironically the elf thought of another attack planned for the banquet. He hopped it would go as planned....( To be continued.)

Zariel woke up early in the morning, he left the old metal house on the island of Tanaris. He looked back only once. He closed his eyes gripping a rune of teleportation and left through the wind to Eversong. As he arrived at his estate he got dressed, cleaned and groomed before heading to Sholazar early to help with the preperations. He wanted the banquet to be successful even if there was to be a planned battle at the end. He watched as the magi summoned chairs and tables from warehouses, conjured food and began inscribing music onto the instruments. He would remember this moment for the rest of his life. And so would those who survived...

Heir to the Cosmos: The Novalight Dynasty 2

The Sholazar Massacre ( Part 2 )

Guests began to pile in from the portal, aristocrats, magisters, nobles and friends. The evening was beginning to shape up better than planned. Zariel was escorted with a female named Adel, he had to keep his public image; she also doubled as a guard to always be at his side if anything were to happen. A mage filled the arcane runes with power as the instruments began to play themselves, slow harmonious melody setting the tone for elegance. The turn out was better than he expected, he enjoyed seeing people he knew as viscious or potententially dangerous come onto his side of the world, the politically correct and civilized. The soft music played under the overlaying ambiance of meshing conversations.

Zariel enjoyed himself as if he wasn't expect the attack, he took Adel around holding her hand and watching her longingly as if he had any affection for her at all. He introduced her to the Dawnsends, smiling as they enjoyed drink and conversations of days in the past. He talked to magisters, dined on the food and even went to dance. He attempted to loosen up the somewhat stiff Kaldorei, Therai with a nice dance. Some elves turned to watch the two in disgust, Zariel didn't mind he enjoyed himself. He even convinced Reigen and Krilari to dance, he snickered at her akwardness. She wore make up to cover her stitches and scars, it had occured to him that maybe she had been a little insecure about her looks. Something he always was brutally honest about since he figured she never did care.

While he mingled the Phoenix knights were on patrol oblivious to what was to come, or what was expected to come. They dressed the part, civilian and unarmed. At least they appeared that way, some kept weapons on their person just in case something happened. They were lucky. When Zariel met Aroes Blackstone in Dalaran hours after attacking the Seregon convoy in Desolace; Aroes had made an offer. He wished to assist the Novalight house, on terms of working together. Aroes had met Jidaeo years ago, and was sorry to hear the elf had died. He asked Zariel if he needed any thing, the young Nova reuested a Zeppelin. One which was to be delivered on the Day of the banquet. The Blackstone family was present, where he briefly discussed the atmosphere with his brother Tavren.

Zariel pulled Dandy aside, he whispered a few things in her ear, and proceeded to his seat. His seat was placed at a table at the head of the platform. Two chairs to either side of him. At either end his cousins, Vylaria Novalight and Mastus Novalight. To his sides, Adel his date, and Reigen, his advisor. He gave a short speech about the war and how everyone was effected and reminded everyone to donate and stay within the perimiter of the guards. After the speech the others by the Nova had returned to crowd, it was time for the attack. Zariel nervously remained in his seat. From high above the incricling ridge stood an elf, in a black cloak. He wore a wooden mask with his hood over it. He peered to the guests, silently. The same elf who attacked Zariel and Mastus the day before. He watched them closely as the last of the screams stiffled to the jungle over the music.

Those at the banquet began to look around, confused. Then another shrill scream let out, something was wrong. It was then they looked to the ridge above them and saw the elf in the black cloak. Soon about fifty others dressed the same circled the ridge staring silently at the partrons. The wind picked up, blowing their cloaks in unision. Soon after something was dropped off the cliff, loose limbs and trailing blood in the air as it landed onto the beach with a soft thud. It sent sand into hte air. Another, then another. One splashing into the water, with another hitting a rock losing form and rolling down below. The objects were the bodies of the Novalight guard, the cloaked figures began to rain the bodies over the edge, the bodies began to fill the beach, and the water tainitng it with their fluids. The attendees began to scream, and run around frantically as the Phoenix Knights stepped into guarding position. Zariel watched in horror as something went horribly wrong. Dandy and Therai stood defensively to either side of him, the elf watched stunned in disbelief.

After the bodies stopped pouring over the edge, the original cloaked elf raised a fist. A barrage of arrows, arcane projectiles and daggers were launched into the air raining down on the platform, tearing through tables, chairs, people, and guards. They dropped quickly, blood dripping from the boards to the water below it. People began running and screaming, being ushered to the portals, some dying on the way, twitching in the body fluids over others on the ground. Zariel's eyes open wide confused. The guests who were able to fight returned fire, using guns or their own inate abilities. A few of the cloaked figures fell to their deaths, or exploded on the ridge. Twenty leaped into hte air, and slow fell to the platform as an intense battle ensued. The claoked elves removed blades and slashed through the fleeing patrons as the some of the guests retaliated defending their lives and the lives of others. The screams were deeafening as they tore through the flesh of the guests. Arcane bolts whizzed by Zariel, most attacks aimed at him were deflected by Dandy. The two sides exchanged a bloody battle. Krilari and Reigen slashed and blasted at those around them, Therai extended her arm blasting elves with black fire.

The two continued killing each other, until the bodies piled on the plank and the wood was slick with blood, the music had stopped by was now replaced with the mixed low groan of dying souls as they writhed in pain guests and attackers alike. The cloaked figures were killed but at a price, the one who initiated the attack was confronted by Mastus, the two had a close fight until Annabelle and Iliel showed up. He was forced to retreat but not without drawing a little blood to be scryed from. He evaporated in green fire.

On the platform everyone was collecting there thoughts, Zariel stood shocked and blood speckled as he looked to the other patrons. "Medic!! I NEED HELP!" someone screamed over the dead bodies, blood thick as syrup as it coated the ground, the decorations were tattered and singed. "Everyone head to a safe place! They may return!" Zariel called out, those still alive began to head for the portal to Dalaran. Zariel left with the Blackstone family to retrieve his Zeppelin. "Phoenix Knights make sure everyone is okay." A person called out, The knights began assisting the wounded, ushering those into the portal as well. Zariel left to Dalaran sailing the air currents on the gift from the Blackstone family, he closed his eyes still trying to understand what happened.

Quote: In the following days things subsided. Zariel spent his time helping the burial and alerting the families of those with lost loved ones. He discussed with the Phoenix knights, plans for the future and was beginning to move passed the devestating tragic failure of the Banquet when things got worse. Zariel was attacked by assasins sent by someone in his family. After killing them he looted the bodies finding instructions to kill him left to someone refered as -A-. Zariel deduced it was the family council member, Agorine Novalight. Zariel was beginning to gather up Knights to kill her, when He was convicted of murder. The Seregon had set him up.

Annabelle's island was attacked by mercenaries from Seregon, her house destroyed and some of her work lost. It sent the Queen idly wandering until stopping in the Shimmering flats. A black gate of smoke opened, wit spiraling purple fire. A death knight exited with hair as white as the moon in the sky. The two spoke about Zariel's arrest, and ways to see him through. There options were low, and things weren't looking good for Annabelle either at the moment. The Seregon had put on a full assault and Zariel still attempted to fight silently, he was loosing and now on trail. The family council didn't feel the house should continue without a Nova even if the selection was temporary. The family was in dire need, so they went to someone they knew and trusted. The last Matriarch the family has had in over centuries, the one the family nicknamed 'The Blood Nova'

Enter Agorine: Killing Season

He offered her to ride his Death charger since she was fatigued, she was heading to Feralas, to the Phoenix Knight base. The two walked discussing their differences in philosphies. The two respected each other but seldomly got along without issues of personal conflict. Although they both shared concern for Zariel, who they both admitted was acting too passive in this situation. There needed something to be done. Zariel had the will to change the family into what it was intended to be, away from corruption but he wasn't quite there yet. Now they had to figure out what they were going to do about his trial. Although it was out of either of their hands.

As they traveled, the base of the Phoenix Knights were already occupied. The Mother of Mastus, and Jidaeo's eldest sister; Naveria Novalight went to inspect the building. She manuvered through the hollow builiding, with idle knights walking around. She nodded to the elven ones, and headed upstairs to a small elf, with blood red hair reading calmly sipping tea by candlelight. The light danced on her, sending wavering shadows of her to the side. "Aunt Agorine, I'm surprised to see you here." Naveria said calmly, the small elf looked over to her. "Ah! Naveria how wonderful to see you." She said smiling while putting the book down. She calmly grabbed the cup of tea, she sipped it carefuly eyeing her neice."I was just looking to see what Zariel's pet army was doing." Naveria added casually. Agorine's smile faded quickly, a stone face glare eyed her neice. "This isn't your nephew's 'pet army'. It was started by Singerius Highstride, he was in Zariel's personal council. He made these knights to accommodate for Zariel's failure as Nova. But seeing how I am the Interim-Nova I am here to make sure things are done -right-." she says callously.

The two discussed plans on going after the Seregon and headed downstairs to the balcony outside. Agorine was tired of waiting, "Alert everyone that this has just gotten serious, I will have Elrohir's head on a platter." She said staring off into the jungle. "I will pay their headweight in gold for these Seregon fools. How dare they attack us?" she says, her composure calm, and chilling. She preaches when she speaks, a richteous zealot. She forms a arcane ring of light above her head to show her 'divinity', it sparkles amongst the muggy jungle. Naveria nods. "Nothing obvious, but I will think of something that will be effective." The small elf nods then turns around. "Good, I will return to pray, I look forward to hearing from you."

"Can't you see your family is eating itself alive!?" The voice of a human female echoes in his ears, along with the creaking wood against the relentless waves of the ocean. The shadows drift as the hanging lantern sways around in the cabin. "Your family is eating itself alive!!" The words ring in his head as clear as the Lich King. It chills him. He shakes his head turning the page, at a lost what to do. He reads, or studies the tale of his ancestor curious on what avenue he would take. Wondering which Novalight now would bring their family warped in turmoil together. He couldn't do it, he has rotted his body and mind too far to lead. He can only support. Diel'vani although his favorite relative, is too old and still publically exiled from the family. He still speaks with the family council, but mainly due to his status in the secret society.

Zariel had his chance and made a good effort, but with the trial he is likely to lose his seat. It may do him some good. All that is left that is in the poistion to do so that -wants- to do so is Aunt Agorine. She is ruthless, and will only submerge our family in to blood, corruption and gold. The death knight continues reading, the boat sways as white hair falls in front of his dark skin; he slowly brushes it away from his face with his thumb. He continues reading, Although his ancestor wasn't a saint he was far from what the family stood for now, though they preached his name. His whole life Jidaeo was fascinated with his ancestor, then obsessed as he compared his life with that of his namesake.

It was then he heard footfalls on the boat, and not from the ghouls tending to the ship. It was another afflicted with Lich's curse. Another of his kin. An elven female approached the doorway armor covering her body, with a mask. Her hair pulled into a ponytail, blonde contrasting the rest of her family; besides her mother. "Father," The knight called out in a hollowed tone. "You've neglected your son again." her voice threads through the sounds of creaking wood. The elf stands up. "I am not neglecting him, there is little I can do for your brother in this situation." The elf says to his daughter. Alteryia Novalight, Jidaeo's oldest daughter. Zariel had harbored hatred to his father causing him to blame for Alteryia's death; he had admired his older sister.

She had returned revealing she too was afflicted with same curse as many of her family. She had returned a year before Jidaeo's departure. He was saddened to see his child, cursed but at the same time relieved. He could relate to a child of his, especially one that shared his efficiency and temperment. Alteryia favored her mother, which Jidaeo told her constantly. The two upon reuniting traveled Azeroth training fighting, killing, bonding the only way they know how. He wasn't sure how Alteryia felt about him, and he saw she lost much of who she was before she was cursed. It didn't matter.

"So what do you plan to do?" His daughter's voice snapped him back into the cabin, the rambling thoughts of a father ceased. "I will see how the trial plays out, your Grand Aunt Agorine is the Interim-Nova now." He says looking to her, the light sways above them. Alteryia turned to her father blankly. "I have a thought."

The Blood Apprentice

Agorine had remained stopped by the Phoenix Knights base in Feralas to see if any progress had been made. She hadn't heard from Naveria and needed an update on the Seregon situation. Agorine had wasted no time as the Interim-Nova. She had already re-established contacts and activated those of her former cabinet that were still alive. She planned deals, and appointments meeting abassadors of other families, she was a natural. Agorine knew she was getting old, her time had passed but she had been disapointed in the generations to follow hers, besides a select few. Naveria and Renorien were prime candidates for Nova. Although they were unavailable, Naveria was Nova and no longer wanted the position, Renorien remains in jail for triyng to poison Zariel.

An armored Knight had approached the compound, blond hair tailing behind her head. Agorine hadn't recognized her great neice at first until they began speaking. Agorine had aknowledged Alteryia's talents when she was younger, she was efficient but was the daughter of a blaspheme. She prayed to the light, that this daughter wouldn't suffer his curse. Somethings were just meant to be, she wasn't surprised when Jidaeo was cursed, or his wife. But those around him returned from the icy contentent deformed in body and soul. It was what they deserved.

Alteryia had proved herself to be the opposite of what Agorine had expected, as the young elf stood up to Annabelle and other Phoenix Knight's in the Nova's defense. The Phoenix Knights didn't always enjoy the company of the arrogant family, but since they were funded by the Novalights, the family continued to oversee with Singerius missing. Annabelle began to become frustrated with being pulled in many different directions and still concerning herself with Zariel's trial. She had little time and patience to deal with his racist, psychotic family. Agorine and Alteryia left the island to the mainland of Feralas, she wanted to test the young elf. During their travels and upon their meeting Alteryia denounced her father and brother for their foolish ways. She despised them for their failures and selfish desires, she wanted no association with their mistakes. She wanted to save their generation, she would become the perminant Nova.

An interesting thought, Agorine was getting old, if she could train someone of the new generation to be as ruthless, unforgiving and efficient as she was she could die knowing her family was headed into the right direction. The light's will would be caried out. The two traveled until they reached an old arching stone bridge, probably made before their family was founded, or their people existed. The water rushing over the edge into the river below as it always had done for milenia. The small elf stopped, the large sword rested nicely on her back. She looked up, "So you wish to be Nova?"

Without warning the small elf gripped her hilt, and swung it horizontaly her lips pursed. Alteryia quickly raised her spear blocking the blade with the handle. She jumped back surprised, she then sneered spinning the spear and stabbing the blunt end on the ground. The ground began to darken with rot, then boil, before spreading out towards the small elf quickly. Surprised, the elf began to pray. "Light, grant me the grace to be your beacon.." She began as light began to flicker around her. "For I will walk the path of righteousness to slay the afflicted." Her prayer becoming preeching as the light stopped the boiling but spread out around her, illiuminating the cracks in the ground with pure light. Alteryia jumped back dodging as well.

Agorine grunted as her neice as Alteryia extended her palm towards her. A tendril of shadow racing towards her. "Protect me from the shadow, illuminate me with your strength." She prayed as glyphs of light extended from her feet. With her shadow resistance, she swung a slash with her sword burning with golden fire dispelling the tendril. The two continued fighting, and the match was close as the two exchanged blades, sparks of light raining between them. The Knight of Light and the Knight of darkness clashed sending each other flying back. Alteryia shook her head, the blonde hair bouncing behind her; face hidden behind the mask. Alteryia spun the spear once more as she ran after the small elf. She extended the blade towards the small elfs face. Agorine tilted her head to the side, losing red strains of hair instead of blood. She gripped her sword, swinging quickly towards 'sAlteryia midsection; the death knight jumped back blocking, drifting backwards before her sabatons grind to a stop.

Alteryia attempted to boil her aunt's blood but it didn't work. She could see Agorine concentrating to combat the spell, brow furrowed, eyes closed. She used this instant to fire a plague bolt. Agorine's eyes shot open as she was impacted in the chest, the elf flew back crashing onto the bridge, coughing. Her skin darkening under her armor. The elf got to her feet, coughing. Her expression was displeased, silent rage as she began preeching loudly to the the light. Alteryia raised her guard preparing for an attack, as Agorine called the light around her, glowing ethereal golden wings extending from her back. The elf finished her sermon and exhaled, she ran after the death knight swinging her blade in a divine storm, as light illuminated her body and her sword sparking light around Alteryia at every hit. The death knight was overwhelmed and knocked to the ground.

Agorine, pushed to her limit slowly walked to the knight. Her same stone faced expression peering down at Alteryia.

"You will make a fine, Nova......"

An elf kneels by the fire, watching the fire writhing to the air killing life. He admires its selfishness, but isn't that way. The wood pops, as the glow of the over hanging mushrooms casts light to some of the most bizarre creatures he has ever seen. He had to get away, he was excited to see his friends, and his family. Until he saw how they treated him. They were happy for him, but did they pity him? He shook his head, staring at the fire. No, of course not. he told himself. He furrowed his brow as he remained unconvinced.

-24 hours before-

The Wavering Light

Zariel had been released from court, with the verdict in his favor. Even though he knew he deserved to be free, he felt as if he acheived something, or earned a new outlook on life. He was ready to lead, with ferocious vitality, Seregon was over. He walked with a swollen stride, the patrons of Silvermoon, looking to the elf, nodding; whispering. Slowly Zariel's confidence began to leak, a pin hole in a zeppelin balloon. He arrived to the estate in eversong. His family applauded his return, some of his cousins and guards walking up to him hugging, and welcoming him back. Zariel smiled, as an old elf stood far in the back away from the crowd. He was one of the family council members who inducted Zariel.

Zariel knew the matter was serious, he had already been informed of Agorine being the Interim-Nova. This appeared to be serious, and urgent. Zariel continued welcoming everyone, before politely excusing himself, he walked through the patchy shadow of light poking through the leaves from the trees high above. He walked over to the old elf as he was ushed inside. The small group of relatives observed, then dispersed about their buisness.

"Zariel...We need to talk." The old elf said, as he sat down on a velvet cushion, smoke leaving his mouth as he spoke. He placed the pipe from the hookah on his lap. Zariel looked up, hiding his growing worry, the pin hole still leaking confidence slowly, but consistently. "You were a good Nova, we raised our public outlook, gave back more and still remained relatively profitable. You're young and have a ways to go, but is definitely a step in the right direction." Zariel looked to the elf surprised, a smile growing on his face. "...However." Zariel's eye lid twitches, still leaking. "...You have also brought more than a far share of unfavorable attention. Also with this issue going on with the House of Seregon we require more retaliation for their insults. "Agorine as you know has been Nova before and is quite ruthless. She will get to the bottom of this. I need you to stay away from the family for a little while. Or at least from the public eye. I'm sure you understand." Zariel nods, hurt. "I understand sir." He says smiling.

He appears with an arcane pop in old ruins around Nagrand. Annabelle had been there idly passing time. The two reunited, briefly alone before those wishing to speak to either appeared. First the Phoenix Knight Illiel Silverdawn, then his own Aunt, Naveria Novalight and finally his friend and adviser Reigen. All of them happy or relieved to some degree to see the elf, but all of them looked down to the elf, spoke to him as if a child. He didn't mind at first, just enjoying the company....but it began to bother him. Over and Over again, he spared with Iliel, surpassing what she expected and still condescending words left her lips. Or at least that's how it felt.

Naveria returned, and insulted Zariel openly about his failures as Nova. For being trapped with little evidence, for being a fool. He said nothing as Annabelle and Illiel urged him to look up to Naveria as he kept his gaze on the ground. He still wished to show respect even if he was given none, not of subservience. When things were reaching their peak, Reigen appeared. She displayed an irregular benevolence, offering the elf a hug. He hesitantly walked over and hugged her.

"<That one makes Zariel act like a boy.>"

The pine hole ripping slightly, but instead of leaking confidence he was now leaking patience. He continued to hug Reigen before stepping back. "<I need to talk to you.>" She said looking up to him. "<Better than making him feel like dung, like you do>" Annabelle responded to Naveria in thalassian. Zariel nodded to Reigen, as Illiel, Annabelle and Naveria argued in the ruins of Nagrand. Reigen and her pupil walked to a bridge and began talking about resuming his training. She challenged him to survive on his own, avoiding major cities and living off of the world doing things for himself.

Zariel was a rather soft person at his heart, being spoiled most of his life, and taken care of as a noble. Others tended to look after the elf, because of his innocence or what was interpreted as such. Zariel was just becoming accustomed to things he wasn't used to. He needed grow, and surviving on his own would help shape his mind that way. He agreed, and Reigen taught him some basics, preparing hunted food and guidelines to go by.

He told Annabelle about his new journey and began to prepare. She wished to go on a journey as well, they had missed each other. Zariel agreed and the two left, with simple supplies, Zariel decided to take the training a step further, no magic unless absolutely necessary. Except to start fires. Things went well until Zariel ran out of patience. Zariel lit a campfire with magic, and Annabelle dispelled it. The two went back and forth dispelling and lighting the fire as Zariel questioned her motive. "You will not eat until you light it with out magic." He arched a brow to her. "I will eat if I want to." His patience depleted. "...So.." He relights it, as she sits against a large mushroom sighing at him. "...You aren't in charge of this, or me. You are just here. Sometimes it's like you don't respect me." She looks to him. "I am just trying to help you, If I didn't respect you I wouldn't be here trying to help you. You just need to mature. I love you." the words ineffective at the moment. "I need to mature? -You- need to mature? Who do you think you are?!" the argument escalated before Zariel left.

Upon his return Reigen approached displeased with his human companion. Annabelle had wandered off by this time the two of them spoke. "So how is the company out here?" Reigen asked grimly, Zariel nodded as he began cleaning a large fish, removing the usable meat like Reigen had showed him. "A bunch of wasps and air squids." He shrugs. "<I meant the human, she follows you didn't she?> Reigen said watching him. He shruged. "She always follows me." He began skewering the meat on the pole, he set it above the fire.

Well this might as well be a failure before it even gets started...

What? how?

The human is going to assist you, it isn't really survival now is it.

She isn't going to help me, You already said the rules, No light.

How do I know she won't help you if your in danger or heal youir wounds.

Because...I just told you she won't.

Zariel was once again at his wits end. He raised his voice losing his composure, he screamed, he cursed, he even attacked her with a ice bolt. The small elf didn't retaliate. Zariel angrily yelled back, as she seemed to look down on him to. She thinks she's better than me, I can tell. She even told him his father didn't think he could even do survival training, but Reigen thought he could, but didn't believe he was doing it correctly. With everything piling on the poor elf he broke down. He know contemplates his next move staring at the wavering light, bitter; jealous.

It was hard to determine the time of day in Zangarmarsh. The clouds, the constant blue, and the soft glow from nearly every plant and animal rendered the position of Outland’s sun moot. Somehow, the fauna knew. Most of them were nocturnal, the phosphorescent appendages very useful at night. Mating, scaring off the larger of their neighbors. The largest of the mushrooms almost served as suns or moons, the large glowing sacks protruding from their gills shining down on the spongy ground.

Under one of these laid a young human woman. She had followed Zariel Novalight into the marsh from Nagrand after he announced he was to undergo a different kind of training. He must learn to survive in the wilds for an unknown amount of time. The woman assumed he had to trek from Nagrand to Eversong. Made sense. She currently held the task of keeping watch over their camp while Zariel trekked off into the buzzing humidity in search of tools, or food (he seemed hungry at the drop of a hat), or…who knew what else. She had let him be alone for a while after they left their previous camp, at which they had a spat. She wished him to light a fire normally, with the spark of rocks. He wanted magic. He accused her of thinking him a child. She retorted he did need to grow. They sulked silently. They made up and sat cuddled by the fire.

After wandering on her own, reacquainting herself with the land, she found Zariel again. At the end of a heated argument it seemed, a small, darkly dressed elf vanishing just after she approached. She had little opinion of the female. She seemed dressed as if to scare off others, or impress them with the clothing’s patterns and glowing runes. The little elf’s passion for killing and pain bothered her. Herself, she saw no point in extravagant retribution for pain done unto her. End the threat and be done with it, if they wished death upon oneself, and acted. Oh, well. If Zariel wished her around and liked her, she would not comment.

The young human woman listened as Zariel ranted about his teacher chastising him for keeping herself around. She stated it was the little elf’s problem if she saw anything wrong with it. She could confront her, if she wished. The young human woman found the idea of solitude silly. It was her view that no one ever survived alone. Even the wild wolves, so admired for their apparent “loneliness” moved and lived in tight knit packs. Even the street urchin, or feral child will seek solace in whatever they can find. Be it some object they have given an identity, or a pack of stray dogs. What is the point? She wondered Of casting Zariel out here, alone, when his family has done that to him his whole life? They surround him in riches, and curtains, and perfume, expecting servants to raise him. Servants, that would sooner swipe a bauble of his to sell off, or betray him with, than give him an honest, kind word. Their front is smiles and pleasantries, their back snide remarks and a dagger. He has always been alone. Even his cousin, Mastus, is closed off despite his love for him. Everyone in that excuse for a family is, and they won’t do anything to fix it. Gold runs in their veins. Not blood.

She holds back her tirade, letting Zariel curse and rant. The human woman swore not to baby him out here. There is a difference between teamwork and dependency, she stated to him previously. She would see him overcome his limits, his golden chains. She accepted the limits on magic as well, surviving as he does. He would learn the value of his station and resources, but he would not become a lost savage. She would be here for ideas, a wall to bounce his thoughts off of after a hunt. Perhaps he would come to his senses when they smacked him in the face in their ricochet out in the wastes. The pure, empty echo finally clearing his head.

I love you. And I will endure with you. I promised that.

The young human woman gazed out at Ratchet from the promontory upon which the town’s inn sagged. She thought back on she and Zariel's journey thus far while he had wandered off. She and he had ventured here from Booty Bay, continuing the elf’s trial and experience in Kalimdor. Their path was still generally aimless, but it had been decided their next stop was Stonetalon. Ashenvale was far too dangerous. Not only was the border in tumult, but Kaldorei sentinels were always slinking just beneath the tranquility of the ancient forest. Learning survival was one thing, but venturing there was outright foolishness.

Another task gnawed at the back of their minds: learning the ways of the crystal skulls Zariel’s family had been hunting since his great uncle was patriarch. She had been entrusted with one, the human skull, and learned to meditate and sync with it quickly. Zariel possessed the sin’dorei. Much to the woman’s displeasure, Therai Nightglade was given the kaldorei skull. She bore no hatred for the kaldorei-but-not, but she knew her craving for knowledge and power. Therai had displayed loyalty up until now, but who knew what would happen with this relic present. What she might do if it was taken away from her, after she saw its power.

Foolish. Perhaps I am overprotective, being a Queen, but…is she even sane?

A new aspect of the skulls had been revealed: resonating. When turned into any of the relics, they would hear something like a flute. Its tone and pitch would change depending on your skill with it. The young human woman was instructed by Jidaeo Novalight to learn more about this, what it meant practically. There had been little time to sit down and research this until Zariel’s journey. When there was, something unexpected happened.

…Our minds nearly touched. I should have expected something like this. Who knows what happens beyond that.

He was so angry…

Indeed, the young human woman had figured out resonating just as quickly as she learned to synchronize with the relic. She had decided to meditate near Zariel while he had his skull, with no intention of resonating at all. Thankfully, her affinity for the Light and time spent battling Shadow had rendered her mind skilled with its defenses. The sudden rush of his emotions only took her off guard a moment or two. Without thinking, she had tried to reach out to him. Or perhaps the skulls pulled and pushed their consciousnesses together. Either way, the connection broke right when the elf’s anger was boiling, leaving him fuming the rest of the day.

Exactly why he has trouble with transmutation. This anger needs to be molded. Not hidden from, and not allowed to drive him to chaos.

Balance.

Zariel refused to try again, telling her to practice this with Therai. The young woman dismissed the idea entirely, wanting to develop both her and his skills before they tackled her consciousness. She then apologized for the accidental mental link, and let him steam while they traveled to Kalimdor.

I haven’t heard any word from my Court, or Jidaeo, or Diel’vani about Court happenings. I suppose nothing’s changed. I pray these things remain secret.

But, I suppose it’s only a matter of time before Seregon finds one. Or something similar. Or worse.

With that, she pushed off the railing, stood, and strode off to the find the elf noble. They still had many footsteps to go before they found himself.

((Yes, I used the last Harry Potter theme. Come at me Squirrel.))

An elf knelt in prayer in a dark room, her feet pressed together resting on top of elven tapestry. Her red hair slightly illuminated by the wavering flames of the candles to either side of her. The only light illuminating the large room. Her eyes closed as she whispered to her self, praying to the light. A knock was heard on the door as the small elf's eyes opened abruptly. She stared to the door angrily as a vertical line of light from the outside cut through the darkness expanding as a door was opened. "Nova, If I could have a moment please." As the silhouette of another elf was presented, Agorine's scowl faded into a benevolent smile. Her advisor would only interrupt her prayer if the information was crucial. It wouldn't be wise to ignore her.

"It appears as if one of our investments in Gagetzan is being targeted by unknown individuals trying to pursuade them to stop doing business with us. We have reason to believe it is the Seregon House. We have stopped two of their shipments from reaching Eastern Kingdoms however. Any plans?"

"Bring me Elihanara Seregon...Kill the rest. I have a present for Elrohir"

"As you wish, my Nova."

"Bring me Alteryia...and How is young Zariel doing?"

Heir to the Cosmos: The Novalight Dynasty 2

The Pilgrimage

Zariel's travels had led him half across the world, over many weeks he began in Dalaran, slowly but surely snow balling a sense of self aware-ness. He was finally becoming independent of all of the spoils of his noble birthright. Zariel was a very strong spirit but dulled to the luxuries over centuries of pampered living. After a rude awakening, he used his magic to hunt and support him in his travel. Often times after setting up a camp site, he would wonder around in the wilderness. He'd stop when he found a tranquil area, there he would stay in meditation expanding his arcane intellect. He and Annabelle had a few differences in the philosphy of the training, but traveled endlessly under the starlight. Many nights were spent around a circle of rocks, with a wavering flame consuming tender and large logs. As the light danced across their faces they discussed their philosophies on everything from life to colors, or just as many nights they sat in silence keeping their thoughts and feelings to themselves.

Zariel was under the direct tutelage of two arcane instructors. The warmage, and ex-headmaster of a prestigious arcane academy; Edgar Barlton and Zariel's personal and family friend Reigen Dawnsend. Periodically, the two would teleport to his location checking on his progress. Here Zariel was instructed on things to work on during the Pilgrimage, Reigen instructed him on how to strengthen his concentration during spell casting. He was to channel arcane and keep this going while being distracted, his meditation helped but he still had a ways to go. Over the weeks Zariel began to feel more independant, and was invigorated by it. Annabelle becoming a witness to the old elf maturing before her eyes, it wasn't a quick fix however.

Spoiler:

One day overlooking a large cliff in Howling Fjord, they were approached by a visitor. Therai Nightglade, the wielder of the Shalla'drassil. The three of them discussed as the night elf hadn't had a chance to speak with Zariel since he was proven innocent. The three stood in the short grass over looking the water far below. The wind pulled at the three of them as they all discussed their purpose and that it was fate that brought the three of them together. Zariel had given the skull to Therai but she still had yet to be instructed in it's activation. Under the singing birds the three of them sparred in the field introducing her to the practice of the fighting with it. Like Annabelle, Therai had been a natural although not as keen with it's use as Annabelle they both started better than Zariel had.

From Northrend he finally traveled to Azeroth and over many more weeks he traveled from Tirisfal to Hammerfall. From there he reunited with Annabelle in the wetlands, since they had to seperate due ot their factions. The two traveled further south before finding an old troll camp in Stranglethorn. Zariel began to become restless, wondering about his family and their dealings with the Seregon House. Many nights his meditation ended abruptly with visions of his home on fire. Sometimes he had even conjured the portal to Eversong, after Annabelle slept. He remained dedicated to Reigen's tutelage although she disagreed with him having company. He owed a lot to her and vowed to be all he could as her student to make her proud.

As the crickets and jungle nightlife resumed their hyms the young elf sat in the center of what appeared to be an ancient summoning alter. Here he stood in a cloak summoning arcane, concentration in a deep meditation as Reigen had instructed him much earlier. On his lap the Vanasi Isilius, a milk white crystal skull; anatomically correct in every detail as an average Quel'dorei/Sin'dorei skull. He sat still for hours, thinking of the future. He had not forgot about Seregon and this 'war' was far from over.

The Embers of Retaliation

Weeks ago, Vylaria Novalight was murdered. It was suspected to be someone of the Seregon family, and it was a hard loss for Zariel to take. He heard the news once he got out of jail, something he often thought about while meditating in the wilderness. Zariel was young, but Vylaria was even younger than he was, her death was a tragedy and an eye opener on how real this war was. He still wandered aimlessly, over the Barrens of Kalimdor. Annabelle had left to Dalaran, to offer her services as a priest. Zariel often wondered what kind of a Nova would let his family die, although he was away while it happened he still felt responsible. He figured his training would make up for it. He vowed not to let anyone down, since Alteryia... yet he failed again.

Up north two armored female Novalights rode in the snow, crunching beneath the hooves of their mounts. Alteryia and Agorine discussed advanced military tactics and overviewed the history of the Novalight Shin'ari. The two sparred relentlessly in the snow fields of Winterspring, before retiring into a cabin, if only for Agorine. She was in good shape, but she was old and aware of it. She sat in the cabin, sipping tea. The smoke steaming from the cup, that she held inches away from her lips. "Alteryia..." She said softly, the death knight turned to her, blinking behind the Metalic mask. "When you become the Nova you must remember to do what is in the best interest of the family. Always." she says quietly. She tilts the cup to her lips sipping the tea.

Spoiler:

"I will not make the same mistakes as my brother and father." She said flatly, a metallic undertone mingling with her voice. "Good. Because we have a large mess to clean up." She sets the cup down and walks to Alteryia. "I also have something I need for you to do." The small elf looks up to the large Death Knight. "Yes, Aunt Agorine." She responds looking forward. "I believe your brother is plotting something..." She begins. "Because he's away from the family?" Alteryia questions. "Yes. It's odd." Agorine says, despite knowing the council requested his departure. "He has something that belongs to the family, a crystal item. Perhaps if you see him you can retrieve it. If he uses it against the family it would be quite dangerous. He'll probably trust you so maybe he'll give it to you." Alteryia nodded. "Anything else?" Agorine shook her head. "Magi will be awaiting you in Everlook. He is on Kalimdor, keep an eye on him." Alteryia nodded, exiting the cabin.

In Dalaran many elves stood gathered around the awakening of a young Novalight. With Annabelle's aid Vylaria had been ressurected. She slowly rubbed her eyes surprised to see everyone there. Her Uncle who was believed to be dead stood at her bed side, he different than she remembered but it was him. His tan skin, now dark and corrupted with shadow, his fine dark hair now jet white contrasting loudly against his complexion. Jidaeo's eldest son, Thalion had arrived as well, he had been Jidaeo and Cerice's son for four hundred years before Zariel was born. Thalion looked much like his father, he was introduced to Reigen, and the others. They stood waiting for Vylaria to come around. As he witnessed his eldest brother's daugheter in such a weak form he began to become frustrated. He was prepared to go on the offensive against the Seregon. The time was now. He spoke with Vylaria briefly reassuring her everything was going to be alright and then asked Thalion and Reigen to step outside.

They walked down the arcane streets and discussed the future. Elrohir and the Seregon, had crossed the line long ago and Zariel hadn't made an honest effort to retaliate. Jidaeo felt he could no longer remain in the background if Zariel was still training. Reigen said he wasn't ready to come back yet, and Jidaeo trusted her. Thalion was instructed to keep an eye on his younger brother, and keep their siblings together. He nodded, knowing the responsibilities of the first born. Jidaeo left Zariel's training up to Reigen. He departed through a death gate, into a doorway of shadowflames. It closed behind him quickly.

Thalion had arrived in The Barrens days later, looking for his brother. He had arrived in Ratchet, the goblin port town to restock on supplies and acquire information. Outside the city oblivious to this sat Annabelle Greene, meditating on a hilltop. She had returned, surprised that Zariel had not been where he was, nor did he visit her after she returned. Her meditation was interupted by a tall elf in a white cloak she was most familiar with. He had the tattoo of a dragon, he was sent by Jidaeo. He nodded. "My King wishes to speak with you, Your Highness." She looked up to him blinking. She sighed standing up, brushing herself off. "Very well, lead the way." As they traveled to the town, they picked up Thalion Novalight and Iliel Silverdawn who were also requested to meet with Jidaeo. They met with a mage wearing the same cloak as Yeveryn, he opened a portal that sent them to a boat.

The boat was already en route to an unspecified location, the boat of elven design cut through the water rather quickly. They all appeared causing arcane pops. Yeveryn lead them to a platform where Jidaeo sat calmly. Upon their arrival he stood and removed his hood. He told them he had summoned them for their assistance in retrieving something for him. It was a was called the Kala'tufi the Ebon Zandali skull hidden with a shadow priest somewhere in some ruins in Tanaris. He tried to be descrete on the details, and sent them off through another portal to the entrance to the fallen empire.

They traveled into the night and were attacked by trolls, many paces in. They hid from the walls and attacked them with darts and spears. The sand was tainted by blood and limbs, but the party continued. They witnessed the sacrifical alters, and were disturbed by its use. The corpses still remained, wrists, and throats slit with a wooden stake through the forehead. They traveled on dodging traps, and fighting through more trolls on patrol; until reaching a small camp with an elf unconcious in a cave. Upon her rescue, they took her to one of the tents and woke her up. She was startled at first but revealed she was an archeologist on an expedition that got captured two months ago. She warned them that most of the trolls were away, and the shadow priest had remained behind. As the elf spoke shakily under the tent in the moonlight, more trolls came. The fighting began to fatigue the party further, fortunateley they had a light weilder with them for their wounds. The elf left, not wanting to stay in the ruins a second longer. The party headed on, towards what appeared to be the main courtyard at the foot of a large temple.

Spoiler:

They assumed they were being watched and they were. A troll hovered high above the rocks looking down at them behind his mask before returning to the temple. They climbed many stairs before reaching the top of the alter. The troll hovered above the stone, asking them what they were doing in these ruins. Confused the party hesitated, and the troll struck first raising a wall of shadow flame and pushing it forward. It knocked Yeveryn, Annabelle and Thalion tumbling back as Iliel withstood it, reaching out to grab him with a shadow claw of her own. The troll drifted to the side, trailing blurred shadow images of himself in the air. He grumbled before firing more bolts at the group. Finally he was caught by a death grip and snatched from the air onto a spear. He pulled himself off of it floating back dodging an electrical charge from the runic tip. He swayed to the left as Thalion jumped in the air attempting to slash the troll. He inhaled deep releasing a shrill scream into the heads of the fighters. Yeveryn stumbled back and was hit with a shadowbolt, he tumbled all the way down the stairs his body limp and bouncing before stopping in the sand below. He didn't move from the location.

The fight was just beginning but the troll with the help of the Kala'tufi was holding his own. Even forcing Annabelle to use her own skull, The troll drifted down the steps attempting to do something to Yeveryn when two cloaked figures appeared beside the troll. The other members of the party stopped, familiar with the white cloaks that had helped them port around so far. "Ha, it's about time help showed up." Thalion said; Annabelle watched closely unsure. The troll looked to the two cloaked figures confused as well unaware of who they were. "Come with us! Quickly!" They shouted opening a portal, One cloaked figure jumped in, ushering the troll to follow. The troll jumped through the etheral window as well as the other caster. It closed up behind them, leaving them bruised and baffled at the sight. They looked around staggering confused, Yeveryn was healed slowly coming to. Their mission was a failure. "Who was that? I thought they were on our side?" Iliel asked. Annabelle slowly shook her head, crossing her arms. "No...I think they were from the court of the Serpent."

Quote:Zariel's training was concluded, due to a call made by Jidaeo. Zariel's pursuers were resuming action as that of the Seregon subsided. He was instructed by Reigen to remain in populated cities to stray from fighting, but during his meditation in the plains of MUlgore he was found and outnmubered. The elf was taken into custody and placed under a heavy yet temporary mind altering spell. Jidaeo and Annabelle were alerted after an attack on Jidaeo's 'life' in Tanaris. The two decided to split up, Jidaeo was to go after the Seregon, and Annabelle was to find Zariel. She found him in abandoned catacombs and fought with the former Nova as he had no control over his body. The spell was broken and the elf collapsed. After inspection Annabelle found a small black box.

The wooden box, was made of a dark wood or panted black. It was engraved with elfish designs and intricate as the mask worn by the elf who attacked the banquet. The lines and contours were painted carefully, it obviously took some time or dedication to make. Upon opening the golden clasp there would be a folded letter on a silk red stuffing, extra fabric.

Reader

If you've found this, Zariel didn't kill you. Either you killed him, or found a way around the spell. Which I commend you for. This is a warning, what arcane and zandali practices can conjure. I will continue doing as I please, and will continue tracking the elf. He will be dyed in my color and will assist me in the future willingly. Things are in motion, things you cannot conceive. I know everything about him. We're very close. If he is alive...which I assume he is. Tell him he has far bigger problems than the House of Seregon. Tell him he will work for me or I will kill everyone he is close to, and enslave him under the ritual permanently. As I've shown, I have no issue locating him.

I suggest compliance, for the sake of the Novalight children, and women. For the sake of his loved ones, the foolish human and his siblings. Or for the sake of his own life. However, although these threats are very real, I'd like to do this without slaughter. Keep in mind I know all of his enemies, and have friends of my own. It will be nothing to overwhelm him with their union. Here in the box are two chess pieces and an arcane hour glass. A black knight and a white bishop. The glass, slowly leaks sand and will for forty eight hours. Depending on when you get this, you will be able to determine how much time you have left. When you do, have him mail me one of the pieces back to the following mailing address. If he wishes to work with me, mail the black knight. If he refuses; the white bishop. We will keep in touch.

Zariel was taken to the base in Feralas, a base for the Phoenix Knights purchased by The Warmage and ex Headmaster; Edgar Barlton. When he slowly regained consciousness he read the letter and decided to willingly go to the captor. He wasn't the Nova so his life held little meaning against the weight of the rest of the family and he didn't want to see anymore die. There was too much bloodshed. Too much pain that he failed to protect. He had gotten stronger for himself, but he took too much time to do it. It was only right he sacrifice himself, maybe it was his father's blood running through his veins. But he finally understood wading in the darkness for others. He would do anything for them....He felt responsible for it all. When he was well he teleported to Northrend. He had been gone for several days.

The Ultimatum

Zariel's initial plan was to get close to this person, and to overthrow him. He attempted, but was quickly outnumbered by other elves wearing hand crafted wooden masks and cloaks. After a bombardment of felfire he was locked into a cage, unconscious. He woke up bleeding, yet bandaged. He shakily staggered to his feet, as the cold stone floor chilled his bare toes. The elf who attacked the banquet stood before him, wooden mask covering his features. A large demon swaying behind him. "Zariel....I don't want to kill your family. But I will. There are two projects that you will help me with." Zariel grumbles. "Why don't you do them yourself, or with all the others you have. What do you need me for?" The wooden mask's shadow dances over the designs as torch light flicker around them. "The Skull, and your knowledge of it will be of use." He says plainly. "I don't have it...I didn't bring it with me because I figured you probably wanted it." He smirks weakly surprised he was right. "I see" the masked elf responded.

Spoiler:

The demon stepped forward speaking a language Zariel couldn't understand. The masked elf extend his arm to his side, palm facing behind him towards the demon; fingers spread out. The demon yielded, "So I take it you wish to be difficult about this?" Zariel blinks, and grips the cage. "If you wish to kill me do it, Or if you have something more important do that. I don't have what you want, I'm not the Nova my life has little worth now." He says openly, his long auburn hair swaying behind him. His chest heaves, wrapped in bloody bandages. "You have access to things I need. for my plan. However I secondly wish for you to help me kill Seven people. If you help me do this, and acquire the things I need. I will leave you alone. You have my word." Zariel watches him closely. "And if I refuse...?" The masked elf sighs the light flickering over the extravagant design. "As I said... I will kill your family. If I have to...But I do hate killing our people. I know... I'll kill that human you're always with." He says his voice picking up. Zariel's eyes open wide surprised by the suggestion. The elf outside the cage turns around. He points to cloaked figures, their masks just as intricate yet different. "Prepare to summon me here, in seventy-two hours." He walks passed his demon with his own cloak flapping from his movements. He points to another. "I need a portal to Kalimdor, right away." The figure nods. Zariel blinked slowly at how quickly the situation had changed. He sat in the cage hanging his head, his hair swaying slowly in his lap.

- Three Days Later-

The masked figures huddled together chanting in a ritual over a runic design. A large pop then crackle was heard as a large demon appeared spreading it's wings. Fel energy sparking over it's body, in his hand was a human female. He dropped her to the ground. He nodded turning around to the elf as Annabelle had awakened. They spoke briefly, and she tried to challenge him, weakened from the fight before she was kidnapped. The elf had no need to restrain her since she was so out numbered. He returned his gaze to Zariel. "I am now going to ask for your coorperation. If you lie to me, I will harm her, if you lie again I will dismember parts from her. If you lie again I will kill her, and place you under permanent control." Annabelle mumbles something before a Felguard turns around to shove a metal boot into her small wounded stomach. Zariel's eyes open wider. "Anna!" The masked elf shakes his head. "So pitiful, how weak you are for this human. Who has the skull?" He asks once more. "I don't, I told you...I left it some place." The masked elf tired of this at this point simply turns around drawing his blade. He walks towards Annabelle briskly. "...Ag- Agorine Novalight has it." He says exhaling closing his eyes and leaning his head against the cage. The masked elf turned around promptly as he had days before. Another portal was opened and he stepped through. Zariel knew his aunt wouldn't be taken on so easily, he even figured that this elf would be killed by his aunt and he'd be released shortly. He was more concerned about Annabelle, he wanted to do this alone without getting anyone involved. He shouldn't have tested the waters so long.

-The Next Day-

Jidaeo had found out about the Box his composure was slipping. He left for Azshara to Reigen's tower. He approached her as she sat at her desk, books and scrolls all around. Idle cats wandering through the tower, rubbing their backs and cheeks against corners, and tables. Some even over Jidaeo's cold armor. He informed her of the message and Zariel's disappearance, he asked her if he had left the skull with her. Reigen looked to Jidaeo confused, the last she had spoke with Zariel she told him to stay in the main cities and remain incognito. She brushed some objects off her desk and formed a glass slate of ice on the desk. Conjuring magic she looked into it, as the reflection was not of her own, but her student bandaged in a cage. Jidaeo recognized his son, and nodded to Reigen the two left at once. After trekking through the tundra for hours, a temperature that didn't bother either of them the stopped atop a hill and looked to the sky. An abandoned Necropolis, occupied by the culprit. They stared up at it, preparing their onslaught.

Quote: The two had swiftly ascended to the abandoned necropolis, and moved around rather quickly. To Jidaeo's surprise Annabelle had been there. She debriefed them quickly as they were led to Zariel who was trapped in the cage. He warned them, he made his choice to keep everyone out of it. He knew what he was doing, despite that Jidaeo wished him to be 'rescued' and then they were attacked. The attackers were the same as those who attacked the banquet. They outnumbered Reigen, Annabelle and Jidaeo. After Zariel lost his patience with his father and told them to leave for their own good Reigen opened a portal to Dalaran.

In Dalaran, she revealed to Jidaeo and Annabelle that she knew who the masked elf was. The one who killed all those innocents during the Sholazar Massacre, and who attacked Zariel and Annabelle placing them in such a position. The Masked Elf was her half-brother, Sanguis Sunfire. Feeling betrayed Jidaeo declared he'd kill the elf and stormed off.

Days had passed, and Jidaeo received a message from Elrohir Seregon. A meeting between the two. He accepted, and the two discussed a temporary truce, due to a mutual enemy. Apparently a murder took place in Silvermoon with an elf having a hole carved through his body. On the back were names carved. 'Novalight' and 'Seregon'. During this time. Agorine Novalight was murdered by the elf in the wood mask. He and a felguard faced off the Paladin, Death Knight and Jidaeo's first born son. It was then he took the Quel'dorei Crystal skull in her possession and left.

An Excerpt from the 'Noble Summit thread'

Spoiler:

Up north the frigid wind threaded through the clouds and the stars. An elf with white hair sat upon a ceremonial throne, older than himself signifying him as one of the kings of the twelve courts. He sat quietly, his eyes closed with thin layers of dead skin snuffing out the runic blue light. There was much to think about, he had just made an alliance with a family he was at war with. He made the deal illegally. Jidaeo Novalight was declared dead to the world two years ago, he had no public standing with the family. A figure in a cloak of snow came to the throne and bowed. "My King...I have news for you....News regarding your family, sire." One of the courts, Jidaeo wasn't a monarch in the sense of a bloodline but one of a secret society, that lived among society, the aristocrats, politicians, to shop owners and tradesmen. "Continue." He stated, he worried about his son, his friend Reigen Dawnsend and the rest of the Novalight Shin'ari. Would they agree to this union, for all the death that has been caused?

"Agorine Sylia Novalight is dead." The cloaked figure bows. "...The family is in turmoil, Their Nova is gone." She was an Sin'dorei, her thalassian was softly released from her lips, the words touching him as gently as the slow falling snow; and just as cold. He opened his eyes. "What?" Agorine had never liked Jidaeo but her prowess as a fighter, and leader were obvious. "...Who killed her?" Jidaeo asked.

"We don't know..."

"Horrible timing for this Summit. Who will represent us?" The cloaked figure stands slowly, the white fabric flowing off the contours of her body. "Sire?" she responds to his audible rhetorical question. He raises his chin. "I will go have a word with the House of Blackstone. I need you to contact my daughter and tell her discretely, that I need to see her at once. We may be in a weakened state, but we will -not- falter."

Jidaeo had attended the Noble Summit, his daughter Alteryia was acting as Interim-Nova, his eldest son Thalion was there as well as his eldest sister Naveria. They didn't get to any of the issues due to arguing and an interruption by a bright light. As the light subsided, cloaked figures lined the back of the room. It was then the nobles were placed under severe hypnosis. The lucid dream was irregular, yet captivating as the nobles stood and defended themselves against the cultists and stood in awe as majestic beings of light mutated and morphed into viscous beings of shadow causing death and ripping through the aristocrats leaving them on the ground in pieces. The dream became a Nightmare when they were all slaughtered by a large entity of shadow. They awoke where they sat at their tables, oddly all shared the same dream. Confused by their power Elrohir and Jidaeo had even more reason to wish to work together. Illusion on such a large scale was off putting to the death knight. They sought out after a way to stop this danger, this 'Eclipse' before they got started.

Zariel was given the list to kill 6 people to absolve his family from being interfered. He killed two before seeking others on his spare time, trying to continue his training with Reigen who refused to train a 'slave'. Zariel even forced an illusion on an unsuspecting Reigen to try to persuade her, the illusion worked but he had trouble persuading her, before she found out. She agreed she'd train him once more, if he brought her brother to him. With that the elf disappeared.

The storm seemed to be adamantly against the meeting of these elves, but fate had already deemed it so. In an old abandoned building in the ruins of Silvermoon where the wretched skitter in the shadows ruled by their mana addiction; stood six elves, all dressed in black. Black robes, black cloaks and black suits, the sole female holding an umbrella tightly in her black gloves as rain trickled off the edges. Even though they were inside the roof still leaked badly. Jidaeo Novalight and his Uncle Diel'Vani Novalight had chosen to speak with the elder council of the Novalight Shin'ari. The group pulling the strings behind the scenes, the overseers of the family.

"I'm surprised to hear from you Jidaeo...I thought you were dead."

"I am."

The old elf furrowed her brow, pearls drapped around her neck. She was older than seventeen hundred but didn't look a day over 24. She had adged timelessly, she pursed her lips. Before she could reply, another elf placed a hand on her shoulder calming her, and Diel'Vani spoke up. The rain continues to drum down relentlessly on the buildings around the area. One of the elders clenched his fists in his black leather gloves.

"We don't have much time. Jidaeo didn't die two years ago, the Ebon Blade incorrectly assumed he was Killed in action. Jidaeo underwent training for the Ebon Blade and to protect our family which is in dire need of help. Our last Nova...My sister was murdered by one who is still at large. One who is using one of our families darkest secrets against us. I would like to request my banishment be revoked. I also request Jidaeo fill the open spot on the elder council."

Jidaeo stands silently in a large black cloak, his hands hidden in his large sleeves which meet at the cuffs over his waist. Diel'vani stands next to him in a white cloak, the only one there brightly contrasting the dreary area. Thunder rumbled over the ruined city, divine tears mourning its loss. One older elf chuckles. "Ridiculous, what a waste of time." He begins to turn away, the sole female looks up to Diel'vani seriously from under the black umbrella. "Diel'vani has never wasted our time brother. We all know he was exiled because of a technicality not because we all felt he should've been." She exhales, as the older skeptical elf turns to her. "Speak for yourself. Murder is murder." He says bitterly. Jidaeo and Diel'vani stand quietly as the rain continues. "I don't have an issue with Jidaeo serving on the council. He can't be in the public eye and he was an excellent Nova during his time. However..." She begins, "We haven't given up on reviving Agorine." The skeptical elf finishes.

"If I may, my elders..." Jidaeo begins. They all look to the death knight silently. "I understand, and respect the tradition of our proud family. Uncle Diel'vani can tell you how much I honor our ancestor although my father broke the taboo. However, we cannot solve new problems with old solutions. So we must adapt to what the world is now, not what it was thousands of years ago." The rain continues to drip, the elves all stand quietly thinking on these words. "We need to strengthen the family." Diel'vani says plainly. "Zariel has already begun to strike a alliance with the Silverfang house. We're also going to open up some businesses in Azeroth. Let us return the family to the way it should be....lets quit this stubbornness." Diel'vani nods listening. One of the elder elves who hadn't spoke before nods clearing his throat. "...I always did think you were the second coming of Jidaeo. I support you my boy." All the elves looked to him surprised, as the rain continued to fall. Thunder echoing in the building as the night sky flashed with light before being once again flushed with darkness.

"Very well...We will discuss these matters. But what of your daughter Alteryia? We can't have an interim Nova forever." Jidaeo nods his head slowly. "Just trust in the new generation. All will come together in time."
